  1. Hey girls, I just posted a thread with our Elizabeth Medina pics! Here is the link if you want to check it out... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t42700 My review is written and I am in the middle of typing it up (wrote it up last weekend while I was at a conference...so wasn't able to type it)
  2. After weeks of anticipation, our pictures are up on Elizabeth Medina's blog and we also received our wedding/TTD slideshow. I am seriously so excited right now! I honestly can't say enough about Elizabeth. Having her do our photos was by far one of the best decisions that we made. She is truly amazing! I could go on...but I'll save it for my review! Here is the link to Elizabeth's blog (Kristin & Ryan at Iberostar Paraiso Lindo) Elizabeth Medina Photography and if you want to check out our amazing slideshow... Kristin and Ryan
  3. Congratulations and welcome! I got married at the Iberostar Lindo on April 1. You will have an amazing wedding at the Maya...the resort is incredible. You should join our Iberostar brides thread...there is a ton of information already there and lots of us girls to ask questions/share information.
  4. Stina168 - Welcome back and congrats! I'm so glad to hear that everything went well for you, especially with all of this nonsense with the swine flu. I can't wait to see some pictures!

I haven't seen any pics of this EL FOGON can you describe it? If you have any pics of the steak house, I would love to see them I seen a pic of the french/gourmet and they have these crazy ass dolls somehow up in the ceiling balcony thingy (i don't do dolls yep that would freak me out all night with these things starring at me)!!! So if any of you went to EL FOGON or the Steakhouse (El Rancho) or even the Cajun and have any pics or can describe what it looks like I'm all eyes ohhh and ears! my email is: [email protected] I am totally with you...when I first saw the huge horns hanging from the ceiling in the pictures of the Steakhouse I thought that there was no way that I could have my wedding dinner there. The area of the Steakhouse where our wedding dinner was held didn't have the huge horns hanging from the ceiling, it just had little ones over the lights. And honestly, as concerned as I was with them, I honestly didn't notice them. I will look through my dinner pics and see if I have any that kind of show the room-I'll send them your way. I also have a pic of the steakhouse but it wasn't the area where our dinner was held (it is the one with the giant horns hanging!) I'm trying my hardest to remember the decor in the Italian restaurant and as far as I can remember, there wasn't anything "over the top", it was really nice. I just asked my hubster and he agrees that it was pretty nice. Sorry, I don't have any pics of the Italian...that's a lie, I have 1 of us eating there but it isn't the greatest to show the room (i'll send it to ya' anyways).

We had our dinner at the Steakhouse as it was the most "private" option without being able to rent out a private restaurant. It was great, we had a complete area sectionned off for us and it truly felt like we had our own private room. We went with the steak option for the menu. Although lots of people really enjoyed it, many didn't as they don't cook it 'to order' so you just get what they give you. I had the chicken and it was awesome. If I could make any recommendation, it would be to go with the chicken instead of the steak. We ate at the Italian restaurant a couple of times and the food was really good. It was probably our favourite a-la-carte. The only thing about the Italian restaurant is that there isn't really an area that you can have 'to yourself'. I guess it comes down to what your priority is..do you want more of a private dinner or not. I would personally say that the food at the Italian El Fogon was the best but that's not saying that the Steakhouse food wasn't any good. If I were to go back and do it again, I'd do it at the steakhouse and order the chicken instead of the steak. I hope this helps! I checked and I don't have a picture of the El Fogon, but I do have one of the Steakhouse. Let me know if I can answer any more of your questions and I'll try my best!

