Hello! Thanks for starting this forum. Playacar is at the top of my list, and was communicating back and forth a lot with them, but now they have stopped returning calls and emails. I'm looking into 2016, April. Im worried my guest are going to have to pay a lot for rooms, does anyone know if they gave you a discounted rate for your guest with a room block? I have about 75-85 guests.

I agree with earlier comments, hard to get up to date info, and im REALLY confused on if food is included with the reception prices they list our with the venue selections. anyone have an update on this?

@@mcrose03 we had the same trouble - and after a few extra emails and phone calls it turned out our contact no longer worked for the hotel! We went to visit and saw a few of the palace resorts and fell in love with Playacar palace. We wanted a smaller resort and easy access to 5th avenue.

The major downfall of the hotel is little privacy for a wedding. We choose to go offsite and are having the wedding at Blue Venado beach club (about 10 minutes away.)

We also did not do a room block because they didn't give us a group discount - only upgrades for the wedding couple. This plus the 4-night minimum placed some restrictions on our guests, plus with pricing changing all the time we wanted to give as many options to our guests.

We are still staying at the resort as are some family but we have other friends and family staying in all sorts of hotels. I can say the service is great and it truly has great aspects especially for a great vacation with close family and friends!

Let me know what questions you have - PM or post here - we pretty much have asked every single question possible with this hotel group (and others!)

Hello,

I am planning my destination wedding for Feb. 1st, 2017. I have spent many hours researching resorts in Mexico, and I really like Playacar Palace. My only concern is our group may be around 100 people. Probably 30-45 guest rooms. The wedding coordinator I am talking to from Palace Resorts says they can "handle" a group of this size and will let me block 35 guest rooms, with the option to block more (if available, once we block the first 28 rooms). Do you think this resort is too small for a wedding group of my size? Is anyone else planning a wedding here with around 100 guest? Thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
