How far would you go to find your wedding dress?

Recommended Posts

I bought my Dress in Prince Edward Island, which is pretty much across the country, and $850 flight from where I live, and I regret it!  I could have gotten the same dress here, at home, but since I bought it the shop went under, and now I'm stressed and still waiting for my dress that was supposed to arrive a month ago.  Plus if there's a problem with it when I do get it, I'm screwed, because I'm not going back to PEI to get it fixed from a shop that no longer exists.    We were there visiting family who lives there, so I didn't make a special trip for it, but I did find a dress that I loved and I thought, "what could go wrong" so I bought it!

I wish I had bought it closer to home, and then I could use the seamstress that the shop recommends and if they screw up they guarantee their work.  As it is, I have to find a seamstress, and she wont be guaranteeing her work..sooo I don't know how I feel about it.

I had a client who bought her dress from Kleinfelds, and she felt the service was rude and rushed, and they put alot of pressure on her to buy.  She also recieved the dress and it was too small!!  They ordered the wrong size or something, so she had to lose a bunch of weight, which is not a good stress to put on a bride a few months before the wedding!

Anyways, I don't want to be negative, I'm sure if you go in prepared to walk away in case you don't find something there, you'll be fine.  But I'de suggest going with an open mind that the one you already loved might be "the one" just in case!!  You don't want to buy there just because it's kleinfelds.  And Do some research because if you find one at Kleinfelds and you can buy it somewhere closer to home, I'de suggest you do that!  (though I doubt Kleinfelds would go under, it's still easier to deal with issue's in person).

Good Luck!!!

After a week I finally found a sample, but unfortunately it was 3.5 hours away. I literally jumped in my car and drove straight there (Augusta). Iâ€m glad I did because it wasnâ€t what I thought I was looking for. However, since I was so close to Atlanta, I decided to stay the night. On the way leaving for home, I ended up checking out this cute little bridal boutique: Winnie Couture. I fell instantly in love with two dresses.  I acutally almost cried...and I'm not a crier..lol To make a long story short…sometimes that extra drive will save you tears of regret and bring you loads of smiles.  Don't limit yourself!  You're going for the wedding you want, now get the dress you want!  Wish you all the best~

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
