I experienced the email rejection too. Seems like it's definitely something wrong with their email. Hopefully, it's resolved quickly. As far as the TV/DVD, I would think they would have something available being that there's a huge convention center onsite. If it's structured for business mtgs, they should have video equipment/projector readily available for presentations. Just my two cents.

We have people that are still undecided, so now I'm trying to estimate our guests which makes planning even more fun! LOL I'm glad to know I have until May 15th to get the wedding details sheet submitted!!! Cool!! I'm checking out of the Maya on the 7th, then heading over to the Grand. I'll be back on the 8th to say goodbye to my last guests, so I'll be roaming around. I surprised myself with the fans. I tend to procrastinate, so I wanted to tackle as many tasks as I could before May. If things start to pile up, I'll get discouraged and start convincing myself not to do anything. To be quite frank, the stragglers are a pain in the @$$!!! I just wish they would tell me if they're coming or not. It would make things SO much easier. I don't want to hound people or seem like I'm begging them to come. I just want them to RSVP... a simple yes or no. At this point, I decided to guesstimate 70 guests. That's what I'm preparing for. If it turns out to be a little more, I'll be sure they get a favor but I can't guarantee a welcome bag with the same goodies the early bookers will get. I just don't understand how people can just "show-up." I would think people would be considerate and realize this is an overseas trip, not a local reception hall. Sorry ladies... I had to vent. As you can see, this is a 'hot' topic for me.

Ryansgirl -- Best of luck and most importantly, ENJOY!!! Quote: Originally Posted by kimrae99 Briscoecrown - I just noticed that you are getting married at the Maya just 10 days before me! I'll be leaving Mexico on 6/10. My planning is coming along. I have spurts. One week I'm in full wedding mode, the next I don't want to be bothered. This weekend I'm tying ribbons on raffia fans. Hopefully, I can stay focused long enough to finish up. I started filling out the wedding details with the little information I had and quickly got annoyed! LOL There are just so many things I'm still undecided about. So, needless to say, I have a lot of blanks!! I couldn't even fill out something as simple as the number of guests because I still have stragglers telling us that they're coming (BUT, haven't booked anything!). Go figure! The WC told me I should submit it a month before the wedding. So you know what that means......... She'll get it on May 5th at 11:59pm! HA!!

I haven't even begun to pack, I am a terrible procrastinator!! We are doing the Vitrales room, I thought about the lounge set-up, but it seemed like a lot of $$ for just a couple of hours so I decided to skip it. It's so nice though!! Are you thinking of using it? I'm still debating about the lounge set-up. Since we have 54 people coming (right now), the Vitrales is not an option. WC said we either have to use the disco (BIG NEGATIVE) or the convention center. The convention center looked ok, but it could use some sprucing up. I'll have to rent the DJ equipment anyway because the resort doesn't have a large enough speaker system for the amount of people in the convention center. As it stands, I don't think we'll make the lounge decision until we actually get down there and see the convention center for ourselves. Unless, Ryansgirl comes back with rave reviews about it. I believe she's doing the lounge set up in the convention center.

I leave in 2 weeks & I cannot believe that my time is almost here!!! Hey Carla!!! I can't believe your wedding is almost here. Time really flew by!! Are you all set... packed & ready to go? Did you decide on your reception location? Are you going with the lounge set-up? I know, I know... lots of questions.

If you like the idea of the lounge decoration it can be placed as well there, it looks so nice if not just you can handle the equipment for dancing , enclosed the options We have decided to go with the convention centre and we will likey get the lounge set-up. As much as I think it would be so nice to have it outside, Toni hasn't sent us a picture of the actual reception set-up for the shopping center and I don't want to have to worry about the weather and mosquitos! We are waiting to hear how much the lounge set-up will cost without the DJ/equipment for dancing as we are bringing DJ Bob in to do our wedding. I'll make sure to let you know if we hear anything! Cool!! Thanks for the additional info. Having the reception outside with the lounge set-up is tempting... HOWEVER, the thought of mosquitos partying with us, is making my skin itch. & besides, the weather is a factor. Any idea what the 'equipment for dancing' is? I'm curious to hear the price Toni quotes.

