Although I plan on doing a complete review, I've read through the posts I've missed since I've been gone and wanted to answer a few questions while its fresh in memory.
1 - I had the Tucan Gazebo and Terrace, and although I may be biased, I think it is the best. It is further away from things, has a long walkway and just seemed more private. Don't worry about them using a "CD player" for your wedding music. I was concerned as well, but it was actually a sound system. I could hear the music perfectly well the entire time. Also if you really want a beach wedding remember that the gazebos are just feet from the beach - you can see it all in the background. You get the best of both worlds even if its in a gazebo over actually on the beach.
2 - Seaweed - we took pics on the beach and although I did get a little bit of seaweed stuck on the bottom of my dress, the MP works very hard at keeping everything maintained and clean. One of our friends was running one morning and saw them literally using a dump truck to rid of the seaweed. You will also see workers raking it up throughout the day. As a whole, I didn't even notice it.
3 - mosquitoes - I don't think I even saw a mosquito while we were there, and no one we were with ever complained about it. In fact, I thought to myself, with the humidity I was surprised we didn't see bugs. So even within a couple of weeks since the beginning of Nov that changed. It may depend on the season and whether it has been raining. It did not rain at all when we were there (though we did get a couple of cloudy days - boooo!).
4 - restaurants - were all fantastic! My favorite was the Carribean place on the grand side, though we did not have a bad meal anywhere while we were there. Actually my favorite was ROOM SERVICE, which was awesome - anything you wanted, anytime! P.S. I previously posted asking about shoes and long pants, etc, and we never had trouble. I don't think long pants or shoes were ever mentioned to us, however, its better to be safe than sorry!!
5 - wind - i didn't really notice the wind until the day of the wedding, and then it was blessed. My legs were so hot under my dress that it was great when the wind was blowing!! It did blow my hair around, but pics still turned out great, and I wasn't wearing a veil so maybe that made a difference.
Overall, ladies, don't worry too much about planning every little thing ahead of time. It WILL all work out in the end. They go through everything in detail at your meeting and they are really flexible. I worried plenty about my WC (Nancy, or Pilar, or, etc...) not keeping in close contact, but they keep track of everything you ask for even if they don't respond. Our wedding was PERFECT!!
Good luck everyone and I will post a review soon. Let me know if you have ANY questions! Joni...thank you for posting all of that information! It really answers a lot of questions Not just that, but it also helps relieve a lot of the stress! I would also love to see your pictures!
