I think alin & mako may feel that its unfair about the whole situation not just about any particular brides. None of the displaced DT brides want to go to a wedding factory either. We picked Dreams Tulum because they only do 2 weddings a day Max, but most people have the day to themselves. It just sucks that we are put in a position that is beyond our control and lost the resort we spent so long planning and researching for. Paradisus is one of our only options so it is hard to accept that it is also ruled out because of their policy. I respect the policy but in circumstances like this it can be frustrating. Imagine if you were told that Paradisus closed and the other place you wanted to go to wouldnt let you because other people didnt want to be gracious. Also, I am sharing my wedding day with DreamsTBride and in no way do I feel like that takes away from my wedding. Im happy that we get to share the experience but we are in no way feeling like we are sharing our day. We wont even see each other for the day. I just think we should all be understanding that this is just an unfortunate situation and some peoples hearts are a little broken over the whole thing. I know mine is.

My TA emailed me this morning and said she cant send any more new guests to Barcelo cus they are sold out? I have 2 more people in the process of booking last minute through Expedia that arent having a problem. Does anyone have any last minute guests coming? Have they been told Barcelo is sold out?

Joann-I havent heard from Landy so Im not sure if its changed or not. I dont really care what time as long as its not dark for pics. I emailed her today with a couple questions cus Im kinda confused how the wedding planning is going to fly now (ie. menu options so i can print my menus, and if i still get the $20 option for dinners, ect). I also asked if we can get married at the chapel on the Colonial part. If not Ide be fine with the Gazebo, but beach is not going to happen. Ill get married on a roof before a beach haha I HATE sand! It looks like a nice resort, maybe a little less private than DT but still beautiful. It will all work out for us!

Finally got my confirmation. So I will be joining you girls at Barcelo for Nov 10th-17th. Should be a hell of a trip!

His parents were raised in a rural South American community that STRONGLY believe that cats are bad luck. They have been known to kill them if someone brings them onto buses or into homes, ect. There are a lot of bus accidents and natural disasters there and for the most part they blame it on superstition. His cousin actually had a cat and tried to move with it her and almost had a taxi guy kill it. Its so sad to me, but if people are taught young to be scared of them its hard to change their minds. It would be similar to me going to a country where people eat puppies and just ordering up a bunch to eat....not going to happen!!! Obviously, he isnt as fanatical about them but he still never liked them. I just want him to get it out of his mind tho because I would never want to pass that along to our children.

Does anyone know if all the safes have an emergency key to open that the staff has? My moms friend had things stolen from her safe in Mexico last year. Apparently some of the maids had keys that open the safes that they are supposed to use if people forget their passcodes. Im not an expert on safes, but I know we are trying to bring as little expensive things as possible to try and avoid any problems. My mom is thinking about getting a small lockable box for her stuff to bring with her. Hopefully they dont steal the whole box!

I never knew they could do that! Thats crazy. It sounds like Barcelo is going to be full of brides in the next couple of weeks. I think we need to plan a night to get together! By that time we will be laughing our butts off about all of this.

No, not yet. FI has been at work all day and Annabell (who were dealing with) doesnt speak English. I dont wanna embarass myself by attempting talking to her with my horrible Spanish. FI will call in the morning. I feel better knowing that you guys are all taken care of so I must be too right? Amesharpe, Where it says "These drinks are also included to Club Premium guests and guests of Barcelo Palace." Doesnt that mean if we are guests at Barcelo Palace we would get them? Maybe Im reading it wrong tho?

Im not official yet! Im jealous, I want to know!!! Hopefully in the morning! How are they able to fit so many extra people in Barcelo? Are they not at capacity in Nov?

Luckily we went to the States last summer and exchanged money when the rates were on par. We still have a lot of cash left over which is good for spending money, but nothing can be done about the exchange now. It really does suck because not only is it in USD, but flights and packages from Canada usually cost more too. I have more guests from the States coming than Canada because it is cheaper for them. Canadians are nice people, we should get a break!!!

Nueland, Im hoping they will get back to me today/tomorrow with an answer since Im the day after you. I asked for Barcelo Maya Palace so maybe we will end up there at the same time!

Joann, At this point I am just hoping for a resort out side of Cancun. I like Barcelo Colonial a little more than Barcelo Mayan Palace. I also got him to ask about Paradisus, Azul Sensatori, and Puerto Aventuras (just to see if it would be open in time). She will give us the options once she sees where we could possibley fit in. I already know Im not going to get that hacienda look that I was hoping for for the pictures, but Ill settle for something clean and quiet and nice. I cant believe how emotional Im getting over this!! One minute Im so upset the next Im just chill and back and forth..Im tiring myself out!

Nueland, Dont worry, they havent moved us before you. You are a day before us so Im sure they will take care of you first. I have had to push to get an answer sooner than Nov 1 because Im leaving on Oct 30th to go on vacation and wont be able to contact anyone after that. I think they are trying to give us an answer of which hotel we will move to by next Monday so I will have time to sort it out before I leave. So technically we arent moved, were just talking about it. Try and email them a list of your guests ASAP though so they can start working on it if they have to.

Yah we have two little flowergirls coming, so Secrets is out of the question. Even if they did make exceptions I wouldnt want it because I want a place that is kid friendly for them. They havent mentioned anything about Barcelo, I will bring that up and see if its an option for us.

My FI talked to Abigail at DT today and it sounds like they will try and work on moving us somewhere besides Cancun. For us the key is not using our travel agent but just speaking directly with the resort. Im hoping they will be able to arrange something for us!

FI speaks Spanish so I have him calling the resort as I type this. Hes just as upset as I am, which is why I think I am so upset. As the brides were in charge for the most part of creating the perfect day for the grooms too. And if hes disappointed that makes me feel so terrible. Ill let you guys know what they tell us.

I just woke up and found out my travel agent has switched us to Dreams Cancun without even asking us. I am so mad Ive been crying for the last 3 hours. There isnt a chapel there and I do not want to get married outside at all. I want to cancel the whole friggen thing now. There is no way I want our hard earned money going towards what we dont want. Im not saying its not a nice resort, it is just so far from what we wanted and paid for. I cant deal with this disappointment so close to the wedding.

Dont apologize!! I think we are all feeling the exact same way! I know I am. I haven't slept much since this all started and I had a moment today on the phone with my parents where I completely lost it. Its really hard to just fly by the seat of your pants with your wedding. I dont think anyone on here is going to mind bridezilla posts because we all do it at one time or another! WAITING!

Does having an option mean we can choose Dreams Tulum?? Why would anyone want to move resorts if they dont have to? That doesnt really make sense to me I guess. I wonder if thats there way of hinting that were going to be moved. This is soooo depressing!!!!!

OMG Joann! I just was reading your post and noticed your countdown ticker and nearly had a heart attack!!!! 24 days!! I havent been counting to the wedding really and seeing that number surprised the crap outta me! Ive been so preoccupied with our trip to Toronto before that. Everything is crossed and Im praying it will open! Im also on my BEST behaviour in case karma wants to help out the situation!!
