  5. Hiiii Claire, we were not sure did all your families want to crash at ours, especially as we don't know one another! I've got a link if you want to have a look at the Sir John's menu & Mammee bay... I think we'll go for Mammee as Johnny has an allergy to gluten so he's not allowed anything with sauces, it has to be plain food (ish). Also he can only drink cider (magners etc) & I don't think they have anything like that... red stripe is out!! xxx
  6. pls let me know how it all works out for you Chicklet, hope you have a wonderful time
  7. Hi Ladies I would like to ask your advice on what you will be doing after the reception, we are reluctant to hire the disco or seagrape but have read they have a beach party Friday evenings so do any of you think that would be ok? It will be just ourselves going (3) & we have a friend who is getting married the following week along with their party.. but we don't know their relatives that well! Would appreciate any advice any1 can give, Thanks!!

  9. Hi Jill, Has Chandlyn sent you any menus for the speciality restaurants, would like to have a look as FH has a dietary intolerance & we're trying to decide where to have our reception. Thanks Sarah xxx
  10. Hi Claire, plans coming along ok, starting a new diet monday so am hoping to shift 2-3 stone this time, its the Cambridge diet, dunno if you have heard of it. Anyway, the docs needed are; Full birth certs, showing both parents names, and photocopies of full passports, think you have to have at least 6 months left from date of return, also you have to get them certified by a solicitor, I brought mine & his in, took less than 10 mins & it cost something like £10. By the way, if you have changed your name, you have to produce a change of name deed (Statutory declaration) and again, this has to be certified by a solicitor. That's all you need, once you have all those done, courier them by UPS or someone to the hotel, for Chandlyn's attention. Thats it then just bring the original docs when you go. Talk soon xx
  11. Hi Blurt, Myself & my FH originally booked the Riu Tropical bay in Negril with 1st choice, however the service with the Weddings team was just appauling, for 1 they couldn't confirm our wedding date as the hotel was undergoing renovation & even the TA couldn't confirm the hotel would be open in time, and the hassle I had with our documents was another issue. We then thought sod it & rebooked the holiday with Thomson (who were still independent, they're in partnership with 1st choice now) however, we decided to go to the ROR instead (didn't want to go to RTB if it was still a holiday from hell resort) and I decided to contact Riu directly to book the wedding package myself, the ease of doing this was a major weight off my shoulders, I had my wedding date confirmed within a week, they then emailed me Chandlyn's contact details, and to be sure, I sent our wedding documents via UPS back in May, 9 months early!! Being honest, I would advise anyone to go directly through the hotel to book a wedding package, and we even saved money on the cost of the package, as all travel operators add there own commission on top!! Feel free to email me if you need any more info, be happy to help another bride to be Sarah xx
  12. Hi I'm getting married at the Riu OR on the 3rd April 09, like yourselves we have booked the holiday thru Thomson but booked the wedding package with the hotel direct. As for bringing my dress on board I am going to see how big it is folded & I may buy a box from the Empty box company (The Empty Box Company) If you need any more information, feel free to ask! Sarah
  13. Hi we are being married at the Riu Ocho Rios on April 3rd 09, there from 31st March to 14th April, less than 6 months to go!!

  15. Hello everyone, I'm Sarah & am engaged to Johnny, we are getting married the 3rd April 2009 at the Riu Ocho Rios, almost 6 months until we're boarding the plane!! Can't wait!! If anyone has been married there before, feel free to let me know how it went, bit apprehensive as I've heard a lot of good & bad stories about the hotel. Thanks
