Travel Agents...GRRRR!

Hi Everyone!

 

I need help! I've been trying to find a travel agent & everytime I THINK I found a great one they disappoint me. I met one great TA, my fiance & I talked with her for about an hour in her office. She got us soo excited. I emailed her a week later to follow-up on any leads & she never replied. Within that week, I emailed her again..no answer. So I went to her office & she said she was working on a few things & emailing her contacts & she'll get back to me. Ok cool! The following I emailed her..no answer. 2 more times..no answer! With that said, I'm done with her. I contacted 2 more agents that heard about online. They replied to me right away. But of course, they also disappeared. What's up with that?

 

Does anyone know any RELIABLE TA's? I live in NY but willing to work with anyone that is recommended.

Have you contacted BDW's travel agents? There is an ad at the top of your screen.

Well I can't exactly recommend my TA. She isn't horrible but I wouldn't say I have had the best experience. Not sure where or when your getting married but I would have preferred to do everything on my own to be honest. I haven't seen the benefit to using a TA. We have traveled a lot in the past and we have NEVER used a TA but FMIL and my mom suggested using a TA so that people could use a payment plan etc... but to me it has been a headache. So where are you planning to get married? When? Are your guests tech savvy and feel comfortable booking their own travel? We didn't get any incentives or extras so I am not a big cheerleader for the use of a TA but I am sure the girls on this site can add to this thread. You'll have a ton of leads in no time!

Try the TA's here! They're super knowledgable and experienced with Destination Weddings, and very helpful when they post in these threads too. Click on the banner above. Go to the travel forum and look for TA Maureen, I think she has a link to information on their agency. I just sent my retainer for TA Jennifer!

While I am not happy to hear that people are having bad experiences with their TA - I am relieved to know its not just me.

 

Mine is BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She didn't get us a good group rate, AND then told us to book right away and call everyone and it's been 2 months and the price on redtag and sunwing have not changed, so I dont know what the rush was!! AND she never replies to our email questions. She is gone every week to another country (her job, I know).

 

BUT the worst part is, she is my FI's groomsman's mom, which is why we worked with her...but when it came to making the deposit for our group, she told my FI she would send him a cheque for the deposit if he puts it on his credit card. 2 MONTHS AGO!! AND WE HAVEN'T HAD IT YET. I know she will pay it, I mean her son is in the wedding,...but she's just so forgetful that it's pissing me off.

all the BDW travel agents are fantastic and have been on site visits to all the best resorts. you can click on the link at the very top of BDW and submit a contact form.

Just an FYI, but part of the forum etiquette rules are to respect Tammy host and the other TA's by not advertising for other TA's.

I can relate. I have just started the process and I am starting to get worried. I have emailed my TA about starting things and she emailed me back right away and then ignored my emails! I then asked her if she was too busy and that I could just find someone else and she said she would put us on her "to do" list and now hasn't gotten back to me.
BUT the worst part is she is my Aunt! I don't want to offend her, but I also kind of warned her going into this that I am an organizer and I like to plan. I also told her she was under no obligation to work for us as just because we are family but she said she would love to.
I really hope it isn't going to be like this for the whole process because if it is I might have to have an uncomfortable conversation with her or it will just make the process stressful!

I'm working with TA Jill and she's awesome. I live in NY too and she's on the east coast. We haven't gotten down to the payments yet but she has been very responsive. Just click that banner up there.
