Hello Mkg51615,

Congratulation on you nuptial , we are wedding coordinator in the Riviera Maya, and it would be our pleasure to assist you in coordination your wedding.  What i know is that some time the karisma hotel may charge a fee when you bring in an outside coordinator.  I advice you to double check with the hotel if the is a fee for this.

you can email us any time weddingsinplayadelcrmen@@gmail.com

I was going to recommend Joyce but I see she chimed in already. If you get the green light from your resort, I would definitely get in touch with her and see if she can help you out. I've already started working with her, and as soon as I get medical ok to go ahead with our plans, I'm going to get her help to book our vow renewal for next year.

She has already made great suggestions and had ideas for what I want and I'm really happy so far.

Good luck!

I THINK why some go this route is that many brides want a beautiful wedding day, but don't want to deal with all the hassles of creating that vision. Putting together the little details can be not only time consuming- but overwhelming for some... And many find the WC process leading up to the wedding a bit daunting since you often have to know what to ask and what you want, since the WC really don't suggest a lot.

For me, I'm waaaayyyy to type A/detail orientated and I love being a part of every little decision and part of the planning process. I think adding one more person in the middle would make me lose my mind- so I chose a TA that specializes in DW and can help me with certain aspects, while leaving the real wedding detail to me (which I love).

It's whatever works best for each individual bride.

What aspects is your TA helping you with outside your travel packages and maybe excursions?  Just curious if I am maybe missing some things myself :)  thanks!

Mine is a GI certified rep who has affiliation with my specific resort (and many others in the area- GI is only the certification for my specific resort company)... So she is negotiating free events at the resort, created my save the dates, helped vett my DW website, is coordinating my pre-travel mailers and programs, suggesting reputable vendors and providing guidance on timing and activities I should arrange for my party.

Our agency is also a GI certified as well as being Diamond level 5 (Karisma's top award).  We offer concierge  like services ie. arranging transfers, private transfers, we know wedding vendor very well (i have a bunch reviewd on bw!), assist when the wedding department is not responding fast enough, negotiate group and wedding amenities, assist in any travel related material.

The other thing for me is that because we're going to be such a small group, and it's a renewal rather than our wedding, I've decided to go off site. I know what I want, and if we were a group of 25 or more, then I would go with a resort plan but they don't seem to do really well with very small groups in terms of still having private functions. It just seems that as soon as you go below a certain number, you have to go semi private instead. I also don't want beach for a ceremony. I have no desire at all for sand between my toes so I want something a little different that still keeps us near the water but without gawkers. Joyce has been super with suggestions and ideas.

And I completely agree with @@kmk2016 that for some people the planning part of it is just too time consuming for them and they want someone to handle the "little details" for them which a resort coordinator can't do since you still have to communicate with them. An outside coordinator will take it all and basically do it for you when you tell them what you want.

I've said it before and will say it again. Your TA will become your new BFF, and when you look at what an agency like Wright can do for you, who wouldn't want a new BFF like @ !!  Sorry - I figure a little sucking up can't hurt......

But seriously, when you think about all the questions your guests might have, and the perks you might miss out on by not having a travel agent working for you and on your behalf, getting one just makes the most sense. It will take the stress away and they know things that I guarantee you don't!! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
