NO GUEST HAVE BOOKED!!!!

Recommended Posts

My wedding is April 13, 2013. I sent out the details well over two months ago. As of today only one guest has booked out of 40. I think the cost has scared everyone off. My fiance and I are now thinking about just us and the kids having a simple destination wedding. Any suggestions on resorts who have smaller wedding packages???? I have to start all over again. My wedding is booked as of now for Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay.

The only thing I can suggest is waiting and maybe talking to some of the guests to figure out when they are going to book. It's still pretty early for a lot people to be booking. Not including my immediate family and wedding party, my first guests didn't book until 3 months before the wedding and the last person booked just two weeks before the wedding date.

I'm sure they will book :) Some people just don't plan that far ahead.

Did you give them a deadline to book? If not, that's probably why no one has booked yet. Or if it's still a couple of months out, they will wait until the last couple of days.

I agree with talking to people and finding out what they are thinking - if they are just waiting to book, or if they won't be able to go due to the cost before you change all of your plans.

I'm getting married in March 23, 2013 and my guests have not booked either. The ones that are coming have confirmed and RSVP and I have talked to most of them (the ones I expect to really come) and they are just waiting for the right time to book. And I have a reserved block of rooms in the hotel for which I paid a deposit (which will be put towards the cost of the wedding at the end, so no loss!), so the fee of the hotel rooms won't change until February 2013.

I suggest you ask your guests if they plan to come and advice them on booking early, but some people just don't feel the urgency as we do :)

We thought giving people 90 days to put a deposit down was a great idea and would be helpful to people and almost everyone waited until the last three weeks to do it, we even had people putting their deposits down in the last 3 hours of the last day! Our wedding is Nov 2012 and we are thinking more people will book, I think many of our potential guests are just hoping prices will go down and/or they will book last minute!

It can be tough to bring it up with guests because I felt that people kind of lied to us just to appease us and make us happy and then when the deadline passed they messaged us saying "you might have noticed we didn't book but....." I left it with guests saying that they could feel free to book anyway they wanted up until the wedding and to just rsvp if they decided to come.

you have almost a year left before your date I think maybe you should give guests more time.  I agree with the ladies a lot of guests are probably just waiting for whatever reasons.  would hate for you starting all over again and you have already picked your location.  unless of course you want to change t hen if that's the case you should

You still have tonnes of time before you need to do something drastic like changing your complete wedding! Hang in there! Not a lot of people will book a holiday so many months away. We sent out invitations out 6-7 months in advance of the wedding, thinking that would be a better time frame, and even now (4-5 months away from the wedding and 2 months from the RSVP date) people that have said they will book still haven't!

Try not to stress and give people more time! Like the brides that have had their weddings have said, some people leave things to the last minute!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
