I can't believe things got rolling so quickly! We've been confirmed for our reception at the Sky Deck and now just waiting confirmation for its availability for the reception. We've picked our menu, decorations and our invitations are being printed right now. It's crazy how quick things go! :D. I'm even surprised that our wedding coordinator answered us within a day. She seems pretty awesome.  Smooth sailing over here so far!

We also hired Octavio Montes for our photos and videos. I would really recommend for you guys to check him out! After searching around for the prices of photographers in the area we finally came across him through another bride on this forum. We are on a pretty tight budget and after hearing about the $800 outside vendor fee we thought we were stuck with the resort photographer because we wouldn't be able to afford anything else. When I went into Octavio's website I was surprised by the quality of his pictures and videos. They were up to par with some of the more expensive photographers we had looked into but his prices were extremely fair. The best part is that since he offers both pictures and video you only pay the outside vendor fee once! We were super happy that we didn't have to sacrifice the video! His response is always quick and he seems to really take pride in his work. I can't wait to work with him and I hope you really consider him as your photographer too :). PM me if you would like more details, or of course, visit his website www.octaviomontes.com and check out his work.

So brides, I think I made a decision to attend the rehearsal in September. I think it would help put my mind at ease and maybe I would not stress so much!

that's awesome! I'm glad you can do it. We're hoping to go as well if we have money :)

Hi Ladies, so thrilled to come across this group. I paid deposit about 7 weeks ago and requested the date August 8th 2015. We decided on the beach wedding ceremony as the whole idea of a destination wedding to us had to include the beach! Especially since we are all travelling from England. We initially where going to go with the beach reception but now I've seen the pic of the sky area ^^ further up the thread I totally want this!! Don't know how it works with you guys but we have to pay £729 for the always and forever and then £1760 for the memorable moments plus £150 for each table at the reception the around £23.00pp for food and 4 hours international open bar. We have about 35 guests so if I opted for the sky deck reception is that $15.00 extra pperson? Also what are you guys paying for video and photography if you don't mind me asking? anyone looked at the company Blue lens caribe? I've been quoted $4000 which seems a bit ridiculous, but there work Is amazing!

@@Vickiw89 congrats! We're getting married only a few days after you on Aug 13 :). I'm not sure what the conversion is to pounds, but they are charging us $1700 USD to have our reception at the terrace plus $950 or so to have the wedding package. I know the $950 gets discounted after you have a certain amount of people booked in your group and the wedding package becomes free. I think that is only for a north american market so you might have to pay them :(. This is just for the ceremony.

As for the reception itself, yes, you pay the price of the food on a per person basis and then add $15 pp for the terrace. For example, we chose the petit gourmet, which is $22 pp and then because we want to have the terrace we need to add $15 pp to that. So our reception becomes $37 per person including food and 4 hrs of open bar.

We hired Octavio Montes for our photos and video so we only have to pay the $800 outside vendor fee once. I'll send you a PM with his prices but they are also on his website.

@@TinkerSofi aw will probs bump into you then as we don't leave until the 18th :) is the Petit Gourmet menu buffet style or served to you? I was looking at that menu and the family style dinner ($39pp) I haven't been assigned a wedding coordinator as of yet so have about a million questions lol. Have you opted for a DJ? What do they do for a dance floor area up there? Thanks for the PM I'm going to check it out now!

Oh and the $1700 is that for the memorable moments package or is that just an additional charge to have the reception up there?x

@@Vickiw89 oh that's great! We are going to be there from the 9th until the 16th :)

The petit gourmet is a buffet style as well. It has a few less options than the family style or the BBQ buffet but it's cheaper and since we have to pay the $15 per person on top of that we decided to go with that one.

We didn't hire a DJ. We're just renting the amplifier and bringing an ipod so I can't speak as to the dancefloor. I imagine you can probably rent one if the DJ doesn't have one but since the terrace has ceramic tiles I don't think it would be a problem to make a dance area rather than having a dancefloor. Perhaps some other girls here would be able to answer that one better.

The $1700 is only for the terrace ceremony. So if you have the ceremony in the garden or anywhere else you don't pay it. The $900 -ish  is for the memorable moments package. Therefore, you would be paying the $1700 + $900 for your ceremony if you want to have it in the terrace.

Let me know if you have more questions! I'm still pretty new at all of this as well but I'll try to answer anything I know.

@@TinkerSofi how much is the amplifier?

The 4 hours international bar that's included with the food;do you (or any of you ladies) know if there is an option to extend? Don't want to feel rushed! I would just like it to flow naturally as apposed to checking the clock all the time! I want to party! Haha x

@@Vickiw89 we are paying $250 for the amplifier for 4 hours. It has a microphone too.  For the reception, the amplifier is included in the memorable moments package.

I read somewhere that reception at the terrace can only go until 11 :(. I can't remember if I read it in something that my wedding coordinator sent me or on this forum. I'm right there with you and wish they would allow you to party until 2am haha. For me that's the biggest compromise in terms of having a destination wedding.

Hello everyone, I'm so glad I found this forum.  I plan to get married in late January and see that everyone seems to be so well organized for a wedding way into 2015.

Does anyone know anything about the dinner at Flavors that is complimentary?  I'm trying to figure out if I should have a private banquet or just go to Flavors and spend the money elsewhere.

Is the Sea Pier gazebo available?

How would I plan a beach party after the dinner?

Thank you in advance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
