Newbie 2015 Bride!

I'm new to this as well. I'm getting married June 2016, at Excellence Playa Mujeres. So I have some time, but then again, time has been flying.

I have found this site to be the biggest help so far!

New Bride here!  Well we have been engaged for almost a year, but the wedding planning is still just starting....again.  I originally wanted a destination wedding but after discussing it with my parents (who are paying) it changed to a Chicago wedding, until they realized it would be at least $20,000 with a miserable daughter/bride planning it all! So back to the drawing board.

Unfortunately I think I lost all my excitement for the wedding.  I am having a hard time keeping track of different resorts and pricing and am getting depressed by the thought of my wedding, which, of course makes me sadder! AH!

We want to have it on the beach.  Mexico-Mayan Riviera (would like to see ruins) or Hawaii.  About 20-30 people.  Beautiful?  Easiest?  Affordable?  Am I crazy? I need some help.  I would like the wedding ceremony/reception/my parents flights/ my parents hotel stay all for under $10,000.  Is that possible????

Any responses would be appreciated.  We haven't set a date, waiting to find the resort!

Hi I feel your pain! I've been engaged for 6 months and I planned a small (12 person) wedding at home (North Carolina) and then my mother found out about the guest list and became very upset. So, I switched things around for her and quickly found I was stressed out and my sweet, small beach wedding I have always wanted wasn't so small nor on the beach. So I changed it again! Now, I'm looking at Excellence Playa Mujeres. I haven't personally been to this resort but know friends who have. I wont get to visit the resort until we get there for the wedding, which is stressful, but I'm sure it will all work out.

What helped me was to think about what I really wanted and go from there. It's your day, you should be happy! I figured out most of the details and then told my mother... She isn't very happy that I'm getting married in Mexico, but then again I'm paying for it and it's not about her.

Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
