  1. Day before yesterday, I went to a bridal salon after work and found a dress I really liked. At this salon, you buy that dress rather than ordering it. Its a discount salon but designer dresses. So my mom drove in 2 hours this morning to see it and bought it for me on the spot! I now have my wedding dress hanging in the closet and my wedding is 8 months from tomorrow. Did I get my dress too early? It's everything I was looking for (fit, color, front, back, price!) My only concern is that I hadn't tried on enough dresses. I'm really bad with commitment and do this back and forth on everything (apartments, cars, jobs, any big decision). Please tell me 8 months before is not too soon!
  2. Have you considered chipping in towards their dress? You can always tell them you will pay the first $50 or $100 towards the dress. Or offer to buy the shoes or accessories or something. I am paying for my BMs dresses but I only have 2 and we set a $100 limit (they are picking their own). In my frugal opinion, I think they shouldnt have to pay more than $150 for a dress they probably wont wear again. Just my opinion!
  3. If you really like it, order it and then you always have the option to return it. I don't think it matters where you get the dress from. I think it's very pretty and has great reviews. Hope it works!
  4. Thank you for such a generous opportunity! Anyone would be thrilled to win And welcome to the forum!
  5. Here is a link to a photographer that has some BD pics online (pretty clean ones): Lynn Michelle Photography | Dallas photographer | Texas photographer | Destination Photography Worldwide She calls them "Eye Candy" so click there. It might give you some ideas and angles to think about. About the 5th picture in is a girl laying down, wrapped in her veil (the shot is from above her head). Hope that helps!
  6. I think purses are hard to shop for because everybody likes different styles. Unless you really know your BMs style, you might run the risk of it just sitting in their closet. Great thought - its up to you!
  7. I love the work shirt idea! If she still has her veil, I've seen pics with the veil and boy shorts (she will always be his bride). I think his hobbies/interests will be cute! My hint - be very aware of what is in the background. A shelf or tv stand makes it look like it was done in your living room. Otherwise...have fun!
  8. I know some members have done site visits this summer...anyone check out Secrets Capri? I would love to hear about it! Thanks...
  9. Looks like Mockingbird Bridal to me! I think everyone can find something they love there - its great! Gorgeous dress
  10. Count me as another vote for the brown. Brown is also an easier color for most people to wear. And you look great in your dress!
  11. We are looking for a more intimate resort. We are also considering The Royal Playa Del Carmen. If anyone has compared The Royal with Secrets I would love to hear it! My job has been surper busy lately and is getting in the way of my wedding planning! Thanks all!
  12. Thanks for the reply! Did you enjoy the beach - I've seen some reports that it's a bit small.
  13. We are seriously considering Secrets Capri for our March 2009 wedding. I've done searches, but there is very little about the resort on here. Does anyone know of (or has anyone seen) a wedding there? I realize it's AI and Adults Only which doesn't make it an option for lots of people, but I'm hoping someone (even on their honeymoon) has been there and observed a wedding The travel reviews on other sites (trip advisor, travelocity) have been great - but none mention a wedding. Thanks for any opinions!
  14. Thanks so much for that link!! I couldn't find anything like that on American Airlines website.
  15. We are trying to choose a DW location. At first, I fell in love with the DR but upon further review, getting there and back is a pain. Well, getting there is fine. It's getting home that is the problem. 90% of flights have an overnight layover (every day of the week). The 10% that dont have an overnight layover have a 5 hour layover in Miami! How can this be possible? Ugh. Anyway, now I am moving on to other destinations and need suggestions! About 20 of my 40 people will be flying from Dallas (others are from NY, LA, Denver, Baltimore/Wash DC, Pittsburgh - basically all over). Does anyone know where I can find out which caribbean islands have direct or frequent flights from Dallas? I'm open to any island (FI doesn't want Mexico) but we are on a budget. Only hotel requirement is all-inclusive. I'm trying to avoid going on the airline website and entering every possible destination to see the available flights. Thanks!!
  16. Welcome! I am undecided but leaning towards DR & PC as well! And yes, there is a lot of information. Let me know if you can't find something - I feel like I've searched for it all
  17. I meant to vote for dress #1 but accidently hit #2. Sorry! I love, love the first one - it's beautiful.
  18. Gorgeous! Thanks for posting. I'm really hoping PCC works out for us.
  19. Hello everyone! My name is Ashli and I am going to marry Matt on March 27, 2009 (hopefully - that date is not set in stone yet). We are in the beginning stages of planning and actually nothing is set in stone yet. We are thinking about Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Right now, Paradisus Punta Cana is our first choice and Majestic Colonial is also an option. The only problem - flights coming home are 95% red eyes. Does anyone know something I don't about that? Also, we are open to other suggestions. We definately want an AI, in the Caribbean, and prefer places with Adult Only sections (there are no kids coming to the wedding). We are on a budget - no more than $3000 per couple for 4 nights. Looking forward to all the great advice. Thanks! ashli
