RMBride2B's Planning Thread :)

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I decided to start my own planning thread as my wedding is about 9 months out now and I am DIY'ing as much as possible (on a tight budget!). Anyhow, I know there will be new brides that may need some ideas or inspiration, so here goes :)

This is the bridesmaids bouquets... I flowers from Garden Ridge. They came in bundles (about 9 stems each for the dahlias... both the dahlia bundles and hydrangeas were $2.99 each. Since this picture, I have cut the stems with wire cutters to my desired length, wrapped them with floral tape ($1.99 at Michael's) and bought a roll of fuchsia/hot pink ribbon (2 for $3 at michaels). I sealed the ends of the ribbon with a hot glue gun.

This is what my bridesmaids will be wearing... they will be wearing their hair up with a flower to match their dress... still have yet to find a flower hair clip that I like though... if anyone knows a good place to find some let me know :)

This is the flower basket and sea shell holder that I made. The basket I bought at Michaels for about $2 on sale. Then I bought a half a yard of ivory fabric from a fabric store to line the basket (just use hot glue gun to seal the fabric on). I hot glue gunned mini sand dollars on the handle part and and mini starfish on the top of the basket (on the fabric part). I used raffia ($5.99 for a whole bunch at Michael's) and tied it in a bow around the handles (I have since cut the ends of the raffia, so that it doesn't hang too long and also finished the inside - sorry haven't taken a picture of these since I finished them up).

For the sea shell holder (ring holder)... I bought the shell from Michael's ($2?) and used some of my leftover ivory fabric to line the inside of the shell. I cut a circular sized piece, then hot glue gunned the edges underneath to not have jaggedy edges. I then took a flower bud (from flowers I will be using in other parts of the wedding) and hot glued gunned it to the shell. Lastly, I cut 2 short strands of raffia under the flower petals and these will be used to tie the rings, so they won't fall off the shell....

    • You might consider underground studio Puerto Vallarta. They are a young coupe doing an excellent Job at affordable rates.
    • Thanks for answering Patty! We are having the legal proceedings done in December so february is the celebration. We will have pictures first then a ceremony with a religious discourse and then have the reception.  I'm guessing we will be 50 people, give or take. Half of them are Canadian. They will need accommodations but if we have the wedding ag a resort I dont want them to be forced into staying there if they dont want to.
    • Hello Everyone! Thank you for sharing your experience about Tom Moks. We have read it very careful before we booked. But at the end of the day we were very happy with his service. I consider myself as a difficult customer but this time everything went just smooth. We had our wedding in Sayulita, close to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. He came on time, he stayed with us late night.  After all we had to wait like 3weeks to receive the pictures, but we LOVED them. He sent us more pictures that he promises in the contract, and in 85% they were perfect.  The other 15% we asked him to edit once more, and he did it, without hesitation. This is his official Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tom_moks_photography/  Personally I would buy his service again, but the decision is always yours. E.
    • Hello!  We are getting married at El Dorado Royale in August 2019.  We are trying to decide between La Salon Royale and Los Tucanes for the reception. I vastly prefer Tucanes but I’m worried everyone will be hot and miserable since I’ve been told it doesn’t have AC. Does anyone have experience with either location? If Tucanes, is there a way to get fans or cool it down? If La Salon, I’d love tips on how to decorate inexpensively so that it doesn’t look so “ballroom”-y. Thank you very much!
