  1. Hi, Your plans are similar to mine and we are also on the search, but just in Northern CA. From what I know, it is very easy to get a permit and only about $50. Here is a good place to start: Getting Married in a California State Park We are looking at Pescadero State Beach this weekend. There are 3 ocean front facilities we are going to look at also, Asilomar and Seascape Resort and Sanctuary Beach Resort. I think Seascape would be the best for you because it is only for a small party and it is gorgeous! A friend of mine got married at a beach in Point Reyes, it was absolutely the prettiest wedding site I have seen, very private and easy access. The reception was at Point Reyes Seashore Lodge, but I think that would be better for a larger group because I believe you have to rent the whole facility. Keep me updated! I am searching for the same thing:) Colleen
  2. PVINNOV, Where are you from? I'm in SF:) I will also be in PV on Saturday. Congratulations on your wedding, I hope you will have a wonderful day.
  3. Oh yeah, Kathy was right about that airline stuff. I paid $700 for my PV ticket from San Francisco! I just looked and the flight is now $527, ahh shucks!
  4. Thanks for reaching out ladies. I am feeling much better. My fiance has so far survived the downturn and he has not been laid off. That leaves us not enough time to plan for May still, but we are taking a trip to PV and Sayulita to check things out, great trade off! We leave in 7 days and will be there for 9 days:) Thanks again and happy planning!
  5. Thanks Miska, I was planning for Oct. 09 but this is good info and I will postpone until Nov. 09, ugughgh I don't want to wait a whole year but this is a good reason to.
  6. Yeah! We are also going to PV in 2 weeks. We are leaning toward Sayulita though so only will be in PV for 2 days. We are also visiting Playa Fiesta for a tasting and I am looking at about 5 villas. I have had pretty good luck with the places I contacted, but I all together gave up on Villa Amor in Sayulita. I never thought I was type A at all, but after leaving 15 messages for the WC I started to feel very type A. I never received a call back from her. I finally decided to just stay there and hope to corner her and force her to talk to me. I then made 2 reservations, both of which did not exist when I called to confirm. I would never want my guests to go though dealing with them so they are no longer on my list. Best wishes on your trip! Take photos:)
  7. Oh yeah, also, please tell me your WC recommendation. I have already pretty much decided on one, but just curious who you have in mind and why you recommend her/him. Thanks!
  8. Hi Mel, Thanks for the suggestion. Actually the Don Pedros palapa and Villa de Oso are our top 2 choices so I am glad we are able to go and check them out, I am sure it will be difficult to choose between the two:) Any other Sayulita tips? We are renting a house called Cantamar (on sayulitalife.com). We just plan to surf, eat and relax. We also want to arrange yoga classes and a canopy tour. Thanks!
  9. Arrghgh! The economy is spoiling our wedding Let's get real for a minute, hasn't the downturn compromised anyone else's plans? My fiance got laid off the DAY we were going to book our villa We decided to postpone our wedding, originally May, 2009 and we are hoping to do October 09 now. Booh!
  10. Hi Girls, Not sure if you already read my other Sayulita thread, but I will be going down there for a week at the end of November. I am checking out Villa Amor, Don Pedros Palapa restaurant, Playa Escondida and Villa de Oso. I will take photos and post.
  11. Your final choice must be to die for, this dress looks more gorgeous on you than the model:) Try posting on Used Wedding Dresses. Buy & sell new and used designer wedding gowns. I actually bought my Vera Wang dress on ebay:) I paid a third of the price but it had already been worn......only once though! I am in love with it!
  12. I have always wanted a beach wedding. I live in San Francisco and have been unable to find a location to have a beach wedding. I know there are some beaches north of here that we can have the ceremony at and then go to a separate location for the party. However does anyone know of any place right on a beach for the reception? Not the cliff house please and it does not have to be in San Francisco but in the vicinity. Thanks so much:)
  13. We talked about going to Costa Rica or Belize since it is just south. However, we just had to postpone our wedding date for 5 months later for various reasons so now we will have 5 months extra to save more honeymoon $ so we might continue on to Bali and save Costa Rica for the babymoon:)
  14. We are going to visit Sayulita for some decompression, surf, yoga and eats over Thanksgiving. We will stay at Villa Amor for 4 nights and then stay in PV our last night. We might check out Yelapa, but not sure if we will have time. I will post pictures for sure:) The only problem with Villa Amor is their customer service is AWFUL. I called the wedding coordinator and emailed her about 15 times with no return call. She emailed back once but just sent me a link to their wedding site, which is not very informative. We have even contacted them to make our November stay reservations, but have not heard back yet. It seems the only way to book there is to physically go!
  15. Antique Diamond Dinner Ring - Lang Antiques I went to look at another engagement ring when I couldn't help notice this "antique dinner ring" in the case next to the engagement rings. It reminds me of something a flapper girl would wear, but the actual date range is from 1890-1910. My fiance and I just bought our first home, built in 1907 just after the great San Francisco earthquake in 1906. It has withstood every earthquake since so I thought the ring would be symbolic of our marriage......um....yeah...bullshit, I just loved it!
  16. Alyssa, where did you get the bridesmaid dresses? I love them and all the different options in wearing them. They are perfect for a beach wedding!
  17. I begged my fiance to contact that show with me. I love it! He refused, but finally agreed to local tango lessons which I have been bugging him about for a long time:) Aren't we supposed to start choosing our battles now?
  18. Hi DB2B, Still searching for the best option! The good thing is there are so many great choices and I am sure each one will be great. We have many surfer hippie types in our group and some yogis too so we like the idea of Sayulita. Our original idea was to get a house on the beach and just have a whole weekend party. From my research, the villa owners are not really down with that, they want to charge event fees for every night you have guests over. So we started looking elsewhere and found Villa Amor. A good friend has been there and tells me I can't go wrong, it is gorgeous, romantic and Sayulita has excellent cuisine. The only issue is booking rooms for guests, it is so small and unless the guests all book right away then I would be worried that they might end up having to commute to the wedding, which would obviously not work well after a ton of margaritas. So I am still trying to find the perfect villa. Do you know of many options for guests to stay in Sayulita? I would love to see your photos or hear your impressions on what find in November, although I hope to book something this week:)
  19. Who is Kathy? How can I get in touch with her? I would like to book soon because one of the villas I was considering already booked for the date I had in mind. Thanks!
  20. Hi, I saw that you posted on another thread regarding a wedding at Villa Amor in Sayulita. We are also considering this option. You also mentioned the villas in that area are "breath taking". I was not able to find any villas at all besides de Oso. There are many great options in Punta Mita too, but I can't find anything in Sayulita. I would love some info if you have any suggestions. Also, if you have pictures you could email I would very much appreciate it. Thanks so much. Colleen
  21. Hello, Did you ever decide on whether you will have you wedding at Villa Amor? I am also considering that option. My fiance and I surf and so do some of our friends, but many do not so I am hesitating a bit. I would love to hear what you decided.
  22. Hi, I am booking my villa this week! I have searched high and low, but have never seen Villa Medeterraneo. A wedding planner informed me it is not yet on the rental market. My wedding is in early May, would you mind sharing your connection so I might consider this option as well? Thanks so much!
  23. Hello Brides, I am looking forward to chatting, exchanging information, tips, and excitement. Happy planning:) Colleen
