How to get 2013 rates for Jamaica resorts (Grand Palladium in particular)? Newbie needs help!

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are looking to get married in Jamaica in April 2013 at the Grand Palladium.  However, GP will not give us the 2013 rates for rooms and if it is too expensive for our guests to come we don't want our wedding there.  What do we do? Did anyone else have issues like this and how did you resolve it?   I am tempted to put the deposit down for the wedding, but then if the prices of the rooms double we are not doing it there and just lost our $300.   I would really like to give our guests a year advanced notice, but the hotel said the prices will not be available until June/July.  Does anyone know if the hotel rates for GP tend to go up each year??

Help!

The rates don't tend to go up that much. They won't double, and if they do that's CRAZY! We had a similar problem and used the current rates to give guests an idea of what it would be. But yes the resorts wait to release their rates for the next year so they can see how well they're doing and if they can up the cost. Our wedding is in a week and our rates didn't come out until last June so it was less than a year.

What my fiance and I are doing right now is talking to travel agents. They are able to give us "group rates" for July 2013. Even those those prices aren't "set" they give us a general idea of the price, and they also give us a general idea of how much the price can fluctuate. You could ask your TA about this. We haven't looked into the GP but we have looked into quite a few others and they have been able to give us group rates for our wedding in July 2013. Generally they won't have room availability or actual prices until 1 year prior, so you probably wont be able to get "set" prices until 1 year before, and you can make your decision then, and send your STD's as soon as you decide. That is our plan right now, hope this can help!

Trying to get pricing that far out was a pure HEADACHE for me!!  Now I know I took on too much trying to get everything right for everybody.  The hotel pricing didn't change much from when I first started looking (over a year in advance), but the airfare fluctuates as well.  We told our guests to plan for according to the current rates, (around $1000 for 3 nights and 4 days) and it was pretty much the same once we started booking.  I kept trying to work out the best deal, and finally gave up and gave my guests a few recommended vendors to book their travel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
