  1. You looked beautiful and the wedding was stunning. I LOVE your tables and the colors. Fantastic! The aisle and decorations for the ceremony were also great. Congratulations!
  2. Angela, You wedding was beautiful! I watched your slideshow and am taking inspiration from you for my upcoming wedding. You thought of everything! Thanks so much for posting all your information... it's a huge help and I'll definitely be stealing a few ideas of yours if you don't mind - congratulations on a beautiful day!
  3. My friend has a pear shaped e ring that she wears with the point facing away from her nails... I guess it's personal preference but it's always bothered me a bit as I think it looks backwards... I think it should be pointed with the point towards the nail.
  4. Congrats! Choosing a location/resort was definitely the hardest part for me! Good luck with the rest of your planning!

So, we will see if that happens. That was yesterday, so if I don't hear back from her by tomorrow afternoon or something, I think I am definitely going to print off all of my past correspondence (a LOT of emails) and make a list of things and call her using a calling card. I just want this to be organized and on track so it is one less thing to worry about. I really appreciate your offer - that is really such a nice thing for you to do. But, I am going to go ahead and get a calling card either way and if I don't hear back tomorrow with all of my answers, I will just make the call. Thanks again for the offer!! No problem! I'll cross my fingers for you that she gets back to you by tomorrow. You must be getting excited!!! Not long now before you leave... and I'm sure once you get into the sun all your worries will melt away. Good luck... I hope you get all your questions answered tomorrow!

DH says he's glad we did it b/c he thinks it calmed me down. THough I'm not sure about that. I can also say that I've never seen anyone who completely changed their mind after a sight visit. SOme go down and look at five resorts. If you have a hard time making a decision that might be best for you, but if you sit down and lay out exactly what you are looking for in a resort b/w the forum and a TA you should be fine without a site visit. Good luck! I'm not doing a site visit exactly b/c of what you mentioned. I personally think it will be more special/exciting for me to go somewhere I've never seen before. I've traveled lots but specifically chose an area/resort I've never been to.... for me it's more fun this way
  7. Becky if you want I can call there on Monday... we have free long distance to the US and Mexico and I'm going through the same issues so I could try to talk to the manager. Another option for you may be phone cards... my FI's family is in Germany and Australia so we make a lot of long distance calls... phone cards are definitely the way to go. So much cheaper! Let me know, though, and I can definitely call them on Monday about my concerns and yours... with emphasis on you seeing as your wedding is just around the corner. Let me know!
  8. Becky! I'm so sorry! I've been getting so frustrated, too! I emailed Paty a week and a half ago with a list of important questions and never heard back. It's been like pulling teeth all along to try and get any information from her even just for the basics. I emailed again this week and obviously nothing... now I know why. I would be freaking out, too, but everything will work out for you. I'm sure once you get there everything can be decided so try and not worry. One suggestion might be to call Bert Muller (sp?) who is the manager of the Royal. My FI spoke to him at the beginning of our planning process regarding kids not being allowed to stay at the resort (hoping he would bend the rules, which was a no go)... apparently he was nice to deal w/... perhaps you can call the resort and ask to speak to him and he can in turn get the WC to start communicating with you. Let me know if there's anything I can do... in the end I know your wedding will be beautiful so try and not worry (easier said than done I know).
  9. You could also look into Vincent, the associate photographer with Matt and Sol. He is not as expensive and they all edit the photos together at the end... I'm using them for my wedding and they've been great to work with so far. I saw a lot of Vincent's work before I decided on him and he is great! PM me if you want any details!
  10. I really like the larger mugs with the handles. I know you wanted the logo to be bigger, but I think they look great and this way people will be more apt to use them after your wedding. My vote is to give the larger ones out at your wedding and perhaps the smaller ones out to the two children attending your wedding.
  11. This isn't really answering your question, but just a suggestion... have you ever tried booking the emergency exit row in coach? My FI is also really tall and we always make sure to call ahead to the airline to request the emergency exit row or we make sure we're one of the first to check in to get those seats (depending on the airline some won't prebook the emergency exit row). Usually there is a lot more leg room w/ the emergency exit row (just be sure to double check that the emergency row reclines... if there are two emergency exit rows one in front of another the first one won't recline for safety). If that's not available I'll usually ask if it's possible to have a row of three to ourselves if it's not a full flight so that he can stretch his legs... I used to be an airline check in agent and flight attendant and usually if you're friendly and sweet they can be quite accomodating Sorry... that didn't really answer your question but just an idea in case it helps
  12. I think both resorts look lovely (and have good reviews) and it depends on where you want to be - Cancun or Playa del Carmen - for your honeymoon. We're getting married at the Royal Playa del Carmen... I love that it's only a block away from the main shopping street, and from all that I've heard/read Playa del Carmen is a cute town w/ great restaurants and shopping... important for me b/c I can't do the beach/pool thing all day (although, of course, Cancun would also have a lot going on!)
  13. Beautiful pictures! I checked it out about half an hour ago and it was really slow... great pictures but I think I would have been too impatient to stay. I just checked and now the speed is perfect... and I stayed the whole way through! Great pictures!
  14. Thanks everyone for the great advice! I just wanted to update you guys on my decision... all the photographers mentioned are extremely talented and I don't think I would have gone wrong with any of them... but in the end I decided to go with Vincent, the associate photographer with Matt and Sol! I'm really happy with my decision and will definitely be posting pics after my wedding! I was able to view a lot of his prior work, and his pictures spoke to my FI and I the most... so artistic and creative, and it sounds like he's wonderful to work with. His prices are also really competitive for the quality of his work, and Matt and Sol have been so great to communicate with. Thanks again for all your advice... another crisis situation diverted thanks to BDW
  15. Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married June 4/08 in Mexico and only just started planning the beginning of January... there are loads of great tips on here and w/in only a few weeks I pretty well have everything booked so don't despair.... good luck with your planning process and congratulations!
  16. Welcome to the forum! My sister was married two years ago in Manuel Antonio. We all stayed at the Villas Nicolas and had a fabulous time! She was married on the beach and the reception was at a nice restaurant. Manuel Antonio is beautiful!
  17. So cute! I think I'm going to have to 'borrow' this idea! Thanks for posting it!
  18. Congratulations Sol and Matt! The wedding was beautiful. I love the colors and you both look so happy and in love!

We are getting married right next door at The Royal Playa del Carmen, the sister resort of yours. I had a hard time as my nephew is coming so I was searching for a place that would allow kids but I also wanted to be close to town. We're going to stay at the Royal and have our wedding there but guests with children (or whoever else wants) will be staying at the Gran Porto Real (and can attend our weddding). Plus we have reciprocal privelages for each resort so it will work out.... I was also searching for a beach that wasn't eroded and the beach there seemed fine. We are getting married in the gazebo at 4 pm (wanted a beach wedding but decided against it for the privacy issues) and having our reception on the beach. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. When is your wedding date in May? We'll be leaving for the Royal on May 28 so we could potentially be there at the same time!
  20. I was thinking the same thing last night... although I've yet to go dress shoppng (and my wedding is in June! Yikes!) but I pulled out a few bridal mags last night to see what my FI thought of dresses... I wanted to see if we had different tastes in wedding dresses b/c I want to wow him that day. After going through a few he said 'I have no doubt you're going to look beautiful in whatever you choose - you're beautiful and will radiate on our wedding and the dress you love will make you radiate even more' - or something like that. lol... so from FI Alex go with what you feel beautiful in and you'll knock his socks off no matter what!
