  1. I can sympathize. I am not sure what i will do yet. My Fi has a french last name, I am not french so I say it with an english accent. We live in Ottawa with is a very billingual city. Once when giving his name at the hospital the nurse felt she needed to correct me. I was so insulted, what if that was my last name can you imagine someone telling you said your own name wrong?? We also have a daughter (20 months old) who has his last name and often when filing things out or signing anything I have to ask "when you say last name do you mean hers or mine?" The usually I get a new form to accomadate the issue. I don't know. I am leaning towards his name as it will be easier with my daughter. My sister kept her last name and a year after she was married, her husband changed his last name to hers for their anniversary. He had no attachment to it, as he didn't know his father. Now my niece and nephew have my last name!
  2. As a Canadian with loonies ($1) and toonies ($2) our change really adds up fast. I have often had $10-$16 in my change purse.
  3. Gorgeous!!!Everything is so incrediable. I would count myself lucky to be half as beautiful as you and your wedding are!
  4. THANKS JULIE!!! Wow, that was awsome information about resorts. I am from Ottawa and would have to go to TO to fly there. One small problem with CR is that I will have guests coming from Edmonton, Sudbury, Montreal, and Ottawa. I know Air Canada will arrange to fly everyone into TO but some of our guests aren't the most seasoned travellers so I would like to make it as easy as possible. There are flights out of Edmonton, but they arrive 3 days before the TO flights. Our plan is to get married in early Jan so I wouldn't have to worry about flights down, but thanks for the heads up I never realized that it would even be a problem. ALthough I still haven't picked which country we are going to get married in yet, Costa Rica is on my short list. Sara
  5. Well I thought I was certain about MR but I would love to go to Costa Rica. What an adventure for my guests. So I haven't made up my mind yet, but if I can find a CR resort that offers a kids program, beach front, and hosts wedding for free or inexpensive I am in. I will keep checking this forum if anyone has any names of resorts.
  6. Having beeen to a few all inclusives I am going to try to include travle mugs in my OOT since they give tiny cups at most resorts and they will fill up a mug and you won't have to keep going back. Sara
  7. We are having a disagreement on this issue. I feel there are people who won't be able to come but would love to celebrate with us. But he says that the important people are coming and that is all he cares about. So far we had agreed to have a backyard celebration - very informal.
  8. Welcome Shawna. I am from Ottawa and we are looking at the Air Canada books as they can fly guest out of pretty well anywhere in Canada or arranage to fly everyone into Toronto then all fly down south. We have the smae budget per guest and are pleased to see we have lots of options. DR is inexpensive. We attended a wedding last year at Breezes in Puerta Plata and paid under $1400CDN with taxes. We are looking at Dreams Tulum in MR and if you book early with AC you can save almsot $1000 per couple. Sara
  9. Welcome!! Great to see all the Canadians on the site. The more I navigate the site the more helpful information I find so I hope you will find it as helpful. Anyone have a great Canadian TA or travelling through a certain book (sunquest...Air Canada...) I'm from Ottawa and am leaning towards Dreams Tulum.
  10. I am also considering this resort beacause of the great sounding kids program it offers. Kids can attend a camp that is seperate from the others area(on the resort though). I have 20 confirmed with at least four children so it is important to me that everyone can have a relaxing time. I am not getting married until winter 2008, but it never hurts to look early. As for the smell, I have heard it is because it is musty in some of the older rooms, it just went through major renovations and the newer reviews of it are better. Hope people can post any information they can on this resort.

    I'm a newbie

Thanks for all the support. I have started researching online about renting villas (one is beautiful and cost per guest per week is about $650 CDN) which isn't tooo bad. I have also looked into booking out of London. You would not believe how cheap AI's are from London. I realize you need to get to London but if the week is only going to cost $400- $600 for the flight (from London), accomindations and food then the flight to Londodn can't be that (from here you can get flights for $500 CDN and up). Does anyone know of anyone who has gone the route of booking the AI out of London?? Sara

    I'm a newbie

Hi evveryone, I have just joined this site to get ideas for my wedding that I am not sure of the date yet (winter 2008??) and I am unsure of the location yet (Europe?? Down South?) So I guess I have lots of research and thinking to do. I would love to get married in Italy, Spain, Greece.... but cost could be a factor for my guests. I estimate that between 20-30 will try and come if they can. So we will see. Hope to get lots of info off this site and hear other peoples experiences, advice and tricks to make it smooth. Thanks for listening (or reading Sara
