  1. We haven't picked our first dance song yet, but I do have the song picked out for the Father/Daughter dance - "You Don't Have to Let Go" by Jessica Simpson, and it makes me bawl everytime I hear it.
  2. We went ahead and purchased travel insurance for our May 08 wedding. We purchased mainly in case one of us gets sick or is unable to travel. Fingers crossed that it won't be put to use!
  3. Today I was in the bedroom with FI, and I was trying on pants that finally fit me again, when I told him, "I'm not going to gain a lot of weight when we are pregnant." I MEANT to say, "I'm not going to gain a lot of weight when we are married." Oh my - now he thinks I'm hiding baby news from him and I'm just waiting until we're officially married to tell him! If it's true - it's truly a miracle! Just had to share that one
  4. My wedding is at 1 pm, and I am not having pictures taken before the ceremony, so my hair/make-up appt is set for 11 am at the resort's spa. So, I would say that you're OK starting by 4 pm. I'd personally like more than 2 hours to do everything - hair, make-up, getting dressed, get to the altar, but I do understand that the resort does have at least 1 wedding earlier than mine, and that bride probably has a hair/make-up appt too. Plus, that's less time for me to totally mess up what they put together for me!

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum. I'm a newbie as well - getting married at SGOR on 5/21/08, and I have nothing but good things to say about the ladies here!
  8. Like you, we knew we wanted to be near the water, or at least with a view of the ocean. With that said, we knew we didn't want to be directly on the beach for privacy and wind reasons. Being from Pennsylvania, there's plenty of pretty gardens we could have got married in around here! I was surprised we were able to pick the location so soon. I was fully prepared to take care of that when we got there. Most everything has been chosen so far. I think the only real detail we have to decide on when we get there is what kind of cake we want. We decided to go with the Tropical Passion photo package for $1800, which is the middle of the road one. I've seen some excellent examples of the pictures. I was on a site a few weeks back that had picture after picture of real wedding at Sandals. I'll try to find it and let you know the link. Did you select a photo package? Since we wanted a DVD, we decided that we might as well go for the whole kit and caboodle. I've started having wedding nightmares! Last night I dreamt that I arrived for my hair/make-up appt at Sandals and I couldn't find the spa, and then the front desk lady was mean I thought that weddingmares were just a myth...
  9. The nail files shouldn't be a problem bc they're actually an emory (sp?) board with a design on it. No sharp metal pieces on them. I thought the Tide Detergent was actually stain removal cloths until I got everything home and looked at it! Regardless I think it will be nice for everyone to have "just in case." They carry Banana Boat Suncreen with SPF 50 for $2.50 and $5, which is another definite must-have. I'm sure I'll be there several more times before the wedding!
  10. Just an FYI that Five Below is an excellent place to acquire items for OOT bags. The best part is that everything is $5 or less! They have everything from beach bags and towels, to name brand sunscreen and travel toiletries for almost unbeatable prices. The downside is that they're only located in PA, MD, DE, VA, and NJ. We just have our immediate families traveling to Jamaica with us for our wedding (3 couples and 3 singles), so I'm preparing a total of 6gift bags to distribute in a few weeks just as a Thank You for making the trip and so that they have things with them that they may not otherwise, or may accidentally forget Here's a list of the items that I came away with: Toothbrush Toothpaste Gum Banana Boat After Sun Lotion Wet wipes w/ aloe Tissues Tide Liquid Detergent Travel Sink Packs Nail file w/ carrying case Crest mouthwash and my favorite item - Banana Boat Sunscreen Lip Balm w/ SPF 30! I did a search for this store in the forum, but came up empty-handed, so I apologize if someone has recently mentioned this store!
  11. We were able to get our date and time confirmed almost immediately, but didn't officially hear from the WC about making plans until we were about 3 months out. Now we email back and forth just about everyday. I'm a tad OCD about my wedding, so I have to make sure that everything I want is accounted for.
  12. Yes that's me! It's a small world! We just found out late this week that the package we want is definitely available, so I'm officially a Preston Bailey Bride as our WC put it in her email. In order for her to officially book the package for us, we needed to pay in full (since we're less than 60 days out) and select our location. She sent us 2 pictures - one of a gazebo in the garden on the Manor side, and one of the Reef Terrace Gazebo overlooking the ocean on the Riviera side. We choose the Reef Terrace Gazebo - it looks gorgeous and it should complement the package well! The one thing making me nervous at this point is that my hair and make-up appts at the resort don't start until 11 am and the wedding is at 1 pm. the trial run of my hair took just about an hour, so that would leave 1 hour for make-up, getting dressed and getting to the ceremony site! I guess I'll be flying by the seat of dress - haha!
  13. We were together just over 5 1/2 years before we got engaged, and will be together just over 6 years when we get married. I admit that I was incredibly impatient and antsy - I've known for about 10 years that I was going to marry him!
  14. I'm getting married at SGOR on May 21, 2008. We already have our wedding/reception site picked out - Reef Terrace Gazebo, which overlooks the ocean. A photo of that area would be terrific. We're going with the Preston Bailey Floral Elegance Collection, so any inside info you can get on that would be great as well! I'm so glad to see that there's other SGOR brides here - great way for us to share our specific planning experiences and ideas!
  15. Thanks for the speedy welcome! We're nearing the home stretch!
