  1. Welcome to the forum! Come join us on the Sandals forum if you decide to go there!
  2. From what I understand fake flowers seem to be okay...I'm not sure about using an outside vendor there though...they have some strange rules! I read somewhere that someone said if they give you a problem to just tell them someone in your party is allergic to flowers lol...my mom actually IS allergic to everything so I won't have to lie! I'm taking artificial flowers with me so I can have them to keep!
  3. You're welcome! It almost seemed like they were trying to keep these some big hidden secret because I couldn't find pictures of them anywhwere! If you send me your email address I can forward on what my coordinator sent me. I have the catalog and the price list. Bridget
  4. Can you take sand back to the US? I know customs is somewhat strict about what can and cannot be taken over the border.
  5. I finally got around to uploading these pictures to photobucket. These are the bouquets included in the free wedding package...one is carnations and one is daisies. Bridget
  6. I found out the answer to my alcohol question on another board...each person can bring back 2-1 liter bottles lol.
  7. Quote: Soil is considered the loose surface material of the earth in which plants, trees, and scrubs grow. In most cases, the soil consists of disintegrated rock with an admixture of organic material and soluble salts. Soil is prohibited entry unless accompanied by an import permit. Soil must be declared and the permit must be verified. That really stinks about the sand! I wanted to bring my own for the ceremony so I could find some colored (which I should probably start on NOW), but I wanted to bring some back off the beach. DARN! It's a good thing you mentioned that because I probably would have got stuck trying to come back through customs!!! Does anyone happen to know the rule with alcohol? Like how much one person can bring back to the US? We thought it would be fun to bring back some Jamaican Rum and my fiance plans to have everyone that isn't already buying some bring some back for him, too!
  8. Welcome Alicia! I'm getting married at SGOR on August 16! Bridget
  9. Quote: Today Darma told me that the sand ceremony is an extra $100 dollars. It sounds like everyone else was told that it is not an extra charge. I wonder if the price is for the supplies, like the vases and sand; she didn't specify. Any opinions on this? I emailed Darma to ask her about the sand ceremony and she told me that if you bring your own supplies that there is no charge. The $100 is to cover the vases and sand. She did tell me that you can't use sand off the beach so if you don't bring your own you'll have to buy it there. As far as the flowers go, she sent me pictures of the 2 bouquets included in the free wedding package, and there are daisies and carnations. If anyone is interested I'll try to post the pictures! Congratulations to those of you who have weddings coming really soon! Can't wait to see the pictures and hear all about it!!! Bridget
  10. Your dress is beautiful! You're going to make a really pretty bride As for dinner clothes, I have an obsession with sundresses, so I plan on taking some cute simple dresses that I can just throw on with a pair of sandals. Bridget
  11. Wow, so many of you are getting really close to your weddings!! I can't wait to hear about them and see the pictures! I can't imagine how excited you all must be!!! Quote: As a sidenote, I'm picking up my dress tomorrow night from David's Bridal. It had to be taken in - another sign that the stress of work and wedding has me wasting away! I'll post pics when I get back tomorrow night! Asteff, I bought my dress at DB, too! I had a pretty positive experience there. I ordered it April 26 and it came on Monday! They had told me July so I was somewhat nervous, but it came in way ahead of time. What dress did you get?
  12. I can't help you a whole lot, but I'll tell you what I do know! I booked directly through Sandals on a Wednesday...Thursday night someone from the wedding department called me to tell me what documents I would need and when the soonest time I was I could get married (due to residency requirements). They asked what day, I told them and then they gave me the available times that day. After that I was transferred to another wedding planner who has been working on the more specific wedding details with me (Sharon). I'm not sure about the hair and make up, but I'm pretty sure that has to be paid in full before the trip so I would think she could do that for you! Bridget
  13. Congratulations! I am so excited but I do cringe a little when I see all the more time I have left and think of all that I have yet to do! Have things been working out better with your wedding planner? Bridget
  14. I never stopped to think about there being a difference! I just sent it to you, hopefully it will help you out a little! Bridget
  15. Alainna-- You should have received an email from your wedding coordinator with a wedding catalog. If you didn't, let me know and I can forward mine on to you. It has all the different options (flowers, decorations, etc.) and the prices. Bridget
  16. Welcome Mrs. R2Be--this is such a great place for information. The girls here have already been incredibly helpful to me!
  17. Asteff-- The Floral Elegance PB Collection is beautiful! I'll have to look at the bouquet pictures when I get home to see your bouquet. Everything is organized in a binder and for fear of driving myself mad before August, I decided I really couldn't take it everywhere with me
  18. Quote: We came up with some neat ideas, especially for trash the dress sessions! TA Jennifer--I would love to hear any fun ideas you came up with! We actually have 14 people booked and 2 considering going...we really expect maybe 4 at the most! Since they are making such an effort to come, I really want to make it worth their trip (while keeping it affordable!). You mentioned about being able to buy flowers for your hair and cake in another post...do you do that once you're there or do you have to make arrangements ahead of time? Do you by any chance have pictures of the free bouquets? Thanks so much for the extra help--and for the pictures! I keep checking for new ones!!! Bridget
  19. Amanda, That was a huge help! Thanks so much! The $25 reception is what we're looking at. We have 12-16 people (including us) going, so it's still fairly reasonable...we figured since we had so many people coming for our wedding that we at least owed it to them to have an hour long reception!!! Do you happen to know what the regular ceremony includes? I'm not sure if we're going to do the sand ceremony yet, just trying to decide what we can do and what we want to do. I'm thinking of making a cake topper to match my flowers so it won't be anything fancy, it will just personalize it a little bit! Thanks so much for answering my questions for me!!! Bridget
  20. I have a few questions I was hoping maybe somebody here could answer...sorry if they've been asked before! I tried to search around but didn't see these! Are you allowed to take your own cake topper and toasting glasses? Is the sand ceremony part of the regular ceremony or is that a special request? Can you even do that at SGOR? What about receptions? I think we're planning to do the upgrade to the hour long reception with hot and cold hor d'ouvres, but it seemed strange to pay more money for the same food...especially when we're having a large reception when we return. What's everyone else doing? Can we make group reservations at one of the restaurants? I'm trying to get as many details in order as I can and I keep thinking of more questions as I go!!! Bridget
  21. hollisandsteph, That has got to be nerve wracking not being able to get in touch with your wedding planner! It's hard enough planning a wedding from far away and through someone that you don't know! For those of you who have been planning for a while, can you think of anything I need to ask my wedding planner about? Maybe things that aren't really mentioned in the wedding materials that they send you? I'm just so afraid of missing something! Bridget
  22. Thanks for the welcome! We just decided at the end of March that we wanted to get married this August--we've been talking about it for quite a while but never actually set the date. I'm so afraid that I'm going to forget to ask about something or forget to do something that I'm doing all of the researching I can!!! Bridget
  23. Hi! I'm somewhat of a "newbie" to the forum. We're getting married on August 12 at SGOR! Bridget
  24. Thanks for such a warm welcome everyone! I didn't mean to post and run--but welll, we all know how weekends can be! Lizz, any pictures you can upload from SGOR would be great--I'm always hunting around the net for more pictures so I have a better idea of what to expect! Bridget
