2013 Paradisus Palma Real

Recommended Posts

So we just had the most amazing experience with Catamaran Teresa. If you can swing it, I highly encourage this excursion with your wedding party. Fernando and his crew were absolutely amazing and definitely made this one of the memorable trips all our friends and family ever had. PM me if you want Fernando's contact information. I promise, it was totally worth it seeing all the smiles and joy in everyone's eyes. The big day is tomorrow so time for my beauty sleep :D. I promise to post pictures as soon as I get them from my photographer. Trust me when I say that we all made the right decision to get married here, it is truly paradise.

What kind of excursion? I was thinking about a group excursion for my guests too. It would be fun to have everyone together.

We did a sunset cruise/snorkeling excursion with our group the day after the wedding. It was really fun and it was nice to all spend time together doing an activity. We didn't pay for everyone... we told everyone about it and those who wanted to do it reserved online. We ended up with about 70-70% of our wedding guests paying to go and we had a wonderful time!

2 weeks until we leave and 17 days until the wedding...OMG. I'm so excited, stressed, and nervous. I've spent the last 2 days crying. I'm having difficulty at work, possibly being demoted and my fiance was laid off a few weeks ago (Luckily he found a job within a week) but that in conjunction with the wedding and coordinating my school's prom/graduation/yearbook and bridal shower/bachelorette has made for a really stressful month of June.

My mom called me asking about tablecloth colors for my bridal shower and I was like "who gives a *&%$". I didn't mean to be nasty lol but I really could care less about the tablecloth colors and the cupcake stands she is pissed off at my MOH for not finding. I was yelling "$%^& the cupcakes!!!!!!!!" over and over on the phone until I realized how stupid I sounded. I'm having a good laugh as I type this. Sheesh- I always make fun of bridezillas and am like "why is she crying over stupid things" and now I know- it's not necessarily the little thing that makes you cry, its just the straw the breaks the camels back after you've had loads of other stressful things- like managing your budget.

This marriage better work because I never want to plan another wedding again. They are gorgeous to look at but behind all that pretty there is a whole lot of ugly...lol

ev.... I am so sorry you are going thru all this....  Hope you are feeling a little better !  In the end your wedding will be amazing.... and worth all your planning.... I have had my weeks in tears as well.... and kinda wishing we eloped but glad we didn't in the end!

Had my details all finalized today!  Bianca in the Romance Department has been wonderful!  I definitely was starting to stress but got things in perspective and I know everything is going to be amazing!  She has been wonderul thru this process!  Just can't wait to get on that plane.... get to the resort and spend an amazing week with all my family that made such an effort to come!  It means so much to us and we are super excited to show them Punta Cana and the Paradisus Palma Real...especially the Reserve.  Just hoping my sister and her family are able to travel!  She is 5 months pregnant and been having some issues, they ended up putting her out of work til after she delivers!  And really looking forward to my parents enjoying this trip with us and their brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews!  Memories that will last a lifetime!   My family has had a lot of ups and downs this year and I can't wait to take this trip with them!  Kinda part of the reason we wanted a destination wedding....we knew how special it would be for those who would be able to come!  I do feel bad that everyone can't be there but we are following our dreams!

Ev I give you a lot of credit having an AHR.... that was never even an option with us.... family kept asking but we just said we are having our reception In DR and we are paying for it ( I think people assume it is free, because it is an all inclusive )  it may not cost as much as a wedding in NJ but it is what we are doing and my mom and dad totally backed us up!  the whole wedding process is truly stressful whether you are doing it in the states or destination.... everyone has something to say but in the end it is between you and your fiance and those immediate family members who you are closest too

Can't wait to see more pics....as all our June brides get back!  Thanks for sharing and Congrats!! xxoo

Hi Ladies,

Just graduated with my masters degree, resigned from my job and am starting a new job in a few weeks... its crazy right now.BangHead.gif

So i am going through another dilemma. Gosh when does it all end!! I have 9 months to go...oh boy!

Anyway i am trying to book for my parents who first say they want to stay and visit family, now say they don't, and then their minds will change again. I am a bit upset because prior to booking our stay we want to book theirs. I really want to help them out because they don't have the means to travel and i decided to do this for them since they have never taken a vacation in 35 years being together.  confused.gif

I thought it would be nice for them to enjoy their stay. BUT NOW....I feel that i cannot move forward. We are getting married during high season so it is going to cost us 232 a night pp for deluxe garden view...you can only imagine how much everything else is...

I continue to hear complaints of how expensive it is and questions as to why we did not book during the summer... WELL if i could switch my day i would now...its crazy this is a huge mess and I too wish that i would have eloped. I would have gotten married in Cancun at LE BLANC spa resort...and that would be it... i honestly am tired of the BS.

Another issue is the bridal shower...that's another story... I feel like these are things that i cannot control but if it is this bad now i cant even think of how much worse it gets....wtf.gif

Anyway... I did book pastor York for our wedding and i am excited about him so that is a plus...other than that i have not done much cuz my passport invites have been an argument with my fiance he thinks its a waste... so i dont know...

over all I cant wait to see pictures and read all of the reviews. I am sure it will be lovely in the end its just the stuff in between that really SUCKS!

I really love this thread and am happy to be part of it...

I'm on the fence about the passport invitations. We spent $300 on ours for 50 invites. They are absolutely gorgeous, unique, and they really set the tone for the wedding, but there are many cheaper alternatives and if you can cut corners, invitations may be a good place because people kind of dismiss them and toss them aside. However, you aren't going to save a significant amount- maybe just $50-$100 so it really depends on whether you are that strapped or not.

I wanted to book my mothers room for her but we just couldn't slice it with our budget. What's the issue with the bridal shower? We managed to find an inexpensive venue but of course, my mother managed to somehow make it expensive for herself with decor and gifts and games etc. LOL

We booked a group air and then two people on it decided to stay in DR longer and put is in a predicament, luckily our travel agent did all the wheeling and dealing for us and got them off without penalty to us.

I say have a clear conversation with your parents and be frank- we want to book your trip so we can book ours but I need to know what your plan will be. Are you staying to visit family or are you just there for festivities. It would help if your fiance is there too so this way everyone is on the same page and if they change their mind you can remind them of the choice they made. Maybe even sit with them when you book it kind of like "are you sure, I'm going to book it right now" and do it on the spot.

Good luck with everything! It's hard not to let people take away your joy but try not to. It's your moment!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
