  1. Depends on your state. I didn't change my name so we didn't have to do anything with the license. If you are changing your name - might want to check with the Social Security bureau on what you need to do.
  2. Thanks for the support. I did print out the law and will tackle this tomorrow. Maybe I don't have to register it as legal in my state since it recognized as legal around the world?
  3. So did anyone have to get married by the Justice of the Peace in the state they reside in? Our County Clerk will not accept our Mexico marriage license even though under Arizona State Law (ARS 25-112) any marriage conducted in another state or country is a valid marriage under state law. Any suggestions? Our wedding coordinator said they should accept it.
  4. hi - well - Jenny and Baja Weddings did a great job - wedding was incredibly beautiful and went off without a hitch thanks to Jenny.
  5. hi - Jenny from Baja Weddings did my wedding and it was perfect..I negotated the price down a little since my guest list dropped but it was worth every penny!
  6. hi all - just got back from my wedding and honeymoon...just wanted to say that Susanne and her team do fabulous work!! I did a trial a few days before and had one of her assistants do my hair and makeup and it was fabulous..
  7. just wanted to update you that Baja Weddings did come back and lower the overall fee to about $2500 so we are all set!
  8. Thanks Cheesediva. I did quote those two rates I saw in the thread: 30 people = $1500 and 75 people = $3800 Just doesn't compute to my why 40 people = $3500 but I will wait to hear what the owner says. FWIW - my WC has been great - not complaining about the service -think they have been very thorough - just questioning what appears to me a pricing discrepancy.
  9. No - no contract at all..I had an estimate from one of the Baja Wedding Coordinators that has since left. Her original estimate was based on 100 - 120 people. Our guest list since then has gone down considerably (more then half) but the fee didn't go down that much.
  10. Congrats - I'm getting married there in 2 weeks - I'll check back in and let you know how it goes!
  11. We have 2 weeks until the wedding so this is their final bill..I'm going to ask for a cost breakdown because this is just their coordination fee - we pay the vendors as well..
  12. I've been working with Baja Weddings to help coordinate my wedding and although the services have been great - the final coordination fee is not. They want to charge me $3500 for a 40 person wedding at the Sheraton. (This is the only even that they are working on). It was more expensive but the owner brought the price down alittle. What has your experience been with wedding coordinators? When I first talked to them a year ago it was no more then $5500 for a 120 person wedding + rehearsal dinner. We aren't doing the rehearsal dinner - they just helped coordinate the vendors and will do day of services. I think this is outrageous - your thoughts?
  13. I'm using BBJ Linens since one of their showroom is pretty close to my house. Thought about using the resort but BBJ has such beautiful stuff and I really like color so I'm packing an extra suitcase. I have girlfriend who will return them for me the day we leave for our honeymoon. If you go to the BBJ website - I'm using three colors for the tables: Saffron Bichon, Fire Bichon and Paprika Gold. ..The fabrics are gorgeous (and I have less flowers since the linens speak for themselves). Plus I've got the napkins as well..
  14. hi Alyssa - I'm getting married in 4 weeks in Cabo and I'm bringing my linens with me. I didn't like the whites so I picked some fabulous colors.
  15. Oh and the 2 guests who did book through the SPG.com website were PREPAID - which means the Sheraton gets their money regardless. The guests cannot go back and rebook since they paid in advance. I'm trying to get the Sheraton to honor that or we can make up the friggin difference between what the guests ALREADY paid and what our rate is. *Rant off*
  16. We did book only 10 rooms and I'm pulling my hair out in frustration. Have asked my WP to step in and try to help. The contract kind of locks you in - to me - butts in the bed are butts in a bed. We get people to stay there and give them business but they aren't negotating.. My FH is thinking about calling the General Manager of the hotel as well.
  17. So I just got an email that Irma is moving to another part of the Sheraton so now I am working with Oscar. And..my friends and family are finding better rates on the SPG.com site instead of through the hotel so I'm trying to get credit for those stays. My fiance is a Starwood Platnium (he's travelled alot with them) so I'm trying to use that as an influence. I think the Sheraton should provide us with the best possible rate - otherwise what is the incentive for people to stay?
  18. Ditto on not getting a timely response from Irma or Berenice (the Sheraton WC) which is why I have Baja Weddings. My guest list at this point is rapidly shrinking as folks are declining the wedding. invited 120 people but think I'll be lucky with 50 people. I'm worried we won't even have the 10 rooms/2 nights at this rate and we have to fork out extra $. We might subsidize people's rooms to entice them to stay at the Sheraton. We signed our contract in March 2007 and were not able to book the restaurant - doing the reception at the Palapa. Not sure if there is another event going on that day or not.
  19. Hi - we are getting married at the Sheraton in 2 months and are having the ceremony and reception there. Here's the language from the contract - you will need 10 rooms for 2 nights each (so 20 nights) or you will be liable for both the rooms and the setup fees. These concessions are only good if you book all 10 rooms for 2 nights. (We are trying to make sure that we get at least 10 rooms. They are $319 a night so alot of people are staying elsewhere in timeshares). -One complimentary national welcome drink coupon per person at check in. -Complimentary Luxury Suite for the bride and groom on the wedding night (no meals included). -One complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for the “new couple†in their room (on the wedding night). -Gift certificate for the bride and groom for one night European Plan, to be used within a year (reservation subject to availability). -Complimentary location or set up fee, no decoration included, provided a reception party is held after the ceremony. - Group rate valid 3 days pre and post the official wedding dates (subject to availability). -Nightly turndown service (newspapers not included). -Special rates at Cabo del Sol Golf Courses. -15% discount at any Spa treatments for contracted rooms only (beauty salon services not included). A minimum room block of 10 rooms for 2 nights each (no cumulative basis) and the wedding reception held in the hotel are required in order to maintain all conditions and concessions mentioned in this contract. Not sure what the set up fee is but I think $3000 sounds about right.
  20. yeah - it really is..My exbf is a flamenco/spanish guitarist so I know good music when I hear it..and david is good!
  21. Re: David Flores I booked him in August for our March 2008 wedding and followed up a few times since then. I found out today from my wedding coordinator (Jenny at Baja Weddings - she rocks!) who contacted him to extend his playing time that he won't be able to do my wedding (or anything in March). He had not contacted me (I booked him directly) and told Jenny that he didn't have an email or a way to contact me to cancel. Glad I have Jenny and a plan B. She is looking for someone else to play. Scary lack of professionalism. Too bad because I really liked the clips on his website. Glad I have 2 months to find someone else. Can't imagine how it would have been the day of the wedding and he didnt' show.

  23. Tried to email David but email can back as undeliverable.
  24. Tammy - Did the Sheraton charge you a corkage fee?
  25. Wow..Great pictures Tammy.. There is another event going on at the Sheraton which is why we can't have the reception at De Cortez. Have the photographer - starting my dress shopping. Recommendations on hair/makeup?
