This DIY bride needs venue recommendations for Spring 2014 cabo wedding!

Hola Arroyo,

I did my research too between the Mona Lisa, Cabo del Sol, & Hacienda Cocina!  We fell in love with the Mona Lisa!

The Mona Lisa has by far the best view in town, and is our minimum consumption for the outside terrace was only $1500, I have the menu options and pricing i can send them to you if you want.

As for the Hacienda Cocina it is a great place but, its on the tourist beach and we don't want venders walking by in our wedding pictures. Plus you have no view of the arch there... I have the menu options and pricing for them too!

Cabo del Sol is beautiful but $$$ and there is no view of the sunset because Cabo del Sol is on the Sea of Cortez side....

If you're doing the Mona Lisa you will need to hire a wedding coordinator for the day.  I went with Christina at Cabo Beach Weddings!  She has been sooo helpful, and she is very reasonably priced in comparison to others....

Good luck!

Hi Ladies,

I was tryign to find a cheaper, but still fabulous, way to have a destination wedding in Cabo and I found this forum. Thank you so much for all this information. I just emailed Hacienda y Cantina and Sunset de Mona Lisa to get more information.

After deciding to have a destination wedding and getting so excited about it, I hit the ground running with research and found that most of the resorts, although had great package prices, the group rates for our guests were crazy expensive... it didn't even feel like a discount! And most resorts didn't really offer a "reception" and you had to pay seperate for food! So now I am turning towards looking for a beach front restaurant or venue at, hopefully, an affordable price, and my guests can search on expedia, groupon, etc. for their hotels... what do you gals think of this idea? We are on a thight budget and so are our guests but a destination wedding seemed like such a great way to still have something awesome and spend less than having it in the states.

Anyway, I am planning on a late February 2015 wedding but that date is flexible depending on rates. Any advice you ladies can give me on where to research, any vendors you recommend for rentals, etc if I decide to go with Hacienda or Mona Lisa, some transportation services and of course a great day of coordinator at a reasonable price would be soooo much appreciated!

We are expecting about 45-60max guests.

Thanks everyone!

Best Regards,

Rubi

Everyone has been so helpful.  I started out wanting to get married in my hometown and changed due to cost considerations.  I am hopin to have between 30-45 guests.  What is the approximate cost at Hacienda and Mona Lisa, and what does it not include?  Just looking for a ballpark.

Thanks ladies!!

@@norris12 Hacienda is absolutely gorgeous!! it was my first choice, however, they are SO expensive now compared to 2014 brides and before. They raised their prices and for 40 people just bare minimum, BEFORE you bring in all outside vendors, it's about $9000+. They don't supply anything (chairs, tables, etc) so you have to rent them all, and that's another added cost.

Mona Lisa - I only got the bare minimum with them, but they were still on the higher scale as well.

I ended up with Casa Dorada. I have about 40 as well and we didn't want to stay at the resort we were getting married at, as we wanted to stay on the marina. They don't require you to stay there and their WC Leoan is awesome!!! She is a huge reason I chose there! :)

Hey! I am trying to plan a July 2015 wedding. I thought I had everything in line and was planning on having the wedding/reception at the Riu. However, we are expecting a lot more guests than we originally thought. As of now we have 70 guests with up to 30 more coming. I have been looking into the Sunset da Mona Lisa as the Riu cannot accommodate that many guests. I have been reading posts about consumption fees and was wondering if anyone had any further information or can give me a  better idea on how much a wedding there for 70-100 people would cost. We would plan to do the regular hours (5-10) and do the wedding, cocktail hour, and reception to follow. I did hear back from the restaurant who gave me meal options and price per person but that was it. Any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

@jenna32schap  I would love any information that you receive.  I am just starting to plan an April 2016 wedding and I was looking at the Riu as well.  We were thinking we'll probably have about 75 guests.  Which Riu were you looking into.  I wanted to do that Palace, but fear most people will stay off site and I will be stuck paying much extra for people to be on the resort the day of the wedding.  The Sunset da Mona Lisa looks gorgeous, so I'm thinking it may be something to look into!

I think you should also look into Casa Dorada!! It is absolutely gorgeous, and I have only heard and read great things about people having their wedding there! :) I am getting married there next June, and am so excited. The on site WC is awesome and she will help you with everything to where you dont need to have a WC if you didnt want to spend the extra money!

Also - They are very accommodating, and you dont need to stay there if you wanted to stay at a different hotel! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
