  1. Yeah its nice to have a simple band if you have a fancy engagement ring. You are right that all that matters is you and your FI are there. the good thing about going away for a wedding is that you only end up with the really important people with you.

Were those your save the dates you sent out or your formal invites. I sent save the dates out last october 2008, but I also want to send out formal invites requesting an RSVP....I just wasn't sure if sending them out now would be too early, but I guess not if you did yours a year before your wedding. How many people do you have booked so far?

  4. I booked my wedding last september, 2008, for July 2010 (almost 2 years early) and I had no problem getting booked that soon. My wedding is in mayan riviera, so maybe that makes a difference. I also have a TA that specializes in doing weddings. They are called The Wedding Holiday, and they got me booked right away. Maybe contact them and see if they can get you booked right away. Their website is www.theweddingholiday.com They have been fantastic to deal with so far and extremely helpful with wedding planning.

    New here :)

    Congratulations and welcome!
  6. I want to send out formal paper invitations, but I'm not sure how early I should send them out. My wedding is July 2010...Any ideas as to when I should out my invites, and when I should ask them to RSVP by?
  7. I completely disagree that black can not be for a wedding. Soooo many bridesmaids have black dresses. I think it is classy, and I love the colour scheme in that picture you posted! I'm having turquoise has my colour and i'm thinking of adding black and silver now because it looks so stunning!
  8. we put $3000 down to book 10 rooms and then they gave us another 10 on top that didn't need to be filled (so we have 20 held in total). I sent out save the dates right away and told people that the resort is very popular and will fill up fast. That got a lot of people booking right away. I continue to send out emails every 4 months maybe just reminding people that its best to book right away so they dont end up not getting a room. I am going to send out formal paper invites, but i'm not sure how early to do this....any suggestions?
  9. Those invites look fantastic. Good work! When is everyone sending out their invites and requesting RSVPs by? I sent out my Save the Dates back in October 2008, and I'm not getting married till June 2010. When should I sent out my formal invites and when should I ask them to reply by?
  10. Thanks for the info on UK prices Katie. I'm surprised its only 400 more for a second week! That seems pretty good, although even for one week, its a lot more than what we are paying coming from canada.
  11. I am going to go with the ipod option. I think the DJ is way over priced for what you are getting. If you bring your ipod, you get all the music you want, and if you dont want to worry about loading the ipod you could ask someone else to do it for you. A friend of mine has offered to deal with the ipod for me. I am going to give him a list of must haves, and he will put it together and then play it at the reception. From what I have heard, people have been quite happy with either option they have chosen though.
  12. I think the dress is absolutely gorgeous and not poofy at all. I had intentions of getting a dress that was very beachy, flowy, light material, etc...and ended up with the exact opposite. My dress is very poofy...way more than yours, and it was just what looked right on me. Sometimes you have an idea in your head of what you want, but what looks good on you might be different. What issues are you having with your veil? Are you not sure that you want a veil?
  13. I personally think Claudia is great and I am going to go with her. I think she has beautiful photos and her pricing is reasonable. I find Claudia is pretty quick with responding...she usually replies to me within 48 hours
  14. That's awesome that it turned out well! I guess we have to give our BM's a bit more credit when we are questioning them! Can't wait to see pics!
  15. Thanks Nikki....I obviously wasn't paying enough attention! Shannon, you look gorgeous! I love your BM dresses and the yellow bows on the chairs are beautiful!

  17. I think walking down with your brother is a great idea! If your daughter wants to as well, that could be nice too!
  18. Thanks for the info Anelise......I'm not sure if it matters if you book through Lomas. I didn't book through Lomas and Claudia thought I could go to that beach...not sure what the deal is. I'm pretty sure that Azul works with Lomas for the wedding packages. That is where you get all the decorations, etc.. from. I dont have to worry about it anymore because my complaints worked and they waived the $500 fee for me. If you go on the Lomas website, click on planning, then photographers, caribe photo is on there and you can click on their website to see their work.
  19. I originally found this thread because I was trying to find out if people are even registering while having a DW. I want to register, I just wasn't sure if it was appropriate since people are paying to come to the wedding...I'm assuming most of you think its fine?? I havent done a ton of planning yet, but here's what I have in mind so far. 1. Registry: Bed Bath and Beyond, Home outfitters, Williams Sonoma 2. OOT bags: not sure yet.... 3. Wedding Attire: Bridal gown: Having it made by a place in Oakville called Leslie Giles Bridal. Groom: Linen suit from M for Men. MOH dress and MOB dress from BCBG. Best Man shirt from Banana Republic and haven't got pants yet. 4. Rings: Knar Jewelery 5. Invitations: Save the Dates sent out and created by THe Wedding Holiday. Formal Invites will be sent out later and I will make them using supplies from Michaels. By the Way, how early should formal invites be sent out and when should RSVPs be expected? 6. Flowers: at resort - fresh 7. Decor: Not sure yet 8. Travel Arrangements: We are booked through The Wedding Holiday and I can't remember who the flights with.... 9. Are you active on any other Canadian Forums? (if yes which ones): no 10. Other: ________________
