  1. @@sjw015 did you just pay a set price for the boat or a per person price? Do you think it would be too much to do the boat for an afternoon excursion the day before the wedding? Also, did you have a dinner with your group the night before the wedding? We paid per person for the party boat. I think it would be too much to do the night before the wedding as there was a lotttt of alcohol involved. It was a big party. I know there are dinner cruises you could do but I am not sure how much those are? Also we booked a dinner at capers the night before which was really nice and easy! We did this two days before. They let us book or for 34 people and we were at two large tables. Obviously not private but it worked out really great!!
  2. Hi Ladies! I recently got married at Now Larimar on May 21st with 35 guests. I wanted to write a review on here since this site was soooo much help for me. Yeomandry was my wedding coordinator, and she was very sweet. She did everything how I asked, and was so patient! I got my hair and make up down by Krystie Ann, who was absolutely amazing. She was so professional, did incredible work, and I loved my hair and make up. It stayed perfectly the whole night! Some of my bridesmaids got their hair and make up done at the spa which turned out absolutely stunning! I did my hair and make up trial through the spa as Krystie Ann was not available, and I loved it. The woman was sooooo sweet, and absolutely amazing at her job. She did exactly what I showed her in the picture. I think you are golden whether you use a private hair and make up artist or the spa. We were all very happy. We had our ceremony at the fountain at 4, which was very nice. We had a symbolic ceremony by my husband's uncle. It felt very private. I really liked the setting. We had the guitarist who was great, and everything was very smooth and organized. We brought an ipod with a few songs we wanted on it. The flowers also came out beautiful. They did a great job on the bouquets and corsages. We brought our own programs, but did not do any extra decorations. They placed the programs all nicely on the chairs for us. I do not think you need a lot decorations there. The setting is very pretty. We did not do the wooden walkway, and I think it was still great. The only negative was that the fountain flooded (which was the ONLY time I saw it do that). Luckily, it flooded after the ceremony. It just limited our pictures a bit in front of the fountain. For cocktail hour we had spring rolls, chicken taquitos, sushi, and mozzarella canape. Everyone loved the cocktail hour food (especially the spring rolls). We had our reception at Castaways. I absolutely loved Castaways, but was a disappointed as there was a wedding on the beach right by castaways. I only really noticed it during dinner however as we could hear their music. There was a party on the beach that night which may have pushed our weddings closer together. But, when our music started we could not hear theirs any longer. We brought shells down for the centerpieces, and rented tall vases. We had them fill the vases half with shells, and then used their pink and orange stargazers as the flowers in the centerpieces. We also brought a Mr & Mrs sign for the sweetheart table, our own cake topper, table number holders/brought starfish with the seating assignments on them, two large signs for decoration, table runners, luggage tag favors, champagne flutes, and a cake cutter. Everything was set up perfectly. The centerpieces were just how I asked them to be. Dinner was good. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was excellent, the cream of mushroom soup was ok (I did not care for it, but most of my guests did), the sangria was excellent, steak/lobster was good, and cheesecake was great. However, people were getting up to dance right after the cheesecake was served. The waiters removed the cheesecake before it was eaten while people were dancing. The cake was delicious. We had vanilla cake with chocolate filling. However, again, the waiters removed the cake before a lot of people tasted it since they were dancing. The waiters and bartenders were sooooo friendly though. The service was excellent (just a little too quick at times haha)!! The waiters even got on the dance floor at the end of the night which was sooo fun! All of our guests loved them. We had the resort DJ, and I thought he was awesome. We had given him a general list of songs, and he did a great job. The MC was adorable. She was a bit quieter than I thought she would be, but she was great at getting everyone up to dance. We also had the fire dancers. They had chairs set up on the side of castaways for us to watch the fire dancers. The dancers were incredible! I was just slightly disappointed as random resort guests stopped to watch. This was completely understandable, as they probably did not realize it was a private show. However, they were seated in the seats that were set up for us. Our wedding coordinator did not ask them to move. We ended up sitting on the wood deck in front of the chairs that were set up. Again, not a big deal, but something for future brides to be aware of. We brought a friend down with us who does photography to do our pictures. We did get the included wedding ceremony pictures which came out very nice, but it does cost extra to get the cd of pictures. What is included in the package is just the printed out pictures. We also used the resort videography, which came out nice. We got a 20% off deal which you guys should look for. We paid under $800 for a full day from getting ready all the way through the reception with a video trailer as well. Julio was so great to work with. He was sooo sweet and professional, he was just swamped with weddings. You can tell he truly cares about his job. I have seen some brides ask about excursions on here. We did a few excursions. We actually booked a private party boat for the day after our wedding which was absolutely amazing! It was our favorite thing! I booked it through Wilfrid from seapro. He speaks great English. We emailed back and forth a few months before the wedding. I had met him when we did a site visit previously. I would highly recommend him. We booked two excursions with him. He was fabulous! If you would like some information his email is Wilfridstamour2005@yahoo.fr. If you do not want to book an excursion before, don't worry! There are a ton of vendors booking excursions there. I do not think you get a better price for booking early, we had just wanted to reserve a private party boat, so we figured we should book early. I was also very nervous about my wedding dress on the airplane. Everyone was very nice. The flight attendants waited until everyone was seated and then put it in one of the empty overhead bins. So don't stress! Everyone wants to help a bride. My dress was silk, and wrinkled easily. It was incredibly wrinkled by the time we got to the resort! The resort did an amazing job at steaming it. So don't worry if it gets wrinkled on the trip. They will fix it! Finally, our travel agency was Wright Travel Agency. They did an amazing job. Patty and Kristin responded to emails almost immediately, were soooo nice and patient, and all of our guests loved them as much as we did. I could not have imagined planning this without them. They were truly amazing, and two of the nicest people! I hope this helps! Please feel free to ask me any questions. Overall, there were a few minor things, but we had a wonderful wedding!!!!!
