  1. To those of you who have booked your wedding, I have a question. What has your experience been getting responses and information from Dreams? I'm feeling a little frustrated because I've e-mailed and called and can't get ahold of Cecilia. I realize it's the holidays however the WC at the Marriott has been AMAZING. She e-mails me sometimes when she thinks of something I might want to know and today she just e-mailed me pictures of the new beach there without me even asking. She always responds within 24 hours sometimes quicker. I know I shouldn't choose a resort based on who the coordinator is but I know at the Marriott I would get taken care of and I wonder with dreams with so many other weddings going on I know she is more busy so it's harder to get information. Thoughts?
  2. Cecilia said it was behind schedule but that their section was to be done right around now. It's such a wide area that I bet it wouldn't feel too crowded hopefully :/ They are fixing the whole hotel zone as well. I think it will be nice to be able to walk down the beach, when I was there you couldn't make it very far before hitting a place where the water hit a hotel wall.
  3. Here is a link to some my photos I took a few weeks ago. The new beach pictures are hard to tell how different it is but if you look at old pictures of the "tower beach" you will see a HUGE difference. Flickr: AndiS2010's Photostream I scanned the resort map however it got a little wet while I was there so I don't know how clear it will be but I tried I can e-mail it if it doesnt show up. 4. Thanks for the info! I'm hoping they still have the 9th open but I'm getting nervous! She told me they do more than one wedding a day but I don't really like the thought of that. Our problem is we already have our AHR date so we only have a certian window that will work for the wedding. We visited last week and I was suprised how much I really liked the gazebo. One reason I didn't think it would be my first choice was because the beaches were very small but when I was there I saw the new beach they are building and it is going to be HUGE! This definatly changed my mind. I have pictures if anyone wants to see Anyway, this website is so helpful I'm looking forward to finally get planning! Maybe I will follow your advice and call since I haven't heard from her via e-mail.
  5. Hello all! I'm still deciding on where to have our wedding ceremony in Cancun and we have narrowed it down to Dreams or Marriott. I just returned from a trip there where I met Cecilia and spent a day at dreams. My question to you all is what made you choose this resort over others? We are looking to have our wedding around June 10th but I see several of you already have a date around then :/ I've e-mailed Cecilia to find out available dates but haven't heard back yet!
  6. Hey- I'm pretty much in the same situation as you! We are looking for a place in Cancun but I can tell you I just went to the Iberostar Grand Hotel just outside of Playa del Carmen and it's a really nice hotel. The Iberostar has several different hotels within its complex so you have several different price ranges and options. The Iberostar Grand is the most expensive and adults only, but you get access to all the other resorts and their restaurants pools etc. Depending upon where you stay at the Iberostar you can go to the other hotels. I think it its Iberostar Grand, Maya, Lindo, Del Mar and Beach hotels all within one big complex. The Grand has several garden/ pool gazebos or an option for a ceremony on the beach. I have contact info and pictures if you are interested let me know.
  7. Hello all! I'm still looking at different resorts and I came across the Hilton which looks amazing! I was trying to find a hotel with a beach and this seems to be one of the few with a wide enough beach for a ceremony. Does anyone have pricing information? I've e-mailed them but I've yet to hear back. Thanks! -Andi
  8. Hello! I am still considering several resorts around Cancun and was wondering if anyone knows what the beaches are like at Dreams? I know it has several, but are they any that have waves w/ minimal rocks? From the pictures they all seemed to be more like a lagoon.
  9. That's pretty much what I've been getting. I've e-mailed Gemma twice those exact questions but asking if we could eat at the Lindo/Maya as well and I haven't heard back. Any idea if you could just rent La Brisa for 2 hours? Thanks for your help!
  10. Hello all! I've been trying to figure this out and you all seem to be much more helpful than my TA or resort WC so maybe you can help! We are wanting to get married at the Iberostar grand, we met with someone at the hotel while we were there and she said kids could come to the wedding and to the reception but only if we rented out La Brisa and had the wedding on the beach. Has anyone done this? I seem to hear from everyone that they told them NO kids so I'm confused!

I tried to upload one (within the size specifications) and it said "upload failed." And I'd like to add a cute signature with the wedding countdown added... like so many of you have.... anyone know how to do that? So glad there's a forum for Iberostar 2010 brides! Looking forward to chatting with you all. Welcome Grand Bride! I'm glad to see someone getting married at the Grand! I'm looking into getting married there next June so I might be bugging you with some questions
  12. Can I ask who you've been working with at the Grand? I'm kind of afraid they will change stories, or something is lost in translation if they told you no kids at the wedding. They told me they could go to the ceremony just not in the hotel but maybe they told me the wrong thing.
  13. We really liked the grand. I've been to 4 other hotels in the Cancun area and this one was by far the nicest. Everybody there went out of their way to get whatever we wanted or needed. They even come out to the beach and will bring you whatever you want. My biggest selling point was the beach. I had heard that after the hurrance many of the beaches had rocks and sand bags but the beach at the grand/lindo is great. There are some rocks right in front of the Grand but just a little down by the Lindo is a nice wide beach where you can swim. One reason we liked the Grand more than the Lindo, Maya etc was because it was less crowed and where they have the cermony has way less people. We saw 4 weddings set up at the other hotels and they had people laying out about 5 feet from where the wedding was taking place. If you want to read more reviews or see other pictures tripadvisor.com is a great place to see other people's pictures. We met with Gemma while we were there and she gave us some pricing information and showed us some pictures. We are trying to work with her to see if half our group can stay at the lindo and half at the Grand with the wedding being at the grand. She said that kids can attend the wedding but if we want to have a reception at the Grand we have to rent out La Brisa for 1500$. Since we only have ONE cousin that is a kid coming we just can't justify renting the entire place. So I'm waiting to hear back about having the reception at the Lindo. Here are a few pics I took of where we want to have the ceremony if we end up doing it there. This leads out to the 2nd picture so you could pull the wedding under if it was raining and still have a great view
  14. Hello! I'm glad somebody started this, I was getting a little lost trying to read the other thread. I just got back from staying at the Iberostar Grand for 4 nights. We went to check it out for next year. We are struggling with trying to figure out how to have the wedding at the Grand and have kids attend. Anybody done this before? If anybody wants pics/info on the grand let me know. I also took a few pictures at lindo and maya.
