Marla, when you quote, you can delete the parts of the message that you don't want to include. Just make sure that you leave the *
[*/quote]* boxes in there or else it will look like you posted it.Re the photog situation. I think it depends on how important it is to you. I was one of those brides that honestly didn't care about anything but the photography, but that was me. I think you get less for your buck through the resort photogs, but if you don't want to spend too much then that may be the route to go!
Oh and if you want to share a photog, post it in your siggy!!

I honestly don't think I would even mention it to her. If you're ok to cover the cost, then leave it. If she wants to pay for it then she will, or maybe she has something else in mind... a surprise maybe? I never expected anything from anyone, so if you live by that standard you'll be less disappointed and can keep a realistic grasp on your budget.

I personally would really appreciate something like that. I think its a great idea! I say if its in your budget and you want to put the time and effort into it, go for it!!

Nope, we had no parents period!! Just 5 friends, one of my brothers and my sister. I am very close with my mom, so I was nervous of how I would be on the wedding day, but like I've told you a million times, I never even thought of anyone that wasn't there! All that worrying for nothing!Quote:

Ditto to what Amy said. I wasted so many tears on people that I honestly wish I hadn't... one of those being my mom as well. I had 7 people show for my wedding..... 2 of those were family members - one brother and my sister. And you know what, it turned out perfectly! The attendance numbers were definitely lower than we had expected, but I can tell you that I honestly don't care to this day about that!
I'm not defending these insane people giving you a hard time, but I honestly think that they just don't "get it". And you know what, you don't need their approval. It will work out *HUGS*

This is a really tough question! THere are so many factors that affect a budget, such as private receptions, number of guests, how many DIY projects you did, etc. To give you an idea, I had 7 guests, that's right, 7! I did not do a private reception or AHR and kept everything pretty basic with minimal extras. My total expense, including rings, the week trip, buying wedding party attire, etc was about 14K. If I went all out like I initially thought I was, I could have easily spent $25K lol. When I realized the actual expense of some things I made major cuts.

Nope, I didn't do them and I'm glad I didn't. Everyone packs what they need! I think its a nice gesture and if you want to great, but I chose to spend the money elsewhere.

Hi ladies, I got married at AS, but I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. I don't know what the pricing is like at DRC, so I suggest you write down what is most important to you and then compare those things between the two threads (ie available ceremony locations, private reception costs, what standard packages include, etc).

Oh and one more thing... once you decide, don't look back lol!! You'll drive yourself crazy.

I only recall one court, but I could be wrong. It's on the beach by the pier. The BBQ is next to it, so we played a few games with the resort entertainment crew and some other guests. It worked out well! I may have some pics... I'll go back and check.Quote:

Honestly, I think everyone's idea of expensive is different. In my eyes it IS expensive with all the add ons, so I kept my wedding simple and small. I'm definitely not young compared to you lol! I would try not to take people's comments too personally. I'm sure they have your best interest at heart when they say things. 18 is really young, and when I look back to who I was at that age, its certainly not who I am now. Your family and friends just love you! It doesn't make their comments right, but try to remember how much they care about you

Have you tried on a flowier dress before? I'm only asking because you might be surprised! That's what I thought I wanted for the beach, but it didn't feel right to me when I tried that style on.
