  1. These are great ideas! I love the t-shirts! We're going to play an ice breaker game since some of the guests coming won't know anyone else and everyone will be hanging out all weekend. I'm not a huge fan of ice breakers, but I played this one at a work function and it wasn't too terrible. It's a version of bingo, but instead of numbers/letters on each card it's facts about people in your group. For example I'm a teacher, I went to X college. So people have to go around and find people that fit those characteristics and get them to sign the square. The once you get 4 across, diagonal etc (like regular bing) you win. It’s an easy way for someone to start a conversation with someone else they don’t know besides, “so how do you know the bride a groom?†You can make it as hard or as easy as you want. I don’t want to make it too easy as I want the game to last a little while. So some categories only fit a few people. We’re having welcome cocktails the first night everyone is there, so I hope to play the game then. (may be good before the wedding, not during ) Also don’t forget to bring pens for everyone to use since they probably won’t have any on them. Here’s are some example categories so you get the idea to make your own. I was trying to make sure everyone at least fit a few. I haven’t made the cards yet, but I’m going to pull from this list: I am family of groom I am family or bride I have lived in howard county, md (now or previously) I went to UMD I went to PSU I have lived in Bethsda, MD at some point I have worked with bride I went to highschool with brdie I have known groom since he was X age.. I have known bride since she was X age.. I have been on groom’s kickball team I have been outside of the country this year (before Jamaica) or outside the continental U.S I have been to Peru and climbed machu picchu I’m attending with a significant other so I'm just getting to meet everyone (including the bride and groom!) for the first time I also got married this year I work in IT (now or previously) I am a teacher (now or previously) I work with kids (now or previously) I am the Grooms grandma I am the Brides grandma I am one of the Brides siblings I went to school in Virginia I was just in Africa Although I live in DC I met Nate and Amber in Alabama I've been to Mexico, Ireland, Germany and Italy My birthday is in September (Hint: one of them is turning 3 years old) I've been to the Preakness more than 10 times I work in hospital (now or previously) We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary this year I'm a lawyer (now or previously) I worked at Americas Most Wanted I went to high school with the bride and was friends with the groom in college, which is how they met I've seen Dave Mathews Band more than 5 times in concert I met the bride in second grade and we've been friends ever since I lived with the bride during or after college I lived with the groom during or after college I have an X type of dog or a dog named X I work in the building/construction industry (past or present) …just think of cool (or not so cool ) facts about your guests but you get the idea
  2. Hi Krista, I had looked into photos at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course- Aquaduct. Here is the response I got from them back in April: In order to take pictures you can deal directly with me as I set up the date and organize the payment and the transport on the property. The cost for pictures is $250 per hour. This allows for three persons to go around on a four seater golf cart from the clubhouse to the aquaduct. Please let me know if you would like to go ahead and reserve a cart and also a time. Thanks Robert Ames, PGA Director of Golf Cinnamon Hill Golf Course Rose Hall, Jamaica (O) 1.876.953.2984 [email protected]
  3. Don't forget to add your date here too! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/70055/iberostar-rose-hall-and-suites-roll-call/310
  4. Congrats!! How many people did you have and which restaurant did you have the private reception?
  5. Congrats on your wedding!! Thank you for your review, this was so helpful! Sounds like you (and the WCs) were able to roll with the changes! A wedding is a party, not a performance. At the end of the day you married the one you love, so everything went perfect!
  6. Sorry to hear about the weather, but glad the WC's pulled through! Any lessons learned or things you wish you would've brought or done differently? Congrats on your marriage! That's the most important part!
  7. Love your updates, the buckets are cute! Looks like you're all set to have a fabulous trip!! I find organization helps me stress less (since it's something I can control ), so hopefully you're not too stressed either! Yes that would be awesome to meet afterwards!! I can learn more and you can relive the fun! For your laterns from justartifacts.com, I think you mentioned here or on fb they don't have a fuel cell in them? so no fuel instead it's like a candle, I think? The ones I see on their website have fuel cells http://www.justartifacts.net/flskyla.html what's your secret? or maybe I am reading it wrong? -Amber
  8. Hi Courtney! Great planning thread, love the organization!! I realized you’re also in DC! I too am a fellow DC and IRHS bride! I see you mentioned paying the DJ final payment; you’re using DJ Kevan right? Are you just paying him off before the wedding so that’s one less thing to worry about? I think he said pay the final balance day of, but I assume you’re just doing it via paypal? That’s a good idea, so you don’t have to worry about it there. Also your welcome bags, what all did you decide to do for them?
  9. Hi Ladies! I was searching around youtube last night and I came across two weddings that took place at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites on the beach. I found them helpful, so I wanted to share. If the brides (or videographers) are on here thank you so much for posting them to youtube!! This video - http://youtu.be/poqn3LWW10o isn't edited, so the bride doesn't show up until around the 12 min mark but you can see the ceremony space and setup (including drinks), how long the walk is and the music setup. Also the signing documents part and how long that may take. This video - http://youtu.be/pzh56pshBAw has some editing/music over it but again you get a good idea of the ceremony space for those that want it on the beach. I'm guessing their reception was at Aunt Rubys. Hope it helps! Happy planning!
  10. I'm so glad I found this thread, it's so helpful! Thank you ladies! I'm also glad to see I'm not the only that got emotional reading these. The first time I heard the hand ceremony was when Ashley "the bachelorette" and JP got married on TV. Glad to see it in writing, so I can also use it! I love the kids thoughts on love too!
  11. Another option to monitor guest RSVPs we're considering is good old evite. The person who sets it up can see which users have viewed the evite. Also this gives a chance for people attending the wedding to see who else is going. Hopefully that motivates them even more to book if they can coordinate with other friends.
  12. "if you can't, we know you are there in spirit and appreciate your love and support all the same!" That sums it up perfectly! I may have to steal that! Thanks all for the ideas!
