  2. Hello brides!!! Congratulations on your weddings and on choosing the Barceló Maya for them! You will have a great time. Here is one of wedding we shot there. Enjoy
  3. Just wanted to chime in that we have deals right now for photo, video, and photo+video coverage to help offset your outside vendor fees. We have a lot of Azul brides! Check out our sponsor page for more info (link in my signature).
  4. September and early October are iffy because of the chance of rain, the leftover intense heat of the summer, and the lingering high humidity. I would recommend the end of October or sometime in April or May, which are hotter but not as humid and rainy.
  5. These two can help--they're awesome, super sweet, very experienced, and located in Toronto.....http://www.lescape.com/
  6. April is between the rainy cool season and the hot dry season so I guess there's a chance it might get a little cooler on the beach at night, but I've never seen chilly bridesmaids wrapped in towels at a beach reception during April, and especially not May. I HAVE seen that happen occasionally in the winter months. Then again, a chilly breeze could be all the more reason for a round of tequila shots!
  7. You might want to check out The Tides. It's very near La Reve and I think it's about the same size. Also I did a beautiful small wedding recently at Casa Romero in Akumal. The planner was Jennifer Smith from Turtle Bay Weddings.
  8. I just realized your wedding is at the Royal in Cancun, not Playa . Anyway what I said about the time of day still holds true--you really don't want to be outside in your wedding dress for any length of time at that hour unless you have to be!
  9. Hola Kellie! I've shot at the Royal many times. It's actually one of my favorite hotels to shoot at in Playa, though the beach is very, very public because it's in the center of town. If you are a bit of an exhibitionist then you might find the energy of the public beach, with people walking by, adds to the drama and the party atmosphere. I especially love their beachside receptions. We had our wedding on a public beach in Tulum and had a mayan ceremony. There were actually people in the circle praying for us and participating that we don't know, haha. I'm kind of a theatrical person so I liked that they added to the energy. (I doubt you will have wedding crashes at the Royal though, so don't worry about that!) I will say that 2pm in June will be hot hot hot on the beach. That's pretty much the hottest part of the day, and there will barely be any shade. I recommend scheduling your ceremony for later in the day, like around 5. That way you and your guests won't be boiling in the sun, and your pictures will look much nicer as well because of the flattering angle of the light.
  10. We live here in Playa, and I can attest to the fact that mosquitos aren't much of a problem in December unless you're in the middle of the jungle. On the beach it's generally very breezy so that helps as well....
