Wedding Coordinator/Resort Questions

Beginning to discuss details with a resort and wedding coordinator. Any suggestions on the types of questions to ask in order to work out all the details?

I'm still in the same stage as you .. Actually havent even talked to the wedding  coordinator yet but I have my resort booked. I am going through travel agents so they said they will be in touch with the wedding coordinator to book my ceremony date, time, etc, but I know there will be things I will have to discuss with her too! I see our ceremony dates are around the same time (mine's Jan 2014).. still seems so far away hey?

I'd say the first thing you need to do is find out what is included in your wedding package (flowers, dinner, cake,etc). Then ask for a price list for extras ie. bridesmaid bouquets, extra cake (most pkgs are for very small weddings), if they have somewhere for a private reception or if you'll be with other resort guests for dinner, if they have somewhere separate for dancing, cost of DJ or sound system with IPod hookup, and photography/video costs. From there it's questions like... Do they have any decorations (chair sashes etc) in your color scheme? Table decor for reception? Basically the little details of how you picture your day. I'd be interested in feed back from others if I missed anything... I've got just under 3 months to go... Getting excited and stressed that I'm missing some other important questions!

I agree with previous post. Get as many details as you can. I jot down questions as I think about the big day to make sure i dont forget anything and then email my WC a long list.

Hello ladies!

 

I like to recommend grouping your questions into "events" so to keep everything consistent and orderly for your coordinator (ie. ceremony, cocktail party, reception, and other which covers things like spa appointments and photography).

 

Another way to make sure you aren't overlooking any details is to start pulling together your wedding day itinerary.  Once you see how the day will flow, it may help you realize what you're missing (ex: how do I get from my room to the ceremony site?  Who is in control of my iPod for the ceremony music?, etc...)

 

Finally, always ask your onsite wedding coordinator if they have a "Wedding Form" or "Wedding Spreadsheet" that they use or have their brides fill out.  Having this form from the beginning of the planning process, rather than receiving it a month before the wedding can help ensure you're keeping track of all your details!
