  1. My mom has taken charge of my OOT bags, but bought way to much sunscreen, we have 25 to sell. She put up a Kijiji Ad here: Favours for Destination wedding - Edmonton Buy & Sell Goods - Kijiji Edmonton please don't PM me, I just promised her I would let the girls here know about the ad.
  2. I may be extrapolating, but I want to say more then "she's being a total B*tch" I don't know how important it is for her to be at your wedding, but given her reaction I'll say she either does not want to be there, or cannot go (possibly for financial reason she does now want to admit *total guess there*). Perhaps she is trying to take some of the pressure she is feeling she is under to come to your wedding with all this ridiculous complaints, part or her may even be hoping you change your mind so that she can come. or she may just be being a self-centered little twit.
  3. hmm, I can't help you there. You could try some local theaters, or lighting supply stores. I'd steal one from the theater I work, but something tells me I would get in trouble, lol
  4. Ottawa bride Do you have to pay anything more then a $9 per person for the bar for the lighting for the beach party? I want to do dinner at la Uva (non private) and then party on the beach, or the new gazebo after, but $ is tight. wow, lot's of Canadians here! I have no idea about the complex, I'll scout it out in 2 months You can do a beach reception, cost is $60 USD a person
  6. So I bout it and have used it for almost 2 weeks. my verdict: I can feel a difference when I run my hand down my thighs, but visually it's so-so. I have also been exercising my ass a lot, so that helps I am sure. I have no doubt it is helping, I'm just not sure how much. I say, if you can spare the $55 dollars, give it a try, you will find results, but the extent probably vary between each person
  7. I found a pair of shoes that match my dress perfectly and oddly have the same style name as my legal name... clearly this is meant to be. Found a pair in my size on Ebay for $68 (including duty, tax etc)!!

Maybe someone going down there soon can take some sneak peak photos for us? I'll see what I can do I was not going to bring anything in terms of decorations with me, but as my wedding gets closure I can't help but form a more clear picture of what I want and I don't want to assume I will like anything the resort has

If you want to use the runner, why not wear sandals or flip flops for the ceremony part, then you can put your shoes on! (It's what i decided to do) Do you know what decorations are included in the package? I've made centerpieces, is there anything else I should worry about bring with me? I think I'll stick with the sash that is included (the orange) since it matchs the centerpiece, I guess you didn't get the extra cost? what do you think? will you be upgrading the ceremony? Thanks so much again!! Orange sashes come free with the package I want to get married barefoot, my FMIL has a pair of fancy shoes and has been obsessed with the carpet runner since she heard about it. gahhh I won't be doing the upgrade since I don't have enough of my green/blue/yellow fabric to cover the canopy and use for chair sashes I have no idea what the other decor is. My dad is a designer and is planning on using the chair sash fabric and star fish to decorate the restaurant with after we are done with them on the beach, so I'm not too worried about it anymore. When I get back in late December I will try and write a detailed review with all the info I can for you guys
  10. OMG!! I can't believe how frusterating this must be i'm travelling with Air Transat out of Edmonton in Early December, I better email my TA and find out if I should be concerned
  11. My Fiance and I are not really doing bridesmaids or groomsman, though we've never been traditional I got an email from Carolina about decorations -red carpet runner comes with package, it's optional (cue argument between me and my shoe-obsessed FMIL about whether or not to use it) -sashes are as seen earlier, there are upgrades for a price, but she did not give any specifics, I've figured that all out already -there are upgrades for the reception decorations, but again no specifics -You can bring your own decorations (whew) and she sent me a pic of a ceremony upgrade, but did not give me the price here it is:
  12. because I ended up with way too many. Here is my Kijiji ad: Destination Wedding Favours - Edmonton Buy & Sell Goods - Kijiji Edmonton PM me if you are interested
  13. I have had the most successful two days of wedding shopping! I bought beautiful chair sash fabric, for half price, it's organza and has green, yellow and blue threads in it is like shot silk and will go with almost everything I bought 25 star fish for $20 at a "going out of business" sale to go with the chair sashes (instead of bows at the back) I bought a gorgeous wedding album at that same sale I finally picked up my cake topper, and I love it! I bought the center vase for my sand ceremony, it's actually a candle holder, we will put our sand in the cylinder, seal it with a glue-sand paste and then put the candle holder on top, fill that with water and have a floating candle in it for the reception. it sort of looks like this: http://www.plainbiz.com/Biz/71/hangi...thcylinder.jpg My mom is making me a cute little jacket to go with my dress (since when the sun goes down I will get cold) Yay, it's all coming together! Just wanted to share with my fellow GP brides!
  14. Does anyone know about the decorations of the ceremony? The package I have says there are chair covers, and I see them in pictures, but what about sashes??
  15. Something I have been doing in my communications with Carolina is signing off with my full name, ceremony type (symbolic/renewal of vows) and wedding date. She has so many brides she is dealing with I imagine it can be difficult to keep us all strait, also the fact my wedding is coming up soon and she can see that on my emails is probably the reason why she is replying to me sooner then those of you who still have half a year to go. I will continue to pass on any info I get

If you are using a TA get them to research for you, it's part of their job. I heard the buses can be quite the experience, lol
  17. Mark and I are heading to La Romana, about 85km away and on the other side of the island, for our honeymoon. We want to see some different sights and there is some pretty cool stuff over there. The resort we are staying at is the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus
  18. Urgghh can someone explain to me why a centerpiece that consists of a couple candles, a mirror they reuse and some seashells they also reuse is going to cost me $65 each to rent!? I thought the high cost was from the callas lilies in the picture, but Carolina says that they are just the bride's bouquet that got in the shot Now I wish I could bring something from home, but I am worried about my weight limit as is
  19. Hey I am just wondering if anyone has used this product? It's pretty new and I am having a hard time finding online reviews for it. I don't want to spend $45 (it's on sale 20% off at my nearby drug store) on it unless I am reasonably confident it does what it says it does Here is their website Elancyl : A beautiful body from top to bottom - Pierre Fabre Laboratories
  20. I have the prices to rent centerpieces, it's a bit more then I expected (25 to about 60 each piece) PM me if you want to see them. I may be slow to respond because my life is crazy right now
  21. Have you shown them any TTD pictures? I don't think people realise how beautiful they can be, and they are shots you can only get by getting into the surf and "trashing the dress" It's not like you are going to be acting like a spoiled toddler wreaking their new sunday best
  22. This is sort of the opposite of a vent, but it could easily have become my breaking point. I ordered my dress in March from a store in my home town (let's call it A), it's a bridesmaid dress I am ordering in white and is costing me about $260 dollars. I put down a $130 deposit and waited, they said it would be in store in September. Fast forward to 2 days ago, I get a phone call from my mom "Don't panic, but store A has gone out of business." Yep, they went out of business, poof, like that. My heart did double flips and landed in my throat. first good thing: My mom assures me that a bridal store that moved into A's location arranged with Venus Bridal (the dress's maker) to sell me my dress at wholesale cost plus shipping, total cost about $160 dollars. Still, I loose my deposit. Next good thing: my mom realises she put down the deposit on my dress, not me and she put it down using her Credit card, which has deposit insurance, meaning we are getting that money back! Now I am getting my dream dress for a little over $160 dollars, about $100 less then I would be if store A had stayed in business
