Hi Joanna,
Personally, the TTD session is one of the things that I am looking forward to the most! For me, I absolutely cannot pass it up...... but at what cost? That sounds expensive to me, but I guess what it comes down to is your budget. If you can afford it and truly want it, then I say go for it. Then you don't have to be wondering if you should have done it. For me the pictures is the one thing that I can keep from my wedding, so that is where most of my budget will be going, but at the same time, I gave up a private reception and basically any extras that I might have considered getting otherwise.
If you do decide to do the TTD session, remember that it is supposed to be fun! You'll look beautiful and have nothing to worry about!

The beach scenery doesn't sound like it would make for very good TTD pics!! Maybe I'll have to look into doing those offsite.
Thanks for the informative review!!

i am hosting 100 ppl there in may so i am having a private reception as well as a private welcome party. the amount of money i am saving on the reception compared to what i would have been spending in new york is fantastic! they have really great and inexpensive options, if that is the route you plan to go.
i am still not sure about the hair and make up. i think i may get my make up done, but since i have wild curly hair, i don't know how much i will trust the hair stylist. my hair is NOT easy!
does anyone getting married at the azul have curly hair and is getting it done there? i am curious what type of do you are going for.
have a great day everyone!

Hi Jenni,
Yes, I am unfortunate enough to have crazy curly hair too! I'm not doing a veil, so I think I'm going to attempt to leave it down with it paritially pinned back with a flower. I didn't want an up do becuase I am going for a very laid back casual feel.
By the way, how did you manage to get 100 people attending??!! I'm having a tough time even getting some of my immediate family to go. What's your secret? -

How private is the spoon restaurant??..... I'm just wondering if it would or would not be appropriate for speeches, if centre pieces can be arranged, is there even a head table set up or is everyone just seated in the restaurant but within one section?
Sorry I called her Tracy earlier but I meant Tiffany. Tiffany responded with:
Spoon Restaurant is not going to be private at all. You can always give speeches but there will be other guests hearing them. The set up at the restaurant is normally 1 or 2 large tables that will be next to each other.
Hope that helps!! -

Could you add me for Nov 5, 2009?
Thanks! -
Finally I have my confirmation! Nov 5, 2009! It took weeks to get it! I feel so relieved. I was afraid I was going to have to switch weeks if I didn't get it!

First, I would like to thank everyone that posts on the site! I came across this a while ago and find it extremely helpful!
I have booked through "the Wedding Holiday", which I noticed several others have as well. I have been given a departure date but I'm still waiting on the confirmation of the wedding date for Nov 2009. Its been almost a week and I still haven't heard back....normal I guess
I'm really glad I chose the destination route, but at the same time its a bit overwhelming for me because I have NEVER travelled anywhere. Any advice that you may have would be excellent!
Although the wedding seems so far away, I'm not sure if I should be starting to work on things like photography arrangements, etc.
I am on a tight budget so a private reception is pretty much out of the question. Anyone else not doing a "formal" reception? I'm not even sure what kind of arrangements to make!!

Hi everyone! I think all of this worrying is a little premature.... especially for those who have weddings mid 2009. Trust me, I have had a few negative thoughts myself, but taking care of some of those issues may not be an overnight fix. For example, maybe they underestimated a few things and have to hire more staff, which definitely takes time, etc. It wouldn't be in the best interest of Karisma hotels to open a crappy hotel and risk their reputation, and I highly doubt that's their intention.
And for those getting married the end of this year and early next year, the hotel knows that if they have upset brides at their resort, it will negatively affect their business, so they will make sure that you are happy.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't vent, because this is definitely where we should vent and its a huge stress reliever, but I'm not loosing sleep over it just yet. Keep smiling ladies!!! It WILL get better!!!!
