Thanks Ladies! The more I look at the 3 rings together, the more I love it!  :D

John and I have also decided to stay for 10 nights at Moon Palace, we're arriving 1 day earlier than our guests to arrange and setting everything up for our wedding, and then 2 additional nights after as our mini-moon. :)

I've just been reading some other forums that you ladies have written and I feel like I'm missing a lot of details about the travel of our guests...

We're working with a wedding planning group called 'The Wedding Butlers' here in Vancouver. They specialize in planning weddings as well as arranging travel for their guests.

Here is some of the information that i have from my wedding planner:

- Travel with Air Canada Vacations

- Travel from Toronto approx. $2100, Vancouver $2300

- Free room upgrade

- 12th room free promotion, we receive reimbursement on the 12th room based on double occupancy. We receive this at the end when our guests have completed their final payment. The room price is determined by the supplies upon final payment, so for example...if they value the room at $300/night then we would receive $300 x 7=$2100 for every 12th double occupancy room booked for the whole 7 night stay

- There's no price drop guarantee included within our booking (unfortunately...)

- We weren't required to put down any money in order to secure our room booking; I really liked this because with all the expenses for the wedding, I don't feel like we could spare the extra money just to secure additional rooms for our guests.

Resort Incentives:

- $1500 resort credit per room

- Free private events for groups (can be applied towards cocktail party, dinner reception, welcome party, etc...)

I've read that a lot of you ladies have received more details about the travel like priority boarding, seat reservations, compartment for brides dress, but my planner hasn't mentioned any of these details-- I've sent her an email inquiring about it, but i'm a little worried since she hasn't come to me with that information up front...

Maybe i'm just a worry wart  :(, hahaa. Will keep everyone posted on the details!  :)

I'm so sorry I've missed so much on your board. Your rings look beautiful together and you got such a fpgreat price for them. I also love your legal wedding outfit idea. I'm such a sucker for tulle right now!

As for cancellations and undecided guests, unfortunately it's a common theme among destination brides. I'm going through this now as our final payments are due exactly a week from today. People you think would be there, or even those who have placed deposits all of a sudden cancel, it gets a little disheartening after awhile

I'm with Air Transat and our perks were pretty good. I think @@calgarybride2015 flew with air Canada, she would know the perks

@@jes0912 I booked with Air Canada and apparently my perks are being able to put a deposit down of $150 instead of $300 pp and holding seats for 90 days.  I thought with Air Canada I would get some perks as well.  Not even a closet to put my wedding dress.

If you hear anything back let me know!

@@jes0912 Oh I didn't know there was a difference!  My invoice says Air Canada Vacations.

I asked my TA a couple times about upgrades just to see what she says and no dice.  My fiancé plans to ask for every upgrade possible once we are at the airport and hotel, he's a negotiator and has no shame lol so that's what we're relying on.

I just checked her email again.  Our guests have blocked seats on their flight - I guess so they can all go together?  And Colin and I get advance seat selection on our flight, our seats are already selected, they are the seats with more leg room.  So that's good!  Was hoping for a bit more, not trying to sound greedy lol

Hopefully you have better luck!

@@deecol go for it!! honestly, I've asked the same questions to the resort several times, sometimes to the same people and on a couple of things I have gotten the answer I wanted. It sometimes pays off to be persistent. I also asked my TA about room upgrades and for a while it was only if they had availability upon check in but couldn't confirm in advance. I realized she was telling me that just in case she couldn't get it. It is based on availability but with her certification usually she can get a room upgrade and for months I didn't think we would get it until July when it was confirmed. Keep at it - you never know what kind of perks you'll get!  :D

@@jes0912 We are with Transat, but I think a lot of the perks are similar. We get every 6th (?) room free. But they are very sticky about the double occupancy. We have one single supplement room - doesn't count. Triple occupancy won't count. Even rooms with kids in them (2 adults + 2 kids) won't count. It's ridiculous (esp the last one - are the kids supposed to stay by themselves and pay for a double occupancy room???).

I know a few ladies here have been able to take advantage of a price drop guarantee, but I think it's pretty rare. We have one, but we would have to be able to get the same number of rooms, on the same dates, at the same room level to qualify. With 20 rooms and an almost-sold-out resort, that's never going to happen. Love your resort perks - we didn't get anything like that. We are at NOW Sapphire, so different ownership from the Palace hotels. Hope your TA comes through with your various flight perks, though!

@@vancouverpetunia wow i'm shocked that triple occupancy rooms don't count! and KIDS?! seriously...

Yah i guess they're always going to put terms and conditions on incentives like free rooms. We also considered Now Sapphire at one point as well-- I think you'll be in great hands, I hear that Carlos is amazing, I'm actually kinda sad that I wont be able to work with him. He sounded so great at what he does. Good luck with all your planning!

So I just double checked my emails and our rates do apply for price drop guarantee...however the conditions make it extremely rare for us to be able to benefit from it. The conditions are that there have to be the exact amount of seats available on the flight for however many guests we have (not including the seats we've already booked) So essentially...if we have 40 guests and the price drops by $100...there has to be exactly 40 seats available on the flight in order for us to take the lower quote, which is obviously very highly unlikely.

I flew ACV and I got some great perks. I got every 17'person free in a credit back to us (this number changes as I've seen it as low as every 11 free). I got a free upgrade to first class as the bride and groom and this had HUGE perks in and off itself. My guests had 90

Days to put down their deposits and I believe they where $200 each. But it's been awhile. I listed it all in my planning thread. There may have been more but it's been a year almost.

We did not get a price drop guarantee but the group price was so good that it was always the lowest listed.

We got the 15 rooms / 30 seats but when we went over it they honored the same price.

If you aren't getting any perks you need to call and demand some hehe! And with the first class upgrade it was first come first serve so don't waste time

On that as we barely got a seat.

I wasn't told I could hang my dress but I did once I got on. They don't offer - well my flight attendant didn't - so ask or just do it yourself lol. But ACV does allow the dress as a bonus and not count towards your numbers.

As far as I know if you book a vacation it's always ACV. You can't book a package with AC so I think everyone is the same that way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