  3. Hey guys! Any experiences about carrying your dress on the plane? I am getting nervous about this!
  4. @jnvoigt Thank you so much for sharing! You had the cutest ideas!! Looks like you had an amazing wedding! Its so funny you said that about the dress, because I just posted on here about flying with your dress!! I have one- question? How did you do with the heat? Were your guests very hot sitting in the sun during the ceremony. How was the reception outdoors? Thank you so much! Christine
  5. Thank you soo much for your response! I love your idea to bring a framed menu- what a great keepsake too! Good to know they have individual menus too! Thanks for adding the pictures! I will take a look. I so appreciate all of your advice and responses. I am nervous as I just want everyone to have a great time, and have gotten some push back about having a destination wedding. You have made me feel more at ease.
  6. Hi @kosrae89! Your pictures are stunning!! How long in advance did you give music choices to the DJ? Also, what did your menus look like? Were you happy with them? Congratulations on your beautiful wedding! Christine
  7. Hi Ladies! Hope you all are doing well. I am getting married in May 2015, and recently did a site visit on December 15th. The resort was beautiful, and Yeomandry was awesome! However, I have some kind of a GI bug now. My fiance has no symptoms at all, but I have all the symptoms of traveler's diarrhea. Has anyone else gotten sick? I am not sure if it was something I ate or drank, or a GI bug I have picked up back home. Thanks so much! Christine
  8. @@RebeLight Hope this helps! I think it looks really nice! Hi Jamie, Sorry I have not been on here in a while either! I think I am going to stick with corals and oranges. My mother in law wants to help with the decorations. I did think of doing purples and teals for a little bit. Purple does sound beautiful!! Do you have any pictures you could send me of what you are thinking? Thanks so much! Christine
  9. @JahaneeConner Congratulations on your wedding! My concern was it being a little humid also. But, jumping in the pool makes a very fun and memorable wedding! Would you have chosen a different reception location, or still done the pool? Did you go in to Castaways while you were there? Was it much cooler than the pool even though it is open? Thanks soooo much! Congrats again!
  10. Hey Guys! I have a quick question! I emailed my wedding coordinator to ask if the 25 chairs with white covers that are included in are package are also included in the reception. She responded "Yes, 25 chairs included for the ceremony, the extra chairs are $25.00 each one. For the reception, you don't need to pay for extra chairs. They are included." Is it seriously 25 dollars extra per chair just to have your guests watch your ceremony?!? I did not see anything about this in the package or excel sheet. I am hoping she misunderstood my question! Thanks so much!
  11. Hi @@KAT2015! I also cannot justify paying $1500 to walk across the platform. I saw a few youtube videos with brides walking beside the fountain so that is what I am going to do!! Castaways is expensive but we have a friend that is coming that will do our photography so we will save there! I am not a very crafty person so I am still thinking about decorations- yours sound beautiful though!!
  12. We are staying from the 16th to the 24th, but may alter the dates a little as we have not booked our plane tickets yet! I have not done much with decorations yet. I was thinking corals and oranges. We are getting married at the fountain then having our reception at castaways.
  13. @@JYINGLI1 I am getting married on May 21st of 2015, and I am very interested in sharing decorations!
  14. @@KAT2015 - I am sorry for the late reply! I have not been on this site for a while! My date is May 21st of 2015.