Kristin Hey Kristin, I'm actually contemplating the same thing. Right now I have 50 guests confirmed which is slightly over the amount for the Vitrales room (which I was told 40 is the max). So, I'm considering the convention center... & maybe even the lounge set-up (depending on cost, of course). For some reason, I think the convention center is located near the shopping center. I didn't realize they were two separate options for the reception. I think the shopping center is only available for the cocktail party. I definitely need clarification. If I remember correctly, Michelle had her reception in the Los Vitrales room.

Hi Linda!!! WELCOME!! I'm an Iberostar bride getting married in June too! I'm staying at the Maya and our honeymoon will be at the Grand. There are quite a few of us on this forum. There's also a thread going for Iberostar brides under the Riviera Maya section. There's plenty of info & reviews.

Also, I'd like to use the Vitrales room, but I don't have my final guest count yet, so I'm not 100% sure that it will be big enough. Do you know how far in advance I have to tell them that I want that room? Thanks! Oh! That reminds me.... when I asked the WC about larger groups she said that if your group is more than 40 people you can use the convention center or the disco (which we know is not a likely option). However, she didn't tell me the cost associated. Michelle, by any chance did you get a chance to see the convention center?

Everyone has done so much and seems to be so good at this Hi Gail! Sounds like you're moving in the right direction. I'm guessing you're not going to use the resort photographer. If not, there are several photographers in the area that come highly recommended. If you go back a few pages in this thread, a couple of brides posted some info. If you're a DIY person, you can easily iron-on the monogram to a canvas bag. Many brides on this site have done it. There's a sticky thread in the OOT section with great pics & instructions.

HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES!!! Now that the holidays are out of the way, it's time to get back our preparations. Some of my RSVPs are coming back and we're up to 49 people going. I'm starting to get a little nervous now. I feel like it’s my responsibility to make sure things go smoothly and everyone is happy. I feel like I should be planning an elaborate agenda for my guests (although I have no idea what the resort's entertainment schedule is). Did anyone have a welcome party or organize a private event for your guests on the property (besides the rehearsal dinner)? Did the WC offer anything similar? I'm even second guessing my resort choice now (which I know is crazy). We're not changing at this stage. I just really hope everyone is pleased with our choice.

Hi ktlorens... there are a few brides on this forum that have gotten married at the Lindo. All have had great reviews. There's also an Iberostar Bride Thread that has plenty of info. I'm not too savy with uploading info (i.e. links), but I'm sure if you do a search using keyword Iberostar it'll come up.

I printed all of mine and cut each one by hand. It was tedious, but well worth it. Based on a lot of the threads, most of us either used scissors or the rotary cutter. It's definitely a lot of work and time consuming. I created 100 invitations. I had to take breaks often. It took me a couple of weeks to complete the entire project (ordering paper, printing, cutting, assembly & mailing).

Thanks for all the feedback. Your responses put me at ease. Now I don't feel like a meanie. I'm going to continue to refer guests to the travel agent and encourage them to research other options on their own. I swear some folks are just plain ole lazy. I don't see what the big deal is about searching for their own hotel. You guys are right -- we have enough on our plates with planning the wedding. Myda77, I couldn't agree with you more. My FI & I attended a DW in May. We absolutely loved the fact that we had a chance to participate in the group activities and spend time with the couple.

Hi folks... I'm having a slight issue with some of my guests and need some feedback from you guys. Quite a few of my guests have asked for alternate resorts to stay at (mostly because of the costs). Now, I've battled with this idea from the beginning and decided not to provide a list of hotels in the area. Call it selfish or a way of keeping my sanity, but I didn't want to get involved with pricing & comparing amenities of other properties for my guests. I feel that if they want to stay somewhere else, it's their responsibility to do the research.... either through my TA, their own TA or a basic search online. As much as I want them to make the trip, I don't want to take on the extra task. I've expressed it time & time again that they're NOT obligated to stay at our resort. They're welcome to stay elsewhere and I'll even take care of their day passes the day of the ceremony. HOWEVER, I don't want to be responsibile for making mulitple reservations and arranging transportation. I recently sent out our invitations and this has started the line of questioning again. I feel that if I give into this request, it's just going to lead to additional questions (i.e. how much is it, how far is it from my resort, etc). So my question is... Did you guys provide alternate lodging for your guests and to what extent? Sorry for the longwinded post.
