RIU Negril - Wedding Pictures

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies:

I hope the following link works. As I have mentioned in a couple of my previous post my daughter was married at the RIU Negril on June 5, 2010. We had such a wonderful time. I am hoping my daughter will get a review up that will help RIU Negril brides. I know when I was helping her plan her wedding there were not a lot of reviews nor pictures. I was very greatful for the ladies that did share. You will see some pictures of the resort and the ceromony. She hired an associate of SunGold Photog. He was very nice and since it was a small wedding she paid for the intimate package. Again, please feel free to ask any questions and I will try to answer. The link is from smilebox.com

thank you! Deb, yes it is the fish sanctuary area of the beach. So you do have people on lounge chairs but there is not swimming allowed. You may see jet skies go by or some one walking by but no swimming. I think that is what made it so speacial there was no one swimming and it was semi private. there was one guy that walked by in his speedos while they exchanged the vows but my daughter did not even notice them. If I had to complain about one thing was how they had three weddings on the same day and did not allow for a cushion time in between so my daughter felt rushed by Dionne the wed coordinator. She said she would rate her a C. She was nice but almost like she has done one wedding too many. I can answer any questions you may have as I was glued to my daughter's hip the entire time of planning.

thank you SO much for posting the pictures! It makes me so excited to see pictures from the resort especially since there are so few on this site. They're fantastic and your daughter looked absolutely gorgeous!!!!

My FI and I finally officially booked our trip and confirmed our wedding at the resort for april next year! :)

Question - was there extra costs in having the arch covered in fabric? I just love that look vs. the addition of flowers.

Hi Lua:

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Destination weddings are the way to go so intimate and to me less stressful! Thank you for your kind words. Yes there is an extra cost for the covered arch I believe it was $150. My daughter wanted that vs. the free arch they were going to proved. The coordinator Dionne at first, did not know what we were talking about when she told her she wanted the fabric covered arch then she remembered. I happen to stumble upon this look when looking at a photographer’s site that took pictures at the resort. So I would recommend that you take a picture with you please feel free to use one of my pics and show them that this is what you want. It is a shame they charge so much for a 20 min ceremony but you are at their mercy. Also, they will not allow outside photographers in your room to take pictures while you get ready. So please ask a family or fried to take on that job. Please let me know if there is anything else you need to know. This site helped us so much in my daughters planning that I just want to pay it forward.

The following is a link if you want to look at the pictures from that wedding that I saw the picture of the arch.

You will need to scroll down and you will see pictures from Kristen & David. If you hit next after viewing their pics you will see another couple that got married at the RIU Negril by the name of Tania & Ashton.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
