Okay, I will warn against the white board. It does sound like a great idea... but it also tells people that you are NOT in your room. So I think that just leaves your room more available for bad things to happen. I wouldn't recommend that.

As for meeting up with people, we had walkie-talkies. The tiny ones from Walmart. They worked great. It was so nice because my husband would sleep in every morning and then go for a run on the beach. Where as I was up by 7 and ready to eat breakfast. So it was lovely to just turn on my radio and see if anyone else had theirs on and were eating. Every morning we'd find each other via the radios. It worked out great!

You bring up a very good point... I didn't think about that. How much did your walkie-talkies cost? They worked well? Did each room have one and if so did you provide them?

Hello! My wedding date is on June 9th 2010 at the Tulum site. I'm thinking of having a pool side reception after the ceremony, not sure if that's a good idea yet so I really want some inputs! Do you think it's going to be too hot to stay outside for another hour or 2 after the ceremony? Is the pool side reception actually a good idea? or people just go directly to dinner reception right after the ceremony?

Thanks in advance, I'd really appreciated your help!!!

That's an awesome idea!! How well did the walkie-talkie worked within the resort?

My wedding is just 3 days after yours also at the Tulum location!! I have decided to have the poolside reception/dance. Our ceremony is at 4 and then dinner is at 6:30. Between the 2 I'm just going to direct people to have some drinks at the lobby bar while we finish up with pictures. Our dance doesn't start until 8:00 so I'm hoping it's cooled off a bit by then! Hopefully the sun will be setting and that should cool it off. I agree that keeping people out in the hot sun for hours while dressed up is probably not the best idea! What time of day is your ceremony scheduled? Did you schedule a dinner time/location yet? I think those 2 things will have to factor in on your decision...

Hi swankster77! Thanks for your suggestion, I have to agree it is a better arrangement to plan the poolside reception after the dinner! I'm sure there will be a lot less people at the pool at that time! So are you planning on going to the club/disco after the reception as well?

When do you arrive? My ceremony is at 4pm at the Tulum, maybe you can come take a quick look and have an idea on how your wedding going to look like! popcorn.gif

Hello fellow Bahia brides,

We are getting married at Bahia on July 21, 2010. I just wanted to say that this forum has been SO helpful and I really appreciate all of you sharing your information and experiences with the rest of us! I will be sure to do the same.

For those of you that are wondering about photographers, I emailed Jazmin who then put me in touch with the resort photographer. Her name was Ru, and she advised me that they do not allow outside photographers on the resort. I've looked into bringing our own photographer down there with us, but it seems to be pretty expensive - hopefully the resort photographer is good....

Hi, the time is clicking and my stress level is getting higher and higher.....

I have a relatively small group of 25-29 people only, would that be kind of weird to do a pool side reception after dinner? And does it really worth hiring a DJ for that?

I also have 29 people... I think the poolside reception will be perfect for that amount of people!! We hired DJ Bijan... he's cheaper than the resort DJ so if you want his info let me know.

Lots of summer brides! That makes me excited! I'm so thrilled to see all of your reviews and photos!!! :)

okay, walkie-talkies. They come in packs of 2 at Walmart. I want to say they were $20??

We go on a lot of trips (I'm a destination wedding photographer... after all! :)) So we already had them (8 of them) and we have used them on all of our trips. We handed out the 8 (1 per room) to our parents and bridal party and then we suggested to everyone else that they buy them and bring them.

They work perfect throughout the resort. I just told people to turn them to channel 1 in their welcome letter and it worked perfectly. That way we didn't waste our trip sitting in the lobby waiting for people to arrive at the resort.

My only suggestion is TURN THEM OFF when you are taking a nap or going to bed!!! The only thing worse than an early morning wake up call is a random drunk call at 4 am asking if anyone wants to go to the disco! LOL :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
