So....we are in the beginning stages of planning a destination wedding and are finding it hard to find good info. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations that would be incredible. We are planning to have around 60-70 people attend. Has to be kid friendly. We were hoping for something that wasn't too cookie cutter. We are open to the big all inclusives but would love to hear about other experiences as well. We haven't narrowed down a location so Mexico, Dom Republic, Cuba.... Let's hear about them!

I'm getting married at Secrets Maroma Beach (which is adults only)  in the Riviera Maya , Mexico BUT have been to the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo resort twice over the past two years.  We originally wanted to hold our wedding there but they were all booked up for our time frame.   The Iberostar resorts in the Rivera Maya are amazing and family friendly! The cool thing about the properties is that there are 5 hotels in one large area and you can visit, swim, and dine at almost all of them! and they're beautiful!!!!  There is a lazy river, amazing pools-including a wave pool, gorgeous beach, and even a fun water area for the kids.  There is also the Iberostar Paraiso Grand hotel which is an adults only property if you want to escape for a few days after your wedding to be "alone."   I definitely recommend checking the Iberostar out if you're looking for a family friendly resort!  Good luck! http://www.iberostar.com/en/hotels/riviera-maya/iberostar-paraiso-lindo

Congrats on your engagement! I know planning a destination wedding can be really stressful, but you have come to the right place   I was a destination bride 6 years ago and the BDW Forum was like a pot of gold to me -- it's seriously THE BEST!!! 

 

This forum is a valuable source full of info full of recommendations and tips from past and present brides/grooms that will help you tons as you plan your destination celebration.

Ultimately we ended up with Cuba to better fit guest budgets but if that's not an issue I would consider Jamaica.

 

The food is supposed to be phenomenal and the experience amazing! I had a friend who got married there and he was raving about how great it was. If you can find something there within your budget it's sure to be incredible.

Welcome to the forum, have you considered Hacienda Tres Rios? their packages covered large groups and the is a lot to do for kids.   25 min from the airport.

I have booked my destination wedding at The Royal in Playa del Carmen. I chose this hotel because it is adult only and right across the street is their sister hotel, which is kid friendly. I have grandchildren that will be attending and 1 son that will be 16 so I thought these would be good hotel for both. I also chose The Royal because it is right off of 5th avenue and there is so much to see and do on that strip. You literally just walk right outside The Royal to 5th avenue. I have been to there 4 times and each time I have been there I have witnessed them setting up weddings and receptions and they do great work. I have also witnessed a few weddings too. It is not very costly and can be affordabe to all. I have given everyone heads up early, so they can start saving for next year. But I am so excited that I have a site to go to get ideas and post ideas before the big day. Then I can share my experience with everyone and will not be considered as a newbie anymore.
