  1. Hi ladies, I might get relocated here from Dreams Tulum because of the closing. Just wondering 2 things. Anyone getting married on Nov 8, 08? If so, where are you doing it and what time? Anyone know if you can have your reception indoors at this hotel for about 120 people? Thanks so much, I think knowing this stuff will make me feel better....
  2. Alin & Mako Nov 8, 08 I have around 120 guests booked. Jody's and the other ladies questions cover most of it. My other concerns are: 1- I would like to know the deadline by which if DT is not open, they will switch me to another hotel. 2- May of my guests did not book through my agent and so I need to let them know so they can get moving to switch their reservation or will the hotel automatically switch everyone if I give them a list of names? 3- What are our choices of other hotels? Thank you Tammy, I think I can speak for all the brides coming up in the next few weeks, we are loosing a lot of sleep over this and our lives are turning upside down.
  3. Hi ladies, I too am a Dreams Tulum Bride that might get sent here. I have a couple of questions that I was hoping you could help me with. 1- Anyone getting married Nov 8th? 2- What locations can you get married in for 120 guests at this hotel? 3- Is there anyplace indoors you can have your reception at this hotel for 120 people? Thank you soooo much. I am trying to not freak out since I have 3 weeks to leave, but I just have to know my options or I'm going to go crazy!
  4. I haven't told my guests either, but my aunt from Mexico just called freaking out and asking what I am going to do. So I, the bride, had to calm her down... so the best thing is to not tell anyone or we are going to loose our heads. I felt exhausted after talking to her and reasuring her that it was all going to be ok. I don't recommend it ladies. Good luck to us all!

I get on a plane in 3 weeks and I'm praying I'll know what hotel I'm going to by then!

You're lucky...I have 8 kids coming to my wedding so my options are limited!!! I have a bunch of kids coming to mine too so I guess our only option is Dreams Cancun if they don't re-open. I just want to know where the heck I'm getting married and and what will change. This is really frustrating. I just hope it all works out, whatever happens.
  7. Anna, good luck! Your wedding will be beautiful no matter what because it is what you and your FI hold in your hearts for each other. We wish you the best!!
  8. WOW. I am speachless. I can't even believe it is happening. It hasn't hit me yet... I feel a little zombie like. The one thing that is making me feel better and I wanted to pass this on, is that the beach at the Dreams Cancun is sooooo much prettier than the one at Dreams Tulum. The beach over there is amazing and the spot to get married on the beach over there is absolutely breathtaking. You ladies that are being changed over there should try to look at some pics. It will make you feel a little better. The food should be just as good, and it will be a shorter airport ride. I know loosing the bonfire sucks total ass, just try to keep your mind on the positive changes that will come out of this, as difficult as it may be. The Secrets is also a beautiful hotel, I saw it last time I was down there and has almost the same resturants... Ladies, what matters most is we have our health and we are marrying the guy of our dreams on a beautiful beach. Our weddings will be enjoyable so long as we are with our loved ones no matter where they are. I really hope this helps and that we all make it through this. I especially wish the best for our October brides. Just hang in there and it will work out.
  9. Deposit I asked repeatedly and was always told that I did not need to give them any money until my meeting before the wedding. So, I agree with Sunbride. If you have not been asked for it, don't worry about it. Customs question Those of you who brought stuff for your OOT bags, did customs give you a hard time and want to charge you taxes on it?

For transportation from the airport I was able to find a great deal on a van - $180 both ways for as many as 8 people so that's awasome and I would be glad to share that with anyone that needs that link. My FI and I are renting a Jeep Wrangler there so I was also able to find a great deal on that - $150 for 10 days there and I would be glad to share that link with anyone interested also. It's only 28 days to the wedding and 23 days till we leave so I am quite excited that I think almost all the arrangements are on their final leg I am doing a lot of the transportation for my guests. I would really appreciate the website for the transportation to and from the airport and for the car rental place. I can't believe the date is almost here!!! Thanks!!
  11. Wow, I copied everyones list onto word so I could read them easier and there is 23 pages!! Thank you so much everyone!! I'll post mine when I finish it.
  12. Can't Wait We are hiring the violinist for our ceremony. Is that when you are using them? Would you mind sharing your play list with me for the violinist, I've been trying to come up with one but I suck with music...
  13. Thanks Sunbride, I'll try to do my avatar pic ASAP. Oct, Nov Brides. The sunset on Nov 8 is at 5:08 pm. This is what time the sky is pink and purple and the sun dips behind the horizon. By 5:30, its pretty dark. So here is my schedule 2:00 Pictues individually and with friends and fam 3:45 to actually start at 4:00 Ceremony 4:30 - 5:30 pictures with fam and bridal party (and I feel this is super rushed) 4:30 - 6:00 coctail hour 6:15 open up room in Conf center for reception 7:00 Dinner I'm just worried about running out of sunlight before I take pictures with my hubby..

I arrive on Nov 2 and leave on the 11th, so maybe we can meet at some point. Good luck with the planning!!
  15. MonoAmor I think I took pictures of the other ballrooms. I will look at home and try to send them on Mon. What day are you getting to the resort? I am getting married Nov 8 so we might see each other
  16. can't wait don't worry about the alterations. Just go to a good place with good reputation, even if it is more expensive, peace of mind is very important at this point for us, or we will go crazy!!
  17. They are both amazing! You are in quite a pickle! I think you should wear the Amsale for the ceremony and pictures and then change to the pronovias for the reception. Wear both! You look fantastic in both, so just keep in mind that whatever you decide, you can't go wrong... Good Luck!
  18. cendcar Thanks for the ideas on the Parasols and the web site. I had not even thought about it before but I'm going to be in SF soon so I can buy them there! Thanks! Cendcar, I was wondering the same thing on the make up. Great question. Hope someone can give us details
  19. I would e-mail her again telling her you want to work on your invitations and you need to know if that date is booked for you for sure. Giving her a reason you need an anwer might help. I am almost sure you will be ok, they are just so kick back, but e-mailing her again will help. Don't worry, it will all work out. I know how crazy it feels sometimes... Good Luck!
  20. amyc I was going to put water in my OOT bags too but the hotel actually has a minifridge in each room stocked with beer and water and juice and stuff. So, I decided not to include that, only cookies and snacks and stuff. Car rental I found these two car rental companies on another thread and the ladies were saying they were great. Cancun Rent a Car, Cancun Airport Rent A Car, Rent a Car In Cancun and Cancun Car Rental, Rent a car in Cancun, Playa del Carmen Easy Way Car Rental I have not used them but when I compared them to the American chains (Hertz, Dollar...) they were a lot more reasonable both with prices and insurance costs which is where they usually get you. Good Luck!!
  21. O'h my gosh ccarmany23, Sarao has sooo many things!! They have a cartoonist, I was looling for that for our coktail hour. Thank You so much!!!
