Riviera Maya

Hi all! I am new to the forum, and am just starting to plan my destination wedding. I have been doing research on the Riviera Maya. I am currently feeling very overwhelmed, and was wondering if anyone has used any good yet affordable resorts.  I was also wondering if people who have plans to get married in the riviera maya have an estimate on what it will cost their guests.  We are thinking of next January, but some people have told me it would be too cold.  We are still open to other destinations.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I am going to meet with a travel agent next week.  Thanks!!

Hi Cwright!!!

I'm new to the forum as well... And just got engaged... Started realizing all the work we have to do towards "the big day"...

First of all, I see your concern regarding weather, I wouldn't worry so much about it, since Mayan Riviera area is usually warm all year around, just so you know, I'm mexican, so I know what I'm talking about.

I've been doing some research, and according to my math, should be around 25,000 USD including attires, flight, hotel and wedding ceremony and reception, that considering +-/ 60 guests. We haven't picked a Resort yet, but after surfing on the internet, I would suggest you to look into: Dreams Riviera Cancun, Palace Resorts, Paradisus, Real Resorts, Now Resorts and Barceló Mayan Palace... They all have pros and cons, it all depends on what  you want and how much your guests can spend to come to your wedding.

Hope this clarifies some of your questions.

Good luck planning!

We chose Dreams Riviera Cancun, and it will cost about 3,000 per couple for a week.  It's the most expensive of the Dreams, but has the most to offer from what I've seen.

Hi I am a new bride too.... Just got engaged in october and I am also looking to have a wedding in Riviera Maya. We were looking into Paradisus and Hard Rock but after the reviews from Trip Advisor I dont know how I feel about Hard Rock with all their construction issues.. I am also hoping since we arent having a wedding till 2016 things will be figured out. My FI and I loved our time at Hard Rock in DR and was thinking the HR in Mexico would be just as exciting. 20-25k sounds about right with 60 guests at a really nice resort. Im really hoping we can do the wedding for about 15k so we end up at 20 max with everything (dress, stay, flights, etc).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
