I think it is a good idea to send out invites. My question is, when should formal invites be sent out?

Anelise and Katie, I see that you are both traveling from the UK. My sister in law and her family live in england and are being very slow on getting prices for how much it will be to come from England. Do you know how much approximately it is for the flight and 7 night all inclusive stay using Thomson? Then I can call my sister in law and give her the information which might make it easier for her to get on booking.

My biggest issue was that I booked 2 weeks before this policy had changed, and then they tell me after I booked that it's an extra $500. Anyway, The Wedding Holiday was amazing, and they sorted it out for me, so the 500 fee is waved...i'm not sure what is happening with other brides who have booked already as well. Claudia emailed me and said that if you want to use her, you can have your reception at Maroma Beach Paradise, which she thinks Lomas will provide transportation to. Actually, instead of me trying to relay what she said to me, I will just post her email she sent me. She told me to pass the mssage on to people who want to use her. This is the message from Claudia to me: Hi Meghan, I think you are an active member of the BDW forum right?? we have found a way around the new policy about outside photographers at the Azul, working with Lomas TRavel what those brides can do is having their Ceremony at MAROMA BEACH PARADISE I think Lomas would provide transportation, a room for the bride to get ready, and to be honest the beach at the Maroma beach is so NICE much better than the Azul locations. Both dresses are beautiful. I think i like option a best, but it depends on what style you want. I think option A is fancier, maybe a bit more formal. If you want more beachy, option B might be a good choice.

I think that is really disrespectful of your BM's to insist on it being at your house, after your FH told them no. I don't understand these BMs who put all this stress on the brides. It is supposed to be relaxing for the bride...not adding on stress by asking them to host their own party and go out and get favours and decorations!

I'm so frustrated with the resort right now. I had booked Claudia, and now the resort is telling me I have to pay a $500 fee to bring her because she is no longer approved. This is ridiculous because when i booked her, she was approved and there was no additional fee that needed to be paid. For those of you have or are planning on bringing your photographer from home, would u mind giving me an approx. cost? I dont know if it is better just to bring someone else...I really dont want to spend a ton of money but I dont want to use the photographers because they really dont look that great.

KittenHeart that is terrible!! What is her issue with going?? It must be something else aside from cost if she wont' go even when you offer to pay! Family and friends can be so stressful when it comes to stuff like this. I don't know why people can't just be supportive. They must not realize how important this day is and how they are letting us down by acting this way.

Hey Aneliese, It is true that Claudia is no longer approved at the Sensatori. I emailed Grace (the wedding coordinator) and Claudia asking if this was the case. Claudia emailed me back and told me that it is true. Only people who booked Claudia prior to today can still use her, otherwise she is no longer approved. I have no idea why this is....I didn't ask. Luckily I booked her just a week and a half ago! It's pretty disappointing though...she and her team look amazing!

Meesh, if you post a review, could you also let us know how the weather is? That was my one concern about going in July (I'm going next year). Usually that is the rainy season for a lot of places down south, but i've heard the mayan isn't supposed to get much rain, so i'm hoping that is case!

Meesh, have an awesome time and I can't wait to hear all about it! Nikki, that really sucks that's happening to you. Have you asked your sister why she hasn't booked yet? Did you send out real invitations? I am going to send an email out in a few weeks, just when its under a year till our wedding, and remind everyone to book. I think I will send out actual invitations in November or December and ask for an RSVP for January or February. I'm hoping that will get some people moving as well. Maybe u should send out invitations asap and ask for a response immediately.

I also talked in person to friends and family who i am very close to about booking right away. Other than being a little pushy, I don't know what you can do. People are funny though...some friends of my parents (who I barely even know) booked right away to come on the trip, yet my fiances family are taking a while to book. How many people do you have coming so far?

Hi OMT, We are using a TA, The Wedding Holiday, and all of our guests have booked through them. I think it is easier for the guests because the TA knows exactly what is going on with the wedding group and where everyone needs to stay as opposed to just booking online.

Thanks for the websites for the fans and lanterns girls! I was looking at the lanterns on the websites, and it looks like they require cords. Was this a problem for any of you who used lanterns? I also noticed there are battery operated ones but they look a bit different and are more expensive. I'm just not sure how the cords could be hidden. Any suggestions?

Hey everyone! For those of you who have bought fans for your guests or are planning to, where is the best place to get them and how much are they about? I would also like to bring those coloured round lanterns that can be hung but im not sure where to get them from. Any suggestions??
