Any 2013 Brides Out There?!!!!

Recommended Posts

Congratulations ladies!!! I'm also a 2013 bride as of right now looks like July for us :)

We thought we had decided on DLR but bc there aren't many direct flights there from NYC I am reconsidering... Not too many ppl want to take the 2hr drive from Santo Domingo to La Romana especially if they are traveling with kids... so I've started to look at other places... it's just sooo much more difficult than it seems - we want to make everyone happy but more so we all want the perfect destination wedding resort...

I also looked into www.diamondorchidweddings.com it's an island off of Conzumel & Cancun... many goods reviews on trip advisor... but for now i'm going to keep on looking... if any of you have any recommendations please post :)

I'm very excited to be part of this forum... it's going to be a great planning tool :) I'll be sure to post everything I come across to share with you all!

:) Happy Planning!

Congrats on your engagement Eva1love!  :)   Glad to see another 2013 Bride!!  :)   Im planning for January 2013 ( I reallllly hate not being able to set a date and get things rolling lol )  Fiance and I are thinking Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana :) I had just come home from there 4 years back the day I met my fiance so we figured it would be neat to choose there for a destination wedding as Ive already been there and know that the service and food are awesome from experience.  And not to worry about our guests and  booking a resort that isnt up to par or not worth their money as it is a costly thing to ask of them to join us..

Im excited to have this site as a resourse it really is a great tool!  With all the help from other brides, templates and neat ideas on here by the time im ready to send anything out or get anything ready im going to have to choose from multiple mock-ups LOL  BUT I figure its better to have alot of choices then rush things and not have enough :P

Thank you bride2b2013,

Funny my future mother in law just got back from DR... She went to a wedding at the Majestic Colonial! They said they had a blast! That they had dinner at one of the restaurants and then took the party outside... were they danced under the rain but made the best of it... by the end of the night they all jumped in the pool lol :)

She said the food was great... they had Mar y Tierra a la carte and the rest was part of the resort being all inclusive... the bride did not pay for one of the better wedding packages, she was just able to put it all together which I did not know was possible...

I'm looking into Dreams... Dreams Punta Cana was the first resort my fiance and I ever vacationed at and like you I think it would be ideal to get married at a place with so much significance for us :) I'll try and post all my findings and share as much as I can with you all!

As far as booking I was told I can book by Dec 1st for 2013... they'll even hold the price as chances are it will go up by then. Call them up and hustle... see what they can do for you... good luck! keep us posted!

ciao!

Bridetobe2013,

My fiance and I stayed at the Majestic Elegance a few years back and saw a few weddings between there and the Majestic Colonial.  The weddings looked great, and we really loved the resorts.

Quite a few resorts we had contacted said that they didn't have rates published for 2013 yet, so they weren't booking.  When we contacted Real resorts I'd already done a lot of research on this site and their website.  I talked back and forth with a wedding consultant and they were able to reserve my date with a $200 deposit.  I was really excited since I really had my heart set on this resort!

I also hope to be a 2013 bride. We plan to wed August 2013 at Majestic Elegance. We visited last year and fell in love with the resort :) I'm trying my hardest to get to 150 posts so that I can be able to finally see and use the templates that are on here!

Hi There

Trying to plan an April 2013 wedding at the Barcelo Punta Cana.....started emailing the resort and olanner today as well as photographers for prices and availability. Can't wait to start my save the dates and little crafty things. Has anyone received any info about how you can ship extras down....just so they don't need to be packed in luggage ie favors and such??

I know I'm probably way far ahead here but I want to plan my budget cheesy.gif

Eva Thats funny with you mother in law :P  I am doing the same thing with the resturaunt dinner then private party afterwards :)  My Brother was actually married there ( well at the sister resort - the elegance ) 3 years ago - It is funny as it rained on them aswell and they were out dancing LOL - I personally missed the wedding as I was pregnant with my son and too far along to travel but have heard great things as well as my personal experiences travelling there myself.

What kind of wedding package does Dreams offer?  I actuually never looked into that resort. Do you know if Is it much more expencive then Colonial?

Thats great to choose somewhere significant!  Better memories!  :)  I actually met my fiance litterly the day I came home from my vacation to colonial so im kinda doing the same thing lol

And I will DEFINATELY be talking to my travel agent come December after reading that!  The actual resort said no booking until Jan 2012 but maybe a travel agent will have more pull?  I just want a date so I can get the ball rolling LOL

Emily - That is really great you were able to secure a date with a deposit!  If must be a relief to have a secured date!  :)  I think Colonial falls into the resorts that dont have there rates published.  I heard the airplains dont sign their contracts with the resorts until a year in advance so I dont even know if bugging anyone in December will even be helpful to me LOL

Congrats TINK :)  Im planning at the Majestic Colonial - My brother was wed at the Elegance!  The pictures are soo beautiful!!  It  also looks like a great location

Especially so I could get things printed. I plan on making a start on as much as possible (inc. invitation/save the dates) but it will be so frustrating having them just in electronic form for a few more months!! At least we're all in the same boat. It's really lovely to chat to other people who are experiencing the same combination of excitement and frustration.

I totally agree!!  Everything Ive been making ( off the lovely templates found on this site ) Ive been putting "Fake" Dates LOL  I figured as long as i can get it all done by January I can just go back in and change the date lol  (  my fiance says im crazy planning things this early when it isnt for a year and 5 months)  But he doesnt understand that come January all the save the dates can go out as soon as there is a date ( lol )

Its super great to know there are a few of us out there that we can corospond with that know what were going through :)

Haha, I've had craft days with my other half, it's quite nice to involve him in certain bits, even if inside it may be driving him mad inside. He's wonderfully patient and always asks what I've been up to whilst he's been at work.  I also went and visited my mum and sister for another craft day! I'm having SO much fun with it!! I've now managed to get loads of stuff done since I last posted I've got my boarding pass invitations done, passport pre-departure booklets, ceremony fans, bubble tags, my first pair of barefoot sandals, a load of photobooth disguises, paintbrushes and a 'shoes optional' sign, ceremony decorations for the gazebo, my guestbook pages and I've got loads bought for the wedding and for my OOT bags! I have a 'fake date' as well now, though I seem to be getting attached to it and it is feasible so may end up being my actual wedding date! Which is quite exciting.

Congrats to new 2013 brides to be! It's nice to see there are quite a lot of us premature planners out here :D. I get the feeling this thread will be a great source of support on the run up and it will be so exciting when people start posting photos etc.!!

What have you other lovely ladies been up to?

I'm not sure what to do in regards to this either, I'm definitely going to have lots of little bits to take, and it would be easier to ship them ahead of time, but I don't know how feasible it is from the UK. Or, alternatively, how much it is to check an extra suitcase... Do any other UK brides have any idea's regarding this? Sorry ribbitt101 for not being much help for you, but don't feel silly for planning ahead: it'll one less thing to worry about on the immediate run up :D.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
