HELP! Riviera Maya Destination Wedding.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm having the most difficult time deciding on a resort for our destination wedding. It's extremely overwhelming! Does anyone have any recommendations or horror stories (so I know where to stay away from?) I'd like to keep the cost for our guests are $1300 per person (or less) for 7 days.

I appreciate any help you can give!

Thank you,

Alyssa

Congrats on your upcoming dw in our incomparable Mayan Riviera, Alyssa !!! and welcome to posting on the forum :)

Depending on what's on your wish list for what the resort needs to include, the Barcelo Maya Resorts could be a viable option.

They have 5 seperate Barcelo resorts on their property - each with it's own price point and unique qualities.

They also offer a family friendly environment, as well as adults-only pool areas for those who prefer quieter pool-time.

Here are some magical wedding "moments that matter" Linc caught there at one of his weddings at the Barcelo Azul Beach.......with more at the album link here.......

Wishing you all the best with your planning decisions, (big exhale)  knowing whichever resort you choose, it will make a Gorgeous backdrop to your wedding celebration !!! You'll have the Most Amazing Wedding Ever - you'll see :)

Hi Alyssa,

Im still a newbie myself but Ive booked at a resort.  One thing I would have liked to know about is knowing what the policy for outside vendors at the resort is.  I didn't know anything about that so when I booked and started planning I found out the outside vendor fee at the resort I booked was $800 per vendor.  I am still booking an outside photographer but the fee adds a little stress on the wallet if you know what I mean.  So I would just look into that when booking.

Get a travel agent to help you! Wendy Hicks at Wright Travel is great! One of the important things to me was being able to talk to a wedding coordinator early on. Some resorts (Palace for example) make you wait until 90 days before. Real Resorts lets you talk to someone ASAP and they always respond to me within a day or two maximum. I cant imagine how I would have planned this wedding if I had to wait that long to talk to anyone or if the coodinator took her sweet time answering me. It's stressful enough!

Alyssa,

welcome to the Forum and be S T R O N G! Destination wedding is ... a destination, so you learn about it going on. I love resorts with a touch of ecological and relaxing and Sandos Eco Resort is a good choice without killing the bank account. Call Fernanda the planner or send me a message if you like the place. I love AI weddings but i prefer non AI weddings, so why not have the rehearsal (Free) dinner at resort and then experience an off resort wedding? if not all your guests stay at resort it will be cheaper. In any case: my advice to you is look at all websites you lie and send all emails for info: asking for hidden fees as vendors fees and extras. Anything u need or any advice, I am here. I have been living in Playa for 17 years and planning for 13 so shout if in need!

Maria
