Cant Wait For The Big Day,

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have recently got engaged, and just starting to get to grips with this site, I am lucky enough to actually live in cancun, so It wont be as much of a nightmare for me as I guess for alot of 'real' destination bride, however as i'm sure you are all aware the web content for alot of mexican places especially the smaller non chain venues etc is sometimes non-existent so even though I live here I find this site so helpful! I am already so excited that In a year from now I will be a MRS or Senora to be precise, H2B is Mexican. I need suggestions for venues, hiring a luxury chauffer car from the church to the venue, and also If people think its absolutely necessary to get a wedding planner, I actually really enjoy the planning, so I might go without, especially since I live here, in return for everyones help I can help with local knowledge etc, I am also going to try and view alottttttt of possible venues so ill upload lots of images for people to see, I am a professional wedding photographer so choosing my photographers is going to be a task allllll of its own, I have already looked at over 30companies..... oh well thats me.

get in touch if you have any hints or if you need an inside scoop on somewhere,

also I am available for local cake tasting  :P  haha

Congrats and please do share any info you find on local venues. I'm also looking for a venue or boat to have my reception at/on in Cancun.

Congrats and welcome to the site! I would highly recommend spending some time reading through the site. The resort review and vendor review sections, even though you live in Mexico, will give you some insite on what other brides have experienced, Everyone is more than willing to share information, so there will be no shortage of that!

Good luck and happy planning!!

Congrats Bliss2be !!! wow - what an awesome advantage to live in Cancun and be able to do site visits, etc as needed - great job :) as well as knowing the "inside scoop" on wedding photography - you're sure to have the Most Amazingly Special Day Ever !

Wishing you happy research, and that it all turns out as you envision - or Even Better!!!

are you going to include a cenote TTD? those have such a "romantically fantasy" kind of feel - as seen here :)

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
    • Thanks! I had it printed out. Very useful!!
