Rayn- I'm so jealous! I wanted to do St. Lucia, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it work financially,  :( Your wedding is going to be beautiful---with that backdrop, how could it not be???  I can't wait to see your plans!

Congrats Rayn, I also wanted to have a St Lucia wedding but now that everyone is having kids I had to be more budget and family friendly in my choices. Absolutely in St. Lucia you will have a wonderful wedding. I'm already planning ahead, if I can't have my wedding there, I'll celebrate my 1 year anniversary there! Lol

First Off, Hiiiiiii and Congratulations to the new brides on the forum!!!!!!!!!!!!! :welcome: So I just wanted to update you girls on what I'm doing. I have sent out the invitations on Sunday and people are completely blown away from them. I have a family member of my FI's side who just received their invitation today all the way in California who already booked her trip!:woot: I am so happy about the response but now I'm a little worried I excited them too much! LOL OAN, I've gone into a planning frenzy and started buying raffia fans, seashells, candles, etc. Brownsugar, WHy didn't they mention their fee before? That sucks. I hope your WC can work something out with them so you can have your dream wedding.

That must be an awesome feeling to begin having people book their trips and rave about the invitations. Congratulations!!!

The catamaran we did went past all of the resorts and they looked beautiful.  Since I've never stayed at a resort I'm definitely not an expert but I did get to see a lot.

The picture thing cracks me up, one of the first times I went to Caribbean there was a guy with a monkey and he asked if I wanted to pet it, so I said sure, then he asked if I wanted him to take a picture I said yes again. Then he told me it would be $20.  I figured he probably needed the money more than me but my lesson learned what don't take pictures or let anyone take a picture of you. It's crazy!

What resort are you getting married at?  I'm sure you mentioned it but this board has been so active I can't keep up!

That is funny - I am glad to know this ahead of time as I will definatly pass this info on to all my guest!!!

I haven't booked anything yet - should be doing so in the next couple of days.  Not sure why at this point I would change my mind - sooo assuming all goes well it will be at Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort!!

Just to make things worse, today I decided to call my travel agent to talk to her about the resort and the rooms so that I can get my invitations made and guess what? It looks like I HAVE NO travel agent! No wonder I sent an email 3 weeks ago and NEVER got an answer. I am beyond angry. Apple Vacation didn't bother to inform me, or get me a new travel agent or anything!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called and I got a machine. They are going to get a piece of my mind because that is bad customer service!! I should have been informed that the TA quit or left or anything and got replaced ASAP. This is something I am not suppose to be stressing about. I am not a happy camper.

Eww - that super sucks!!  I hope you are able to get everything worked out : (

I think that is a great compromise to have your anniversary there!!

I don't think any of us can go wrong as all the islands are probably amazing and will allow for amazing weddings!!

I know it is far away but I will defiantly post some reviews of the resort and the island after I return    : )

Sandals resorts are so nice, you would have a amazing and beautiful wedding there! I had to choose a family friendly resort so all Sandals were out.

My sister has 2 kids under 4 and her in-laws have health issues so the only baby sitters they can leave the kids with overnight will all be in Mexico at my wedding.  She told me I could pick an adults only resort and she'd come alone but I'd really like my brother in law there and her kids are very well behaved, they're the only ones coming though because I'm not really a fan of kids at weddings.

My grandfather passed away in November while I was prego and I ended up giving my son his name as a middle name. My grandfather raised me so I always said if he could i would have him walk me down the aisle. Well, I don't know why it dawned on me last night. His birthday is July 9th, a Wednesday, in between 4th of joy and my moms bday. (I'm getting to my point soon I promise) so I text 2 of my cousins today who are like my sisters and asked them for travel purposes if that would work for them. My one cuz text back you tell me when you want me there. It's your day. My other cuz who is the one who talked me into a destination wedding in the first place texts me, actually August would work better for me bc I usually work summer school.
Now I knew this but I chose joy bc I figured it would be a summer month hence easier for those with children and when I first threw out the idea of July MONTHS ago (been engaged since September) she said she would be there. I still have to book the resort which I was planning on doing this weekend but now I am SO torn!!!! My cuz has children and I feel bad bc I'm already asking everyone to spend a lot to come to my wedding. Should I now consider August to make it easier on her or should I be annoyed that it's MY special day? Ugh, why did I even ask to begin with?!

I think that is a great way of honoring your grandfather by having your wedding on his birthday since he can't be there physically.  You should keep your date and she should understand she does have enough time to come up with a few days off.

Thanks so much for your advice! I spoke with my cuz and all is well. :)

Great!!! So which day are you going with the Wednesday?

We've been courteous in giving AMPLE notice. The rest is up to them.

I totally agree.. I admit in the beginning I felt bad since it was away and there were MANY complaints but now I feel as you do...

Oh that is good to hear positive things about Sandals!  I'm excited : )

Did you look into Beaches?  I have never been to a Sandals or Beaches but I would assume that Beaches are just as nice.  I actually was looking at Turks and Cacos - but then I realized it was a Beaches there and I wanted an adults only location.

Either way - Cancun I'm sure is going to be awesome!  I wouldn't understand anyone having a bad time!

I wanted a Sandals resort as well.  We had to choose beaches instead due to the children being allowed.  St. Lucia was my first choice and then Turks & Cacaos my 2nd.  I have never been to St. Lucia just seems so amazing! that's a must on my list supposed to go back to turks for 1 yr anniversary but maybe I can get a trip there in between. (already planning a wedding anniversary before the wedding ha ha ha)

No I have not been to Beaches/Sandals before have you?

I decided fairy quickly that I wanted to have my wedding at a Sandals - although I have never been to one.  I really like the ease of the website, you can see all the options and it really seems like there are no hidden charges.  All inclusive is a must and they seem to really include so much.
I actually was looked at Turks at first... I have always wanted to go there.  I changed my mind about having my wedding there because it is a Beaches.

All you girls are so nice picking places that are family friendly to accommodate your guest!!  I have a few couples with kids.  I really wasn't sure what kind of response I was going to get when  I told them Adults Only.  I am very lucky that I got a very positive response from all the parents!  They actually all Thanked me for "making" them go on an awesome vacation without their kids.
