  1. WretchedDeviant - my then fiance did mine. Haha it was quite entertaining. I think they sent a picture of where to measure so I just went off that. BUT it helps that I got a corset back and any mis-measurements were easily adjusted for.
  2. OH! -ballerina-!! It's stunning! I LOVE the color of the sash and everything looks fabulous! You must be so thrilled!

I didn't, just had it hanging up and then carried it on the plane. I had it about three months before the wedding. All the major wrinkles fell out with time. I'm sure there were still small ones but if you couldn't tell already, I'm not really picky so I didn't care. I wouldn't have paid to have a $180 dress pressed and certainly wasn't going to risk doing it myself!

  5. christinak82 - my dress had some of those stitch lines in the rouching too. At first I was a bit put off but then I realized that nobody besides me would focus on it. I also noticed later that part of the bodice on my dress isn't attached to the skirt - you can stick a hand down between the material and right "under" the skirt! haha. The parts where the edges of the material comes out is pretty unacceptable! In the end I knew that NOBODY would be analyzing my dress so closely on that big day. And honestly, for under $200, I knew it wasn't going to be perfect and accepted these tiny little flaws. I'm sorry it's not what you wanted it to be and hope you can figure out what to do with it!! HUGS!

Good luck and keep us posted. Actually that's my dress on page 45? And it's the poly taffeta because I didn't want to pay twice as much for silk taffeta when I didn't know what the difference was. AJ- Those pictures are good representations of what your dress would look like in taffeta though. My skirt doesn't have any layering or volume in it. I'm sure there's a way to make the skirt even more "slinky" and less voluminous by using less material. The taffeta is thin and really soft. Before I went dress shopping I ruled out taffeta dresses because I thought of the huge, stiff 80's style material. My dress is not even close to being like that. It seems like in this case, the satin is thicker and stiffer than the taffeta. BUT i'm only basing my opinion off my dress and the review on page 89 of peterpanpixiedust's dress that was made in "thin poly-satin"

But after hearing some reviews of the thin satin (not sure if this is the same as "soft satin" though) I think i'd go with taffeta if you want it flowier/softer. OR ask them if they could send you material samples. Somebody awhile back mentioned they offered to do that.

I was rather pleased with it. Some taffeta dresses I tried on were really noisy and sorta stiff but my knock off from gianar wasn't at all. For the wedding I didn't wear a petticoat/crinoline because of the heat factor but I might buy one for the AHR. The material is actually pretty "loose" and flowy and I want to see what it's like with just a touch more volume to the skirt.

Ok so I got a response from gianinar today and they said the Jorge Manuel has to be made fom silk satin which is why it is $350 where as the Tornai can be made from poly-satin and is $120 (mind you the e-mail before the told me $150 now they are saying $120). I am not a dress expert but can anyone show me what poly-satin looks like. I know luciel and a few others already have their dresses. KJT I think yours was chiffon? right? Christina? Luciel? Any other ladies who already got your dress with gianinar what does the poly-satin look like...because if it shines I'm getting it! Mine was taffeta, but it was shiny! Haha. I never thought I would like taffeta but I didn't mind.
  10. JanineA - maybe she's confused as to which one is which? The second one definitely looks more simple BUT I think there's a lot more small pieces to put together if that makes sense. While the ruching LOOKS more complicated on the other dress there's not much to it other than to pull it and tack it. The lace is sewn under the dress and the roses hand sewn on but not much "finishing" if you know what I mean. Whereas the Jorge Manuel has all the little parts at the top they have to finish and sew in as layers, the ribbon around the waist, the seams in the skirt to make it lay right, and it looks like there's a wide trim on the bottom that they would have to incorporate in. The Tornai is much more of a cut and assemble type dress. I'm absolutely not a seamstress and at first glance I totally understand how you'd be upset because the Jorge Manuel does look simpler. But I think when you consider the level of small details and how they have to incorporate it into the dress it makes a bit more sense. also, I actually REALLY love the Tornai. Haha But it's really important that you find a dress you love! Good luck! edit: and while I can see where it might take a bit more time, I don't see how it would cost $300. I mean, they hand beaded the whole top of mine and didn't charge me that much!

My wedding isn't until July 30th in Aruba, and I actually have a dress but I found some Maggie dresses that I LOVE and now want to have a replia made. I just have to try some on to see what looks best on me. What is the average price you guys are paying for Gianinar to make you a dress? I ordered mine back in late Oct/early Nov and am pretty sure it was right at a month when I got proof pictures. Shipping only took 5 days as well. I paid $120 for the dress and $60 for shipping. I think that's a pretty standard price from gianinarbridal if you choose the "lower" quality material.

Or, as in my case, you fall in love with a dress that is over your budget and don't want to settle! Some people have ordered dresses without ever trying them on because they're cheap and they like the dress, figuring you can't go wrong for $150-200 even if you end up hating it!
  14. WretchedDeviant I had to go find your dress by gianinarbridal. They DID do a great job. I definitely agree on the color issue though. Precious - SO pretty! I love the rouching! It's going to make your waist look SO tiny!!

Girls, did gianinar provide you with tracking numbers when sending your dresses? You know, I don't remember if they sent one or not. I'm thinking they did not because I seem to remember being surprised it arrived as quickly as it did after they notified me it was mailed. I can't really comment on why you haven't received a reply but I know that they were ALWAYS very prompt in replying to my emails. I feel like maybe I ordered my dress at a slower time of year though. Sorry you're not getting the communication you want/need!
  17. Hey girls, my dress from Gianinarbridal was the poly taffeta since I couldn't see spending the extra money for silk taffeta either. I had NO problems with the material and thought it was beautiful. My dress is in this thread somewhere but I thought i'd post picts anyway so nobody has to search. proof photos: wedding photos: I tried to use pictures that showed the dress in all different kinds of lighting so you can get an idea of what the material is like. Sometimes it's a bit shiny, sometimes not. I'm really happy I didn't spend the extra money because i'm not sure how the silk taffeta could have been better. My biggest concern was that it would be like davids bridal dresses and be really loud with a tent/sleeping bag texture but it wasn't at all. Hope this helps!

  19. Barbiegirl! I think it's beautiful on you too!!! But pamphilia is right, it's about how you FEEL. So pretty though!!
