Any suggestions good (cheap) stuff to put in the welcome bag?

Recommended Posts

When I was an OOT guest, my bag (which was given per couple)

was given to me when I checked-in to the hotel.

It was great to have advil, for the next-day hangover or sunburn and snacks (chips/nuts) to hold us over until dinner while we were getting ready. The gum helped out when we ran out of our own stock and too lazy to find some.

Cherielee had a wonderful idea for an OOT favor. She posted pictures in the thread;

OOT Bag Stuffer dated on 01-13-2008

She found pre-made sample travel bags at Wal-mart. As soon as I saw her picture I wanted them. I want down to my Wal-mart and sure enough they had both the male and female travel kits.

Also a lot of other sample kits (Q-Tips, Sun Lotion, Band-aids)

I'm going to take out "their" label and replace with something more appropiate. I also opened them up and added razors, lip gloss, tide to go pens, scope ect...

Hope this helps!
That's a good Idea! I can burn some good Reggae CD's. That way they can pop it in a be reminded of the great time at our wedding! And that's cheap!

My fiance and I are very concerned about the overfishing trends, so we are putting "seafood guides" in the OOT bags (along with all the normal fun stuff). These little pocket guides inform people what kind of fish and seafood are considered "good" to eat, either because they are fished in a sustainable environment or are low in Mercury. It also identifies seafood to avoid, such as Chilean Sea Bass and Pacific Cod. It's a passion of ours, and we thought it was appropriate since people often like to eat seafood in the Caribbean. Best of all, they are available free from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. You can request large quantities of them online.

YES!! Of course you can come to my wedding! My friend who just got married will be honeymooning there during our wedding. Which is really neat. I know they have wind surfing gear there but not sure about the surf scene but I hear the diving is unbelievable!

What else did your coworker say about Qamea? Von and I are really big on small private island type of resorts (Phuket, Thailand is a must) and I am really really big on customer service.

A few suggestions about the OOT bags.. coming from me and my guests:

I don't recommend spending money on things such as razors, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion etc... Unless you give them their bags before they leave. The main reason is that if your guests are leaving home for 4-7 nights, they will pack their own stuff.

Sunscreen is another item... Coming from winter skin (MN), everyone in my group had already brought their own sunscreen. They were appreciative of the aloe though!

Things I do recommend are the sample size advil, tums etc. And, my guests really appreciated their can coolers, umbrellas (I got these last minute because of the forecast and they came in handy the last day- $1.00 at the Dollar Tree), gum, and BANDAIDS! I recommend everyone put bandaids or blister pads in everyone's bags.

EDR is a huge resort, plus there is a dress code. So, everyone was wearing heels and new sandals etc., so everyone had bandaids on their feet by the end of the trip.

A couple of my guests brought their own travel mugs, and EVERYONE wished they had one. This is something I definately would do if I could do it over. Especiallly if you are staying at an AI.

And, then I gave everyone a volleyball sized beach ball which worked great for playing with in the pool- they "float" in the air better than a normal vb, so it made it a little more easier to play.

Some of our guest wished they would have brought underwater cameras since they were at least $20.00 where we were.... so that may be an option.

I guess I just recommend buying things that you know your guests won't be bringing themselves!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
