Really helpful review - thanks! (and i echo that your pics are gorgeous!). Question - did you get the impression that they would have honored your requests had you known, ie setting up an actual bar and actually passing the hor d'oeurves during the cocktail hour? Just curious if it would be a battle...

I think they will do anything you ask them to do, but there may be an additional charge.

I got married at Dreams Tulum in November. We had our cocktail hour in Portofino before it opened for the evening (between 5 & 6pm). They had a bartender there for us & servers wandered around passing out our hors d'oeuvres. This wasn't something that we discussed with Sandra or Landy and we didn't have to pay extra either. I would say that if you are concerned about it, bring it up with Sandra & Landy.

Ask how the bar is set up & if they provide servers for the cocktail hour.

Wonderful Review! I'm sorry your cocktail hour disappointed you. Were there other weddings that day? It seems like DT just don't have enough staff to effectively manage multiple weddings. We were married at the same spot you guys were. Thanks again for the great review.

Great review! Don't know how I missed it before. Thanks for sharing, now for some questions...

Would you have chosen the to have your ceremony in the chapel, now knowing that the sun would make for bad pictures?

I just bought parasols but would that be enough to keep the from squinting?

Was your cake the basic cake or an upgrade? I think it looks great with the ribbon, is that something you brought or did they provide it?

TIA

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
