@ angelnjewels we didn't do the group rate in the end.... My family all got better deals booking air and hotel together! We are getting married in July and most people booked back in January average price was $1500 per person air and hotel for 7 days 6 nights from newark nj direct flights! And that is in the reserve! Honestly it is worth it to do a package especially since u are paying for your parents! My sister her husband and two kids paid 3200 for 5 nights air and hotel in the main resort for 5 days for nights total for everyone.

Wow!!! What a great price. Not bad at all. Do you suggest waiting to book flights and hotels until a few months before the event? My wedding is in April of 2014 and I have been looking now and it is soooo expensive.

I had a good debrief with them yesterday and I understand what the mishaps were a result of. Just over communicate and don't sweat the small things and you will have an amazing day. I'm a PR manager and events are part of my job so my expectation levels are off the chart.

Now that everyone is gone, we are having a blast on our honeymoon. We upgraded to an oceanfront room in Royal Service and it is spectacular. The private pool and beach areas have become our sanctuary. Francisco at the beach will get you the beds and Gloria the bartender was awesome.

If anyone is planning to use a car service for trips outside the resort, book through Romance. Yessica got us a great deal $150 for 4 hours and he took us wherever we wanted. His name was Cesar and he was amazing. He carried my shoes and bottles of water throughout Altos de Chavon in the sweltering heat.

Best of luck and let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thanks for the Info Rotha!! I appreciate your honesty...I know we all do...

How did you get the ocean front room in royal service? Thats what my fiance and i want but are not sure if the Romance office will upgrade us to that.

Just wondering...

Hi Kel,

Thank you for your info. Wow I cant believe your price...Good Job!!! Since we decided to get married during high season everything is super expensive. I looked online this week for rooms at PPR during March of 2014 and its at 600 or more a night its ridiculous. We were able to get them for 232 so now i am feeling a bit better. Just waiting for Jetblue to release their flights which i think will be next month at some time.  I really hope!!! I have to start booking for my parents and figure out what we are going to do.

Not sure that we will have an at home reception now because i think its just going to be an added expense. I am still sure...

Is that 232 per person? I am still searching for prices too. Not sure when I want to book. Maybe I will check pricing after summer is over.

Hi Bridetobe2014, Yes it's per person per night minimum 3 nights. This was the price given to me by my travel agent for March of next year. The romance team give me 246 pp per night but our travel agent got a bit cheaper... The prices for summer I think may be 180 and up depending on who you book with.

Your pictures are amazing, congrats on a beautiful wedding! I'm getting married in November at the gazebo too and I'm a little concerned about the bride's entrance from the side, how did you find that? Are all of the guests able to see you and were there a lot of people walking by or any other distractions?
I was worried abt the bridge as well but it turned out to be totally fine. Everyone could see us and it actually made for some really pretty pictures (our guests even snapped some great shots). The romance team was great abt making sure no one was in the vicinity of the wedding. When I was waiting to walk down the aisle I saw Natalia redirecting people that were checking in and going to their rooms around the area of the wedding so nothing was disrupted. Here are some pics... 400 400 400 400 400

It was so hard to leave! Although we had a rocky start, they definitely made it up to us. They surprised us with a truly romantic evening. Dinner at Passions (by far our best meal at the resort - if you're the foodie type) with wine selection by sommelier with each course and there were a ton. When we got back to our room, everything was covered in rose petals and they had a bottle of champagne chilling with chocolate covered strawberries and a rose filled bubble bath. We knew they were going to do something special for us, but it definitely exceeded our expectations. This shows me the resort does care, you just need to make sure you over communicate everything for them to get it. Not sure if I mentioned it but Royal Service is worth it, especially if you are staying during your honeymoon. We barely used the exclusive areas when our guests were there and noticed a big difference after they left and started using the Royal Service areas. No pics from my photographer yet :( Apparently 2-3 weeks for sneak pics and 6 for the finished product. That's what I get for using a perfectionist :)

@ll117 Thanks so much for sharing your pics are awesome and u look beautiful! I have a question.... Do we have to do our program ourselves? Readings etc?..the ceremony wording? I never asked and am now wondering? Thanks so much! Kelly
Thank you!! :) We had my husbands brother choose his own reading but the ceremony wording was provided by the resort. I guess if you want a specific wording, you could give it to your wedding coordinator and they will use it. We brought our own sand and containers for the unity sand. We didn't do programs but I think other brides have brought the programs with them. I opted to do itineraries that included wedding ceremony/cocktail party/reception times & locations and menus for the reception. Natalia, our wedding coordinator was there each step of the way leading everyone and communicating what was next and where to all of our guests (including when we had to move the reception location for the last 40 minutes because of rain). Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
