Yycbride2016 Grand Sirenis Planning Thread February 2016

There is no tax either. That's all included in their prices :)

I wouldn't bring any US dollars except for that photographer bill. Tip in peso just ensure it is equivalent to what you'd normally pay in CDN! So if I wanted to tip $10 I'd pay around $100 peso or whatever. The exchange is.

I haven't gotten my spending money for Vegas yet so also crossing my fingers it gets no worse.

Mini update:

More craft time for me. I'm not really that crafty of a person even though everyone keeps saying I am. (I'm a graphic designer with a fine arts degree and people think that makes me crafty. Give me a computer and I am crafty for sure). Anyways I worked on our "message in a bottle "guest book". I found a bottle that unscrews in two places and was plastic. This meant it was light and would be easy to pull out the messages for out guests a year later. I wanted it to look a little more beachy and nautical, so I added on some twine. This took like an hour to do because I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I re-did it like 4 times haha. It's still not perfect but it does the trick!

Next I worked on the lanterns! I'm going to use these lanterns to line the aisle for the ceremony and I will add more seashells and starfish to the inside of them. I will re-use these and put them on the tables for dinner! I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out!

I think next weekend I will work on an attempt to my my fiancé a boutonnière. Figured it's worth an attempt to hand make one before spending like $20 on one online.

Everything looks great, good job!! What type of bout are you envisioning? If you are thinking a regular flower then I wouldn't spend $20 online either lol just use the one from the resort :) it's free and I believe the extra ones are $18 ish. But if you want a starfish or something that's neat -- another bride just did some herself Marina. Will have to look up her exact username.

Thanks! Yes I want to do something a little different than the traditional flower boutonniere. I want to incorporate my starfish theme. Somthing along the lines of these ones. So very simlar to the ones marinah84 did. I'm pretty sure I could make one of these for like $5.

@ Thanks! I'm really excited about the lanterns too! It's funny though. When I tell people that I'm bringing them to mexico, EVERYONE basically looks at me like I'm crazy and asks how I'm going to bring them. They are actually really light and I should be able to stuff clothes and other decorations inside them to make good use of space. I saw some photos yesterday of a couple who did a destination wedding and had absolutely no decorations what so ever, not even a gazebo or arch way for the ceremony. And it really made me glad that I'm taking the time to find decorations and put things together to make our day extra special. I don't think I would have been happy with no decorations.

Exactly! Someone who's on the same page as me haha! Like even the chair sashes. I paid $30 for 50 of them and the resort was going to charge me $70 to rent 25 of them. I was like, nope! I'll buy my own thanks. Plus I can use them for my AHR too and then sell them afterwards. A lot of little things I will even use to decorate the house with. The lanters I can put out on the deck in the summer and some of the vases I'm already using on my dining table with candles in them. I actually feel like DW brides are very smart people who know how to save moeny and be resourceful haha.

@@yycbride2016 i thought of you yesterday when I was at Marshalls. they had their starfish display at the front of the store. SO many awesome options with your theme. i would have an incredibly hard time not buying every single item i saw.

ps. everything looks great! you're on a role. when it comes time for chair sashes i am going to pick your brain.

Oh no! Now I want to go shopping haha. My FI was saying last night that right now we have a do-able about of decorations (in terms of transporting them) but he said come 7 months who knows how much more stuff you'll have hahaha. It's so hard to stop looking. I love starfish and the beachy theme!

Pick away when you're ready! Mine were super easy to make!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