I will be offline tonight. Heading to the Nuggets playoffs. But I will send it tomorrow or tonight if I am back on. Thanks! It's probably much easier as you still have all of the info and I have to go hunting for it! The review is coming along nicely...I'm away from work at a workshop over the next couple of days and plan on using my time at the workshop wisely to finish up my review. I'll have it up by Sunday!
  8. They look great! Your guests are going to love them! I just have to add...we did these for our OOT bags and they were by far the most popular item that was in the bag. They were an absolute hit with our guests and I don't know how many times people thanked us for putting them in.
  9. Ok, I am home now and managed to recover some of my info for the Lindo. I could post links but then you'll have to use points to open them all up...so it might be better if I email them. I am sure that it is going to be the same as BBtoB so I don't know if it's really worth sending (she willl probably have all of the info as I think I may have already emptied my recycle bin with some things in it) but I'm still willing to email if needed. Let me know. Kristin
  10. Wow, that is crazy that they are closing all of those properties and upgrading everyone to the Lindo/Maya/Grand. I am going to check as soon as I get home what info I still have on my computer. I'm afraid that I deleted most of it but it may still be in the good ol' recycle bin. I was working on my review on the weekend and I vow to have it done by this weekend. I may just be the slowest review writer ever. My apologies for those of you that have been waiting so patiently! I will check as soon as I get home and will post anything that I have.
  11. Congrats and welcome (from a fellow Winnipeger!). You should join our Iberostar thread... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27304
  12. We also weren't expecting anything from anybody but after being asked time and time again where we were registered we decided to go ahead and create a gift registry. We really didn't need to register but we found that it was important to many people to give us a gift for our wedding. 13. Thanks for all of the wonderful comments girls! Our wedding day was honestly everything that I had always dreamed about and more (I know, super cheesy, but it's true!). I would go back and do it all over again! Quote: Originally Posted by jessi_621 I LOVE your dress!! Where did you get it? It was perfect for our DW.
  14. Hey girls... So I have finally posted a few non-pro pics from our wedding at the Lindo. Still working on the review, should be done this weekend! In the meantime, here are a few pics. Kristin http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41361
  15. And a few from our reception at the convention centre He put cake on my nose and I responded by smearing cake in his eye... That's it for now! These are just some of the pics that we've gathered from family!
  16. Dinner at the Steakhouse My sisters, neice and I (family tradition)
  17. I know that my Iberostar girls have been patiently waiting for me to post some pics from our wedding at the Iberostar Lindo. Although we have been back for a couple of weeks now, life has been so hectic and I just haven't got around to posting anything. I am working on my review but here are a few non-pro pics to keep you happy for now! (We are anxiously awaiting our professional pictures from Elizabeth Medina!) Me and my flower girl before heading down for the ceremony With Maid of Honor and flower girl Groom and Best Man
  18. I had posted a thread about this awhile back and got a few responses. Here is the link to the thread... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t26560

Any suggestions on how you handled this so we dont just wait around all day? tHANKS! We printed up information of a meeting place and time for our guests and we had Toni deliver them for us (they just slid the paper under each guests door). You could have them all delievered on the 3rd with the exception of your uncle. Another option is to leave a note for everyone at the check in desk and the resort can give it to them as each person checks in.

When during the ceremony do you exchange rings? Thanks again for all of your help! Jenn Jenn, No worries about bombarding with questions! I had so many questions and don't know what I would've done without this site. I know that I'll try my best to answer as many as I can when I'm on here! We exchanged rings as we were saying our vows (which are not in the script that Paraisobeachbride posted and are not in the copy of ours either). When it was time to say our vows, the judge asked us if we had prepared our own. We hadn't, so she went ahead with the traditional "I Kristin, take you Ryan..." and had us repeat after her. We exchanged rings at this point. Kristin

Needless to say, I'm glad it worked out for you guys. Right up until yesterday, the WC said Spanish translation is needed. They really need to get it together. Valuable time & money is spent going through this process. This makes absolutely no sense! I don't know if the WCs realize the red tape & running around involved to obtain these documents. Well, you've put my mind at ease.... THANK YOU. Did they seriously tell you that the Spanish translation is needed? All I can say is that we showed up with the long version of our birth certificates in English at our meeting, Toni took them and photocopied them and gave them back to us. Nothing was ever said about having translated copies and we had no issues with having a legal ceremony. I just don't get it and am so frustrated by this entire issue with the resort. Have you been dealing with Toni or Lily

Oh my god, I just went to look at your pics again to see if I could find your judge in one of your pictures....and we did have the same judge! I absolutely loved her and even my guests were talking about how great she was after the ceremony. I think she gave me at least 5 chances to change my mind about getting married during the ceremony and she told us that a Mexican kiss lasts about 5 minutes so she'd start her watch and tell us when we could stop! She was actually quite funny. And yup, same basic ceremony wording!

Why do they go around telling these poor lindo/maya brides that they need all of that crap when obviously they don't? Ugh, they don't even know wtf they are talking about when it comes to their own processes. That just makes me so freakin' mad, especially after ALL of the work that I know YOU and I both put in to finding out who's supposed to bring what to which resort (as far as civil ceremony req's go). DH and I were also prepared to just have a symbolic ceremony if worse came to worse, though thankfully it didn't...but still! *HUGE HUGS* to ya! That is just insane.... Looks like my post earlier about lindo/maya civil ceremony reqs is out the window...but that's ok, it means less work for all you lovely ladies! You honestly don't know how frustrating the process was. When we wanted to focus on getting everything ready for the wedding we were left with dealing with the fact that they lost our original documents and trying to deal with them is nearly impossible. They just don't care. I am actually in the process of writing a letter to Toni and Lily about changing the requirements written on all of their documents for the Lindo/Maya to save future brides the trouble and money that is involved in the process that is NOT even needed! It is the one and only thing that I am bitter about related to our wedding. FI is also dealing with the Mexican Consulate about our lost documents and the $200 money order that they cashed for their apparent services on our documents (that we still haven't received...how does that work?). At this point, I don't even care, I just don't want our original birth certificates floating out there somewhere!
