would you buy this dress??

Recommended Posts

those of you who saw my slideshow know how dirty it got during the ttd - we went into the pool, the ocean, and ended with a lovely walk down an extremely dirty cobblestone path. in hindsight, i should have done the ocean last, but whatever.

so i just got my dress back from the cleaners. even though i asked them not to, they preserved and boxed the dress. from what i can tell, the whole thing is clean except the very end of the train, which is a beautiful shade of gray. all of the design is embroidered, and the end of the train is embroidered as well, making it much more difficult to clean.

it was made for me - hollow to toe measurement, taken in a bit on the sides...would fit any girl that's a size 0-4, provided they were 5'1"ish or shorter.

so the questions are:

1) would you buy this dress knowing that it was a bit dirty even after it was cleaned?

2) if so, how much should i charge? after fittings, bustle and the slip, the total was $700, but just the dress w/o fittings/bustle/slip came to $500.

3) should i take it out of the box to make sure that's the only place where it's still dirty? i won't be able to get it back in after.

Honestly, I would have to get a great deal on the dress to buy it. I'd say $200 with the slip, possibly the veil if you want to make it a full package.

You might have a hard time finding a petite bride to sell it to. If you decided to do that, try Craig's List or something that doesn't charge you like E-Bay and their listing fee.

Can you call the cleaner and ask what didn't come clean or if they would re-box it for you. I think if you are going to sell it, you need to disclose any flaws. IMHO.

I have to agree. If it was a TTD I would buy it being a bit dirty... but it would have to be for a good price. My goal is to find one under $100 (including shipping) which seems pretty reasonable on ebay (even for new dresses).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
