2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

Thank you for the update on Elsa! Mind sharing how you got her budge? I think I'm going to have a problem. I'm trying to have something shipped within Mexico to the hotel 1 week prior to the wedding and I got the run around answer of no. It seems silly to have this shipped to NY only to go back to Mexico.

Sorry I took so long to reply. I was busy dress shopping! But yes it is close. Not walking distance but if u get a chance when u leave airport just ask taxi or whom ever to point it out on the way to hotel. Cancun people love to help, that's why I love it there. I live in Houston. Lol Mall will be on right before u get to the GCR. The cheapest way to get there FYI is when u walk out GCR cross street to nearest bus stop that has busses going that direction. It will cost u like .50in pesos! Ride it down a couple of stops u can even tell driver luxury mall. When it stop across street from mall get out and cross street yourself. The bus runs up & down hotel zone. Rather than ride it to end back @ we always get off & RUN across street. Hope this helps.

Hahaha...I guess there's no traffic lights if you have to RUN across the streets.  That was my laugh for the day.  ;-)

LOL! True...I don't know if you have ever been but it is just one long main road and it is crazy to me how fast they drive. The buses swerving in and out of traffic with these little taxis going by & people on scooters. We always rent a car because we are very adventurous and like to take off on our own excursions to the cenotes. He drives not me!!!

Emily11386, I'm not much of a DIY bride so after searching through numerous sites, I got mine done by Concepts & Technology. They're a company in the Philippines so I communicated with them through email (they speak english) and could not have been any more happier with my invitations. The quality of the invitation feels like actual passports, not like paper or even cardstock and they were about $3ea invite, which included everything you see in the picture I attached. Here is a link to their page with more examples of their work- http://conceptstechnology.multiply.com/?&show_interstitial=1&u=

Babigirl21, I'm working on our OOT/Welcome bags right now. They include net drawstring backpacks as beach bags, survival kit w. 1st aid kit and meds and ear plugs and crest mini tooth brushes and electrolyte packets, playing cards, mini inflatable beach ball, hotel key/tip card holder with a mexican spanish translation guide. Not sure if I should fill it with anything else. I originally planned on filling it with more things that I find once I'm there but now I'm not so sure if I'll want to do so when the time comes. hah

I found that she was really good at getting back to me at the beginning and then we hit a few bumps on the road where I was doing negotiations and she wouldn't budge. I finally got things my way. And as for paying for friends who will be doing your photography, I would argue on that one especially if they are staying with you for the week. If they are staying for a few days then I can understand that, but my friend who is doing photography is staying the whole week and I thought it was ridiculous to pay an outside vendor fee when they are a Real guest. I don't care about the discount they give you on that vendor fee. I ain't paying it when he's my guest!! That's stupid and I made sure they didn't charge me for that. I am printing a copy of that agreement we made in writing and will have it there if they give me any problems with that.

Honestly, I make a big stink about things because some of the things they charge you for are outrageous. Stand your ground and if it means so much to you, don't take No for an answer ladies!

I actually spoke with Elsa on the phone and she answered all questions I had and I told her to please send it again to me in writing. If you really need an answer and she doesn't get back to youin a couple of days, maybe it's worth a shot to call her up. She seems nice on the phone. I'm sure she gets busy during this time of the year coz there's more weddings. I have to stop and think to give her a break when that happens. But if I don't hear back in a week, I get on her over the phone.

Hope that helps. Can't wait to hear all about your weddings for those January brides. I'm getting more and more excited!

After reading thru a LOT of these post I noticed Brides referring to the same names at the GCR. However I still haven't found any one mentioning Patty? She is the person who gave us the tour when we where there back in September and emails. She has told me it is all reserved and I paid deposit but have not gotten a contract?? Should I be concerned its July5, 2013! Also I deal with a guy named Ramiro to do the room blocking and room rates?? confused.gif undecided.gif

Nina, Patty initially began the process with us when we inquired about the date, venue choices and things like that. After that was confirmed we received a contract through Elsa and have been working with her since.

As far as the room blocks go, we did that through the travel agent we're using, so I'm not sure who the contact at the hotel is..sorry!

Hi Ladies!

Is there any Canadian brides that got married at the chapel at GCR? If so, was it considered legal here in Canada? I was told by GCR that the catholic wedding is not recognized by their government and only by the roman catholics, but to find out if a catholic ceremony in Mexico would be legal here in Canada.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
